So what bothers you at WDW that may not bother anyone else???

I just thought of something else that makes me go nuts. When you are waiting for a theater attraction and the CM states that you need to go to the end of the row to accommodate everyone, yet some people will still stop in the middle of the row and just sit down. We all want those seats, but for the sake of being polite, you could move down so everyone doesn't have to crawl over you. :rolleyes2

We had one lady that would move one seat down each time the CM would say that. Finally the CM came directly to her and asked her--nicely but firmly--to please move all the way down. And that is why I don't always rush to the front to get in :)

I also get very annoyed when people take up a really long time with the face characters. Large groups who have to take character photos in every possible combination ("Let's get one with little Tommy. Now one with Tommy and Anna. Now one with Tommy and Grandpa. Now Grandma and Grandpa. Now Grandma, Grandpa, and Tommy . . . ") and adults who like to tell their life stories to the characters. I get that we all wait in line and the characters interact well with the guests, but long conversations lead to really long lines. I once saw an adult female who appeared to be alone having some sort of emotional meltdown with Tinkerbell. Tink was trying to comfort her as the children in the long line waited and waited (some patiently, some not so much).

I'll apologize if you happened to be behind us last Aug. with Woody and Jesse. I happened to tell him that Woody was my dh's first word....ho, my cheese, I had to tell Woody to stop hugging my daughter (19). He just wouldn't quit!!! It was about 4pm in the blazing sun and I know people were starting to grumble :) Had to tell him to move along!

I try not to let much bother me, especially on vacation. But I don't really love when people judge people using scooters or not getting up on the bus. My mom looked totally healthy but had end strange cancer on our last two trips. She couldn't stand for long or walk far let alone stand on a bus. I always get up when I see someone who can benefit from my seat, but I don't judge those who stay sitting.

1) People that expect to sit on a crowded bus. If you need a seat, wait for the next one.
2) Dining plans
3) People that don't understand you're supposed to use both sides of the table at bag check.

I can't stand the grumpy people who are yelling at CMs, or their own families, about how much they paid for their vacation as a reason to demand whatever dumb thing they aren't getting. Like the rest of us got in free?

I also dislike people who make snide comments about those who use the fast pass line. "Must be nice to be rich enough to pay for fast passes". I'm sorry, if you don't have enough common sense to research your own vacation, then you have no right to make judgements.

People who just let their kids run wild and disturb other people's vacations and their enjoyment of the parks. I am all for people enjoying their vacations, but I think its like personal liberties. You can only do so insofar as your enjoyment does not take away from someone else's. Seriously, control your children.

I think my biggest pet peeves (and many of the ones listed so far) can be summed up by this thought - I just can't stand it when people are oblivious to their surroundings/cultural norms/social norms/rules whathaveyou and feel that they don't need to be considerate to anyone else while they're enjoying THEIR vacations - yours be damned. Having a group of people "catch up" to their one family member that got in line first (mom bringing her kid from the potty, totally fine with that); iPads for recording things so that I can see beyond the screen; teenagers running at a FULL SPRINT to catch their bus, knocking over little kids along the way - stuff like that bothers me.

Okay, so I understand at Disney that "kids will be kids". They'll run around and be loud and have fun. Once a kid ran into me going full tilt and when his mom corrected him I said, "It's okay, if you can't run crazy at Disney, then where can you?"

And here's the difference with the situation you listed above - at least the mom acknowledged that her kid ran into someone - kids are oblivious and won't learn that it's not good behavior to run into others unless their parents teach them this. Running into someone innocently because they were just twirling around and lost in their moment? Sure - that's fine. But if they don't learn to be more aware of their surroundings, they'll continue that behavior and the next time it may not be so innocent and could cause someone to spill their food/drink or knock over a smaller kid or whatever. I'm that mom that will apologize for my kid if he cut you off because he was running around having fun. I'll also be that mom that tells their kid to not kick the seat in front of him on the plane. I appreciate when other parents do the same.

As for the pet peeve that doesn't fall into the "personal liberties" category is calling MK Disney/Disney World. Took me a while to break DH of that habit. LOL

Thank you thank you thank you thank you!

I have to totally agree with what others have said about kids. If I roll my eyes because of an obnoxious child, it's meant towards the parent who is ignoring it or is oblivious it's happening. I mean I get that parents can't control their children's every move, I just appreciate seeing them try.

Oh, two other related items, that many have stated over the years. Both the dining plan, as well as with the 'free' dining, both of which have led to super high dining prices and a severe degradation of the dining experience at WDW, once a hallmark of a visit there.

File under pet peeves I know are totally crazy: it drives me nuts when people get the names wrong. They call Magic Kingdom "Disney," or they say/write they are going to "O'Hana," like it's an Irish place, or "'Ohana's," like it's a possessive. THE WORST: "O'HANA'S"!!. I know that these things do not matter at all, and yet I cringe a little when I hear them and others like them. Maybe it's an English teacher thing.

My personal "favorites":

A guy on the bus to CSR told his phone conversation partner that he was arriving at "Colorado Springs".

I heard someone saying they were going to "ride the log flume" next.

My wife called AK "Animal Planet" for years, but she has a history of mixing up words. "Fast Track" was what she originally called TT :)

Also, why is it "Kuh-RIB-ee-in Beach", but "Pirates of the Kar-ih-BEE-in"?

even if you are not taking a picutre of the scenery, your flash of child sleeping on grandma's lap, just blasted out the eyes of someone near you.. esp. for those with low vision at night. by the time their eyes adjust again to the dark, half the ride is over.

the rule is NO flash photography. at all. on Pirates.
Trust me, I get that and would never use it (except maybe once when at RD we were the only people on the Pooh ride). But the thread is about what bothers you, not what's allowed. :) If I see someone taking a pic of their family it doesn't bother me. Of the scenery it does. In general too, if they're taking a pic of the family it's just to get one shot of "here are the kiddos on Pirates" to add to their scrapbook. If it's of the scenery then it tends to be every 3 seconds through the entire ride.

I was trying to think if there was one single thing that truly, deep down bothered me about WDW and you reminded me. Dining plans, in particular and most importantly "free" dining. It doesn't just bother me, I despise them and all the issues they have caused. Anything else on my list, pales in comparison.

:lmao: :rotfl2:

The thing that gets me every time is when two different groups of people are walking and their paths are about to cross, but one group makes no attempt to stop, change their path, or acknowledge that you are even there. I feel like I'm the one that let's the other person go first 99.9% of the time... which is fine, but a simple thanks or a head nod would be nice. One of these days I’m just going to keep going and run over someone… well, not really, but it has crossed my mind.
Happens to me too!!! Drives me insane! Just like another poster has indicated, I stopped moving out of the way altogether. When I see them making an effort to move, I make an effort too. If not, i guess we're bumping shoulders. Its childish but I dont care.

Yes, I agree, irritating! However, its a bonus for me. I take the opportunity to go on the empty side!

Ho my cheese....instead of saying oh my gosh etc. I heard it once and it has irritatingly stuck in my head :)

Funny you mention this, and I know many agree, however we're oblivious to it. It's on our list of "doesn't bother us, but bothers others"

We only started going to WDW in 2010, every time with free dining. People talk about how the food has declined over the years, but we've only mildly experienced this, at best. I know we only have a limited time period though. Overall, the food feels pretty much the same now as it did 5 years ago... and we love the food and TS experience offered. That being said, we don't expect 5 star meals at WDW.

The dining prices have been sky high ever since we've been going. When did they start to make a drastic climb, and food quality start the "severe" decline? Any examples? I'd be very interested to know, because I agree, the dining prices that Disney gets are crazy for the food offered. If we didn't get FD, we wouldn't be going to WDW because the TS experience has now become an integral part of our vacations and I simply won't pay OOP for WDW meal prices.

We still very much enjoy our TS meals, and have learned our favorite places over the years of visiting LOTS of them.

Something that might get under people's skin that I do: I still say MGM and Downtown Disney...on purpose. Some people get it and it almost turns into a secret nod like, "yeah, this guy is a disney vet and know's what the deal is" while other people are like, "MGM? Um, its called Hollywood Studios."

Hahah, I still say MGM too. Quicker that way. I have to say that I have a hard time not using the abreviations on here as words when talking about disney, since it is a language all its own too and in my family, only my sister speaks it.

I am a power walker, my DH is not, so his slow walking can drive me crazy especially since as a kid I went over the Christmas holidays in the pre-FP era and it was move or wait in line all day. Our first Sept trip, I had a hard time not rushing because I was so used to commando touring. Now I push the stoller so that slows me down some to his pace.

My biggest pet peeve that hasn't been mentioned is people feeding the birds/ducks/whatever especially at a restaurant area. Yuck and then they start attacking every table around.

Flash photography where it is clearly not supposed to be. Seriously, it is so easy to find good photos online or videos on you tube, why are you watching your very expensive vacation through a lens? People are so worried about posting what they are doing, they aren't actually in the moment.
