Our first wedding anniversary is coming up and I would like to get something special for my DH. :lovestruc
We are already going to go for a quick weekend getaway...but I want to get a memorable present for him too...

Any ideas?

How about getting him something that he will have forever and getting it engraved. Money clip, cigar cutter, pocket watch...

Congratulations on your anniversary :D . We just celebrated our 10th on Friday :teeth: . For our 1st I got the sheet music from our 1st dance and had it framed. The person who did it jazzed it up a bit dried flowers similar to the fresh ones in my bouquet. We have it hanging in our dining room.

We went to New Orleans for the weekend and exchanged cards.

DH and I would rather invest in memories together, and not 'stuff' - but neither one of us are sentimental when it comes to material items, so they don't do much for us. So instead, we made a vow to 'escape' each anniversary somewhere (even if its the Marriott up the road for one night). We jetted to New Orleans for a weekend, had nice dinners out, shopped together and bought things for our home, etc.

For our second anniv, which was 2 months ago, we went out of town again to Dallas, attended the Josh Groban concert, shopped and dined out.

Traditional gift is paper, if I remember right. If your man is a sentimental guy, you could put together a scrapbook of all the reasons why you love him, or buy him tickets for his fave team, have pictures made for him or schedule a photo session, etc.

Good luck finding the perfect way to celebrate =)

Our gift to each other was a Disney animation cel... We got it at the Art of Disney in DTD. We figured it was close to paper, and it hangs in our entry of our home.

12 years ago on our first anniversary....we just went out to eat to our favorite restaurant and ate our top wedding cake layer we had in the freezer......tradition.

We went to dinner at the place we met (Shoneys, not romantic..but key in our meeting).
As far as gifts...I don't remember...so don't guess it was that meaningful :(

Well every anniversary except for one we go to disney,so for our first we went to disney and a nice dinner at narcoosees.I also bought her a diamond anniversary ring .

Yes, ate the cake topper (it was actually quite delicious after one year!)

Since one year is Paper - he bought me tix to my fave team - the Dodgers. And I made him a fake front page to the LA Times - it was a "Special Edition" with coverage of our wedding. (I was a newspaper reporter once up on a time).

He loved the fake newspaper and it still hangs in our bedroom. And I loved seeing the Dodgers!!

We also watched the wedding video - I think that is tradition too! ;)

We usually try to go away for our anniversary, so we do not exchange gifts, just cards. Lets see if I can remember..

1st - Williamsburg. It was awesome. We ate at one of the taverns there. Had a super time.

2nd - WDW, stayed at Coronado Springs

3rd - Went to the Melting Pot. I was very pregnant so we didnt't go away.

4th -5th - Don't remember  Thats okay DH does not remember right now either :p

6th - Flew home from WDW:(

7th - Went to a birthday party for a friends daughter and then went pumpkin picking

8th - I'll let ya know, its next Tuesday, but the plan is to be strolling WS enjoying the Food & Wine Festival:D :D :D

Our first anniversary I was 8 months pregnant and we were stationed in Europe. Went to dinner at a German restaurant....:sunny:

On our first anniversary, we had a small get together with our friends and ate the top of the wedding cake. We ordered a similar cake to serve our guests. Since I pregnant on our first anniversary, we toasted with sparkling grape juice.

On 9/24/04, we celebrated our tenth anniversary. :bounce:

Our first date was seeing the Lion King when it came out in theaters the first time. By the time of our first anniversary, the Lion King was on Broadway and we got tickets to see it, second row from the front with the original cast. It was amazing and I will never forget it! The tickets were the "paper."

Since then we haven't really made very much of our anniversary because a million other things have been going on. This february was the 10th anniversary of our first date and that weekend we found our dream house... I figure that is a pretty good anniversary present!!!

On our first anniversary, I told DH I was pregnant! Turns out that's what he had given me for my birthday a few weeks before :earseek: ::yes::
We also ate the top layer from our wedding cake.

We took a weekend trip to Maine. We stayed in the Camden area (Very beautiful). I was 6 months pregnant at the time. I remember being SOOOO sick....lol but it was a nice trip.

Ours was on a Monday so we both had to work that day. I was pregnant so after work we just went out for a low key dinner, nothing too exciting. Then we went home and took a taste of our year old wedding cake and tossed that out, LOL!

Ate the top layer of our cake, went out to dinner, went to a movie, then went to the Marina and walked the pier. (We did that alot when dating. :) )

We were living in Clearwater at the time, so we spent the day at the Magic Kingdom and had dinner at LTT. I think we did MNSSHP :)

Congratulations! We're on our 20th next month. Were big baseball fans, so for our first anniversary we went to Cooperstown. We now have been there at least 20 times.
