We're having 12 people over and this is my favorite day / night of the year. We start at about 6pm and have antipasto, shrimp cocktail, lobster cocktail, fried calamari, Champaigne / wine - and thats the "cocktail hour where everyone just stands / sits around and talks and stuff.

Then I'm making a red clam sauce, and a calamari sauce, Linguini, shrimp scampi, baked flounder and scallops scampi and then tons of deserts - cookies, italian pastries ( spent over an hour in the bakery this morning) Chris made the cookies, Tirumisu and a chocolate cream pie. Coffe and espresso.

I better get going!!!   - well I have the gravy started anyways!!!

Merry Christmas

Tony...it all sounds so good!

Today was the big day for food when I was growing up but since family is far away and DH is working we make tomorrow our special dinner.

So, i will be feeding 8 tongiht and then just the 5 of us tomorrow for lobster, filet, scallops and shrimp with baked potatos and fresh green beans.

Your meal and festivities sound awesome. We are just the three of us... but I have a nice meal in the works...

Lobster Tails and King Crab legs w/drawn butter
Steamed and seasoned green beans
Rice pilaf
Hot Fresh Rolls

For dessert ... my homemade cheesecake!

We have a puzzle we will work on all day as we goof around. Since family could not come to us this year, we will be doing LOTS of phone calls to them... putting them on the speaker phone so we can talk and yak together. :)

Sounds wonderful, Tony. Do you have room for one more. :)

We are going to church at 6:30 and then since we are all away from our families the catholic and protestant churches are having a combined pot luck dinner, with the churches supplying the turkey and ham. Then it is home to leave cookies for santa and carrots for Rudolph and then off to bed to await the big guys arrival.

Merry Christmas one and all! Hope you all have a wonderful celebration.

I'm the black sheep in the family.;)

Your dinner sounds fantastic Tony!

I'm a grouch today. :teeth: At this moment I don't feel like having anything. :p

Sounds Italian, Tony. :teeth:

For us, traditional Italian fish meal at one of Marie's cousin's. Lobster, shrimp, pasta, and other food that does not end. Always nice.

You're not Italian are you, Tony? :teeth: Wait, Tony from New Jersey, what a stupid question. :)

We are having the same menu as you are, more or less, but add my Coquilles St. Jacques and about 30 more people. We always celebrate Christmas Eve with a 7 Fish Feast, with Midnight Mass afterwards. :)

WORKING........but I'll get home in time to load up the stockings and feed the reindeer :D

LOL! I didn't know he was Italian until I "heard" his last name.:o I'm very slow sometimes.:o:teeth:

I want to come to your house!! I love seafood!!! But we are going to my inlaws and she will have a spread for us too! May you have a wonderful Christmas too!

My mom & I have made Lobster Pilaf (from a Bermudan cookbook) for at least 30 years....it was just the 2 of us from the time my dad died. My now DH joined the party about 19 years ago.....and our kids are now part of the family portrait.

We also make broiled scallops and broccoli with cheese.....and have cheesecake for dessert.

Tonight is our quiet time with my mom....tomorrow we'll all be together again but with extended family at my cousins house.

One of my coworkersjust brought me a suasage/egg mcmuffin and hash browns. I think that is the extent of my holiday eating. We have not had any special meal since we left VA 10 years ago,we have no family around, it's just me and DH, so we just make do with what we have in the freezer.

Happy Holidays to all!

Light dinner tonight -- ham and scalloped potatoes. :)

One thing I miss about not being near my family is the traditional (at least in our family) dinner with stromboli and manicotti. :(

I just finished preparing the:

Baked Stuffed Shrimp with lobster stuffing,

made the lobster pie,

made the mini lobster salad sandwiches,

prepared the eggplant parmagiana,

boiled the shrimp for Shrimp Cocktail,

made the cookies, brownies and pinwheel appetizers.

My mom is bringing lasagna and desserts

my sister is bringing Caesar salad

Coffe, tea, hot cocoa (Snowman Soup), wine, soda

Yes, we are Italian!!!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!!
