In the city and very close proximity to the city, can't say it happens anywhere else. Are you in the city? I can say I have never experienced that in Western Mass where I live, but then again we are pretty rural. While it may be legal, you can still be busted for DUI in a flash if your car is rolling off smoke like some Cheech and Chong ... same as with an open container of alcohol
My organization has stopped drug testing! Now we get all kinds of people who think it's OK to smoke pot on their breaks or lunch, which it isn't, and I could smell them coming in the building. We have so many issues now with people not doing their jobs correctly and I have no doubt much of it is because they're smoking pot and then not caring about how they perform their job. Such a terrible thing. An insult to our institution, which is nationwide but I cannot state the job.I'm sure it does. I don't think a lot of people care. A lot of jobs only test when they hire someone, and never again.
Even though I don't currently smoke it, in my 30's during a really bad depression I was going through, a guy I was dating suggested it. It did give me times of not feeling like I wanted to cry all day. That's was almost 30 years ago. I do see benefits for people but respect where you do it. And not everyone else wants to smell it.A question here from an oldie here....What is the value, or reason, to 'get high'?
We had the worst hairThe 80s were wild…
I know people who still smoke and ones who have smoked weed. I dislike how prevalent it is in Vegas same as what smoking was. It just smells.Pot is legal here and we have some of the toughest smoking laws, if you can’t smoke a cigarette somewhere, you can’t smoke pot either. Is it different elsewhere? I’m all for the legalization, I like my wine but think pot has less issues than alcohol. People are complaining about the smell, did they not grow up with smoking in the house, in the car, in theaters, banks, offices, grocery stores, airplanes, trains, schools, restaurants?
No, I don't really think that's an issue either, but it is routine to smell it in all public designated smoking areas. As a non-cigarette-smoker, you probably don't spend a lot of time in places like that. As far as rule-flaunting goes, it's far and away the vapers that are most often guilty there. Never mind what they're vaping; it's only legal in public in designated smoking areas but the vapers gotta vape...I switched to a vape because I live in a smoke free building. Canada has been weed friendly since 2018 and, at least where I live, people are not just walking down the street or waiting for the bus and blazing up. Does it happen, sure, but it’s definitely not the regular.
I said a few pages back that if you (general) think weed smells like skunk, people are smoking cheap *** weed.
I feel like vaping has lost some of its "coolness" for a while it was everywhere and by a lot of different types of people some whom never smoked a day in their lives but took up vaping. But that has really subsided to my observation. I still see it just not as much as in the years past.If anything, I find that most people vape in my area. I see people vaping in parking lots, the mall and even at Universal (which, yes is not allowed but I've seen multiple people vaping in ride queues).
Vaping is huge where I live. I see more people vaping than smoking cigarettes. One of my coworkers openly vapes on video calls, including ones in front of the head of the company and he seems cool with it (I work at a company with 20 employees max). Also like I noted in the post you quoted I see people vaping at Universal every time I go. Last time I was there a dude was vaping in the indoors portion of the Velocicoaster queue which is just wonderfulI feel like vaping has lost some of its "coolness" for a while it was everywhere and by a lot of different types of people some whom never smoked a day in their lives but took up vaping. And the police departments over here on this side at least several of them have said explicitly they are not going to do much over here from people going over to MO and then back to KS. I mean they'll still do normal enforcement (whatever level that was) but they knew that more KS residents would now go over to MO to get it so the legalization there has and will impact us over here in terms of how often we'll probably be around it.At least around here it hasn’t.
When it was illegal people generally didn’t have it with them. Now it’s legal to possess people are more likely to have it and pull it out in illegal places.
Yeah I do see people sneak vapes in places they shouldn't. Early this year when we were in Puerto Rico doing the Bacardi tour on the train/cart I can't remember what it was but it's a transportation they use to take you to the several buildings there and you were told no smoking allowed including vaping and the girl in front of us celebrating her birthday was still using her vape but all secret like until she was called out twice by the tour guide through his microphone.Vaping is huge where I live. After reading through most, if not all, of the posts I have to admit a bit of confusion. Pot, smells like Skunk? I have experienced both in my lifetime and Pot smells nothing like Skunk. So either those that think so either have never experienced the pungent odor of skunk or they have never been in an area where pot smoking was happening. Pot has its own kind of sweet smelling odor that is all it's own and not even close to anything else. So maybe those that were telling their kids that it was skunk they were smelling might have actually been skunk.

Why have you been eating skunk? I know there has been a saying for years that went like this. "I'm so hungry I could eat the north end out of a south bound skunk". I didn't know people were serious about it.I know what a skunk smells like. I know that I think cannabis smells and tastes like skunk. Not much to be confused about![]()

You so bad. I'm not sure we can stay friends....my friend from elementary school.Ooohh.
That's a new one on me. The word weed existed long before it became another word for pot. And in the area I lived in (the country) we also had an actual wild plant that we called stink weed, smelled terrible but wasn't smokable, but having been around what was a lot of the devils lettuce while in Vietnam, never once did I find the smell of pot even close to that of a skunk. Course I am old now so maybe things have changed, but I can't help but think that if something smelled that bad, no one would be using it. Then again, one of the things that I have learned in my 75 years is that we can never overestimate the numbers of stupid humans there are roaming around free. There are strains that are literally called skunk weed. As someone who has smoked weed, been around people who smoke weed, and — I kid you not — lived with a pet skunk, I can confirm that they smell very, very similar.
Scientific studies have even been done to determine where the skunky smell comes from. (Spoiler alert: It comes from 3-methyl-2-butene-1-thiol (321MBT). Geez, I would’ve guessed 4-methyl-2-butene-0-thiol (420MBT). Shows what I know!)

I went to a 6th birthday party at a kids’ play place this weekend and was hit in the face with the smell of skunk when I walked in. On the way home, it wafted through the car vents from another vehicle. I’m in Georgia where it’s still illegal, so I don’t know that it would be much different for you guys who have legalized it if you hadn’t. I think there’s just been a cultural shift and people are choosing to be open about it regardless of the law.
Edit: Almost missed the opportunity to make a 420 joke.
I feel like I killed the thread with my Mac and Mysterian jokes. So girl, I will up your Aquanet with some Salon Selectives and Rave hair spray.Well, as my first post said it doesn't not smell like the pot from college. And not to be harsh, I know you are older than me so ... we are BOTH showing our age.Pot used to smell like a burning leaves scent, NOTHING like skunk. In today's world, skunk weed city! I am sure there are variants that don't smell like skunk, but those are not the ones that are being toked up on the streets. Skunk weed is in full effect when walking in public! lol
No way! Ok, I will meet you halfway. It was so bad it was GOOD!I loved the 80's, and my hair was EVERYTHING then. And I laugh because when I pick my teen up from high school the boys mullets are in full effect. I am just waiting for the girls to switch from 70's middle part straight hair to 80's tease with ultra hold hair spray (purple can Aqua Net, be ready!)
