Yesterday I made some easter/spring sugar cookies and some cupcakes to bring in for my co-workers. It's not something unusal for someone to do. We have a cube that has our teams printer in it and we always put any baked goodies in there. Well I just went to get something from the printer and the whole bag of cookies is gone (and there is no way people ate them all). Someone, not from my team, took the entire bag. No one else other than my co-workers has any reason to go into this cube.

What the heck is wrong with people!?

Did Sue get a new job???:confused3

Check the trash cans! ;)

LOL, I have the same problem in my office....among other things..

Sue was one of the first things I thought of :lmao:

I was just talking to my co-worker and she said that a few weeks ago she put out a whole bunch of boxes of Girl Scout Cookies and someone took all the boxes that were unopened. I checked to trash can and there was nothing in it.

Next time put them all spread out on a tray instead of conveniently boxed or bagged. Thieves are everywhere and they have no shame or concern for anyone else.

This is one of the reasons why I don't bake for work anymore. There were a certain few that would take more then their fair share and hide it in their office. Even though we could never prove it, we knew who the few were.

Also, it got to the point where I was the only one bringing stuff in (no one else was reciprocating) and when I started receiving email "requests", I stopped. I used to do it because it was fun to hang out with coworkers at lunch and have a treat. It wasn't fun when it became expected. Also, the requests were for things like cheesecake, not cookies or brownies. I don't think they realize that my chocolate chip cookie dough cheesecake costs almost $20 to make.

OP, in your shoes, i don't think i'd be able to resist going on an office search for my cookies. and i'd be really ticked off by the time i found them.
perhaps it would be easier to keep the cookies at your desk from now on, and spread the word among your team that there are cookies up for grabs at your desk.

I don't mind bringing stuff in without people reciproating. I love to bake and try out new recipes and since it is just me at home I usually bring them in. I love when I get requests to make certain things. I know it isn't anyone from my department who is taking them. I work for a huge company and there are over 2000 people in my office building and it could be someone who works in another department and sits in this general area or walks by the cube , I would say it's the cleaning crew, but they usually aren't on my floor until around 1 and then again at night and these were taken before noon.

My co-worker said that we should put up a web cam (he was only half kidding).

I don't want to keep the stuff at my desk because I don't want people coming in and out of my cube all day. We have a little table that I can put up and put it in an area that it won't really be disruptive to anyone, but still visable so that someone can't just walk off with them.

That wouldn't work with someone I worked with. He would swoop in and gather up everything. He was known as the Hoover man.
