Carly, crazygoofy is correct. Also some of the banned were Dis contributors, therefore they do have money invested. You haven't been here long, this has happened before a couple of times. Of course not on this scale, I for one am tired of posters going missing without a reason. Many here have been here nearly a decade; this is more a family, than just a message board. As for attorney's I am going to school for paralegal, I haven't see anyone do anything illegal so I am unsure what the attorney is for. That is part of the reason everyone is questioning, the last time attorney's were involved nothing came of it, no questions were answered.

I think you're missing the point. The original statement implied that attorneys were involved because of legal wrongdoing by those who were banned. That's not okay and should be clarified.

I'm not entirely sure that's what it implied or if that's what was willingly inferred. I'd have to re-read the original statement and I'm not going to spend time looking for it.

In any case the point is moot. Aside from what business owners think is right about groups investing time in posting to a board, very few of us actually put any money into this enterprise. Therefore, since we have no financial stake in the DISboards, we really have no reason to expect the owners to behave in any particular way. While it's nice and considerate for them to speak about whatever legal agendas they're persuing, legally they don't have to tell us a blinkin' thing.

Now if we were stockholders that would be a different story and we could demand answers. But that's not the situation here.

I'll be happy for everyone if/when the owners of this board clarify what created this recent flap. But I won't demand it. I am, after all, just a guest in someone else's home.

I have been a long time lurker.

Througout the years I check in everyday to read the new posts.

I have laughed, prayed and cried because of some of the posts.

I have not made any strong personal friends on the boards but consider the frequent posters as friends. I've read about the ups and downs of all.

I am not completely sure of what has transpired here, however wanted to send my support to all those who have lost strong connections. I too am saddened to not read or be able to support posters that have been here for a long time. Not sure of what the other site is and will not investigate either since all the information I need I can almost always be certain that I can find the answer here.


I wish that this all ends on a positive note, and that all the posters who wish to return are welcomed back with open arms.

Then it will be up to them as individuals to seek relief for that money invested. That is a private matter, as any attorney will tell you.

So far I haven't seen anyone complaining about money they've lost because they were a DIS sponser and were banned. If they were a sponsor for a year a few years ago, and that sponsorship expired after the year, then they've gotten their money's worth.

As far as my being new here, I registered and have been posting for over a year. Just because I don't post as much as others doesn't mean I'm a newby.

I'm a true cynic and don't believe any legal counsel has even been sought. It's an easy catch all answer to throw out. But, I suppose that remains to be seen

She won't be the only one left. There are thousands of people registered on the Dis.

I hope things work out fairly. I'm going to stay here and hope for the best. I know I don't belong at the other site; definitely not what I'm about. Disers have often been said ti have pixie dust blown up their bottoms, a common theme at another site. So be it. There's too much misery in this world for me to surround myself with negativity. So I stay. And I know my name will be mentioned over there with tons of curses attached to my name because I choose to stay. Or just because.

If you read over there, note the name of the place. It has lived up to it's name. And unfortunately a lot of innocent people got hurt because of the actions of a few. I'm sorry for the truly innocent, and I know there are many.

I hope the admins being so quiet so far means they're working on a plan to makes things right again, to apologize to innocent people who were banned, and still be able to keep the instigators who deserved to be banned from spamming the boards. I don't know how they can do it.

But unless they close the boards, or kick me out, I'll still be here, waiting and hoping for the best. I've learned some good lessons from this experience. Well, I may take a break, but I won't abandon the Dis. Hopefully we'll hear something soon from Pete.

I've only read the first page, however this whole thing saddens me, no matter what the final outcome. Friends have been torn apart, a site that I have really enjoyed for many years and about lived on the last year and a half will forever be forever changed, and there is so much unhappiness and anger. Not to mention the fact that some people have spewed vile things at the unnamed site and still remain here. I know in the whole scheme of things this is not the biggest and worst thing to happen to most of us, however that doesn't make it less heartbreaking for those involved. I do hope that those who would like to come back here are allowed back in, however I'm thinking that a lot of them won't want back. Would love to wave the magic wand and bring us back in time, but the magic wand is in the shop since it hasn't been working in my life for awhile now. And for me, personally, this is only one more chapter in the soap opera, As The DIS Turns.

I'm tired, so I probably won't make much sense, but I think people want answers as to what the lawyers have been contacted for because they want to make sure they aren't unknowingly violating some strange law that would cause legal action against them. I can't think of anything illegal that those banned did. I find it unfair to tarnish their reputations to try and imply that they have.

I was under the impression from Alex's thread that the banned posters were facing legal action (or at least threats). It is a relief to know that isn't the case.

I'd also like to thank you, WebmasterKathy, and Mary Jo for stopping by to at least say something. I know you can't discuss but the slience was really disheartening.

I'm, as usual, not in the loop but I'm so sorry so many of you are hurting.

I know when I read the statement about legal action I felt like it implied one of two things, that either the banned posters were involved in something illegal or that the other website's existance is somehow illegal. I can understand it not being something that some people here are happy about and there are some that want to go back and forth and stir the pot but I can't imagine it is violating any law either.

I look forward to hearing any explanation offered but I still can't help but feel skeptical about things.

very true SM99! This post is all about feelings, feelings of hurt, friendships lost, trust, understanding, etc. It's obvious this thread is being watched close. But the main thing is it's still being kept open and that's a good thing. We are being allowed to grieve in the open. I'm so afraid of losing a friend over this whole thing. Not because we have different opinions, even though they seem to be very different. I'm just afraid we are going to drift apart.

The legal talk and slamming doesn't belong here. For the people that feel like some healing is being done on thsi thread, please respect us and post other things other places.
