So this is what Deluxe is like!? I LIKE IT! A November 2010 TR

Wow, the Poly looks beautiful!! DH & I are thinking about taking a weekend trip just the two of us, and DH has his heart set on the Poly, but only if there is an AP discount offered on the room. So we are keeping our fingers crossed, but looking at your pics, I wouldn't mind staying there at all!! :goodvibes

Also, I love that the decorations were out in MK already even though MVMCP had not started yet!! :santa: I hope the same is true this year, because one of my favorite things was the wreaths across Main Street. I also love that last pic of the boys covering their eyes. Too cute!!

oh you will love the Poly!! you really will! It is such a beautiful resort! When are you thinking of going, I can check on the AP rates for you. :goodvibes

Yes, that is what we love about November too.. still warm, but you are able to see all the decorations! It was sooo beautiful!

Sorry it’s taken me FOREVER to update! I am have been crazy busy! BUT, let’s get on with the show.

I left off with us going back to the Poly to get ready for our dinner at Boma. Now, let me tell you. My DH is a foodie. He travels to LA and NYC all the time for work and he has eaten at some of the best restaurants out there. There are 2 places that he requests to eat at while we are in Disney, Boma and Le Cellier. They never disappoint! So I made sure to book Boma as soon as I could. Little did I know at the time it would be the last time we will probably eat here. :sad2: But I am getting ahead of myself.

We got there a little early so we decide to check out the resort. It’s a BEAUTIFUL resort, and definitely on my list of places to stay. I have heard others say that they think it’s a bit of a distance to the other theme parks, but I would love to stay here at least once.

The beautiful window in the lobby. Sorry it’ so blurry

And finally our destination

Now here is where I have to apologize, AGAIN, for not taking many pictures of the food and inside of the restaurant. But I will make up for it I PROMISE on my next 3 trips and those TR! LOL

Disney never ceases to amaze me. My son Gabriel has a peanut allergy and every time we sit down at a restaurant, the main chef comes out and goes over the menu with us and tells us what is safe and what to stay away from. This time he even took us up to the buffet and went down the line and told us what we should avoid. Love the Disney Difference! pixiedust:

Boma is by far a favorite of ours. Gabriel loves the buffet and being able to go up and make his own selections.

DSC02920.jpg

Rhett is happy as long as there is Mac & Cheese and Chicken Nuggets.

DSC02923.jpg

And my DH, well, he loves the meat! Seriously, the meat is so yummy! He says it’s even better than our local Brazilian steakhouse Fogo de Chao. And that’s saying something because Fogo de Chao rocks!

Me, I like the deserts! Those zebra domes are sooo yummy! I could just eat desert and be happy. I didn’t eat too much tonight since my tummy was just getting back to normal. But I was sure to take some back to the room for later!

After we stuffed ourselves silly we decided to head back to the room and rest for our “official” first day in the theme parks. I used tourguide mike for this trip and going against everything in my being, we were scheduled to go to the Animal Kingdom the next day. I usually always try to go to the Magic Kingdom on the first day, but since we sort of went there today, I was happy with going to AK in the morning.

After we got the boys settled down and in bed we all closed our eyes, happy and full, excited for the next day.

And then, just like that, around midnight, the stomach bug claimed its 4th and final victim, my DH. And that is why he won’t ever eat at Boma again…. Not because Boma made him sick, because he knows it wasn't the food but the stomach bug, but just because that’s all he tasted coming up for the next 8 hours.. :sad2::sick:

So, I sat with my hubby for a few hours in the beautiful Polynesian bathroom.. rubbing his back and placing cold towels on his head until he was a little better... I was hoping and wishing this was the last of it.

Up next : Mama and the boys go off to Animal Kingdom alone.

Awww! Your poor DH! I hope since you've all had it now that this is the end of it!!

Wow thanks! :goodvibes I don't think there is anything out yet, but we are trying to go Feb 10-13, thinking of either the Polynesian or POFQ where we spent our Honeymoon.

Oh, gosh! I'm sorry your family won't be enjoying The Boma anymore! I can't decide if that's a restaurant for us to try or not...

Oh no!!! So sorry he had to catch that nasty bug, too. And that it ruined Boma for him, especially after you had all enjoyed it so much!

yes, thankfully that was the last of it! :thumbsup2 and thankfully it was at the beginning of the trip!

I'm able to pull up AP rates in Feb. You can pm me if you would like more information. Thanks!

it was and is DELICIOUS!! And trust me, my DH is very mad that he can't eat there again. Remember, the food didn't get him sick, it was just his turn with the stomach bug.. just very bad timing!! I highly recommend it! :thumbsup2

I know. its a such a shame.. :sad2: we really like that place, BUT it will open up other places to go to next time.. we'll get back there again one day!

On another note.. I am super excited as I ordered the monorail playset with contemporary and it should be here tomorrow!!! :yay: not sure if I bought it for the boys or me!!

I love Boma's:lovestruc We ate there a few years ago and I thought it was great! But, no one else in my family did:confused3 So sorry to say we haven't been back.

I went to Fogo de Chao in Philly a few years ago, it was amazing! I don't know how to compare the meat at Boma's to it but I know that your husband saying that it is better says a lot:thumbsup2

So sorry to hear that your husband finally got the bug after you got to WDW. Really sorry to hear he doesn't want to eat at Boma's again, guess you will just have to go without him in the future;)

Fogo de Chao's is awesome for sure!! The friend bananas are sooo yummy!!

And you are right, I can always go without him! ;) they boys still love it!

I am uploading more pictures today so I hope to have another update soon and I received awesome news the other day! I have been waiting and wanting to go to an Agent Education Program at Disney since June and I they either kept selling out on me or they weren't available to our agency at the time. There a few fellow DISer's that are going next week that I would have loved to have met up with but I couldn't get into that one :sad2: Well, good things come to those who wait because I signed up and am waiting for my acceptance letter to go to the one in November! :dance3: I am sooo excited! 5 days of pure Disney Magic! AND it will be a solo trip, no family is allowed, so I will fully be able to explore and see the parks at my own pace! I am super excited! I feel like a kid on Christmas morning!! :lmao::dance3::lmao:

We've stayed at AKL. My kids loved sitting on the balcony of our room looking for animlas. It was away from everything BUT still my favorite

I'm so excited to find your trip report! We are planning a November 2012 trip and I've not been able to find many trip reports for the begining of November!
Sounds like you were off to a rough start with that flu bug but glad it seems to be a short lived one! Can't wait to read about the rest of your trip!

I still want to stay here one time. It's definitely on my list of places to stay! :thumbsup2 I need an excuses to stay at them all.. its for research you know.. to better serve my clients! :rotfl:

You will have a wonderful time in November!! I truly believe November and December are the best times to go! Do you know where you plan on staying?

I'm working on a new update right now and hope to have it up tonight! :thumbsup2

So sorry to hear DH got the bug too...not the best way to start off a vacation, especially after eating at one of your fav places. But like you said, at least it was only a 24-hour bug. Glad to hear you rebounded so quickly!

I may have to put Boma's on our list of places we want to try. DH is a foodie too - and I know he'd love to try it. But I'm not quite as adventurous an eater. I guess I could give him one meal pick though.

And congrats on the AEP trip! A solo trip sounds divine...I may have to ask for that for Christmas!

Boma is sooo yummy!! Trust me, there are plenty of other things on the buffet that you would probably like! Its worth it!

I can't wait for the AEP! Solo trip is looking really good right about now!! :thumbsup2 Plus we get to go to the MVMCP too!

We left off with poor Mark having a not so much wanted date with the potty. And by morning he really wasn’t feeling much better. So the boys and I were on our own for the day.

When we woke up we realized we had some visitors. Seems the local where there to check us out.

DSC02924.jpg

I think they wanted to know if we were going to feed them.. as soon as they realized we were not, they quickly left. But the boys had fun with them while they were there.

DSC02925.jpg

We quickly got ready and went to Captains Cooks for a quick breakfast and waited for the bus to take us to the Animal Kingdom!

30f0a6de.jpg

Ah, the Animal Kingdom! I think this theme park is really over looked.

We really like this park. Its nice to be able to slowly walk through the park and look at all the beauty that it contains. Sometimes I feel so rushed always on the GO GO GO in the other parks that’s its nice to slow down. BUT, we were on a mission this time. We HAD to get to Expedition Everest, as this was the first time that Gabriel could ride it as he was finally 48 inches!

Hmmm.. where is EE

DSC02930.jpg

Before we made a beeline for EE I had to get a few pictures along the way. We purchased the photopass package so I was on a mission to get a lot of photopass pictures!! And let me tell you, it was work! My boys (besides Rhett) are NOT camera hams!! I pretty much had to make them take pictures!!

The tree of life

You know, I have never walked through the Discovery Island Trails. I have heard that I am really missing a nice trail walk. I will be sure to walk it in November!

But not before another picture.

and another

d190b46f.jpg

By this time Gabriel had had enough of the pictures and we made our way to EE. Now, I have never road EE before and neither has Gabriel, so we sat and watched it for a few minutes. I was a little apprehensive about him riding it alone. Rhett wasn’t tall enough, and since Mark was back in the room, Gabriel would have to ride it by himself. Me being the nervous nelly Mama that I am kept saying, “are you sure, are you sure, are you sure?” Now, Gabriel has been on bigger roller coasters than EE at Hershey Park, so I really wasn’t concerned about safety. I guess I was just afraid that he would be scared and I wasn’t going to be there to calm him down. But he kept reassuring me that he would be fine so off to single rider line we went. The CM at the line asked him how old he was, he said 7, and off he went as happy as a clam!

Rhett and I went over to watch him come down the “big drop”. Rhett loved watching the train come down the big drop and was being goofy posing for pictures.

DSC02932.jpg

DSC02935.jpg

We waited about 15 minutes and then Gabriel emerged from the gift shop jumping up and down pumping his fists yelling, “that was awesome!!!” He asked to ride it again, and again, and again. After the third time I told him it was time to go someplace else and let Rhett ride something.

So off to DinoLand USA we went!

DSC02947.jpg

And onto TriceraTop Spin! This is such a cute ride. Rhett loved being up high and being able to see everything around him.

DSC02944.jpg

DSC02945.jpg

DSC02946.jpg

After I swayed them away from all the carnival games they have in DinoLand I let Gabriel ride Primeval Whirl by himself. I was secretly wishing I could go on all these rides! :lol as I have never been on PW either!

Gabriel told me that he sat with a nice dad and his son which made me feel better. I sort of felt bad for Gabriel that he had to go on all these rides alone, but he didn’t seem to mind. He was just happy to be able to ride them. And I was so proud of Rhett for being a trooper and not complaining while we waited.

DSC02942.jpg

DSC02943.jpg

After Primeval Whirl I said, lets go on Dinosaur! I haven’t ridden this ride in YEARS and the last time Gabriel was on it he was 3.5 years old. So off we went! Little did I know it was a scary ride. :scared1:

Oh wow what a way to start a trip! Hey atleast you were in a really nice room to be able to relax in and get better! Last yr DH and I stayed at Poly CL and he ended up getting sick with what we thought was a bad cold, so we spent one afternoon in the room sleeping, we pulled the curtains shut and it was so dark you couldnt see your hand in front of your face! Thank God I always pack ibuprophen and cold meds, they helped.. BUT when we got home and DH went to dr he had PNEMONIA!

Enjoying the report and cant wait to read more!

OH NO! I hope it was towards the end of your trip!! Don't you just love the Poly!! It is by far my favorite resort so far. But there are so many others I want to explore!

So off we went to Dinosaur!

Now, I can’t even remember the last time I rode Dinosaur, the last time Gabriel rode it he was 3.5. I was pregnant with Rhett so I couldn’t ride it, but I remember Mark telling me that if he knew it was going to be that dark and scary that he wouldn’t have taken Gabriel in. But, its been 4 years and Gabriel didn’t remember it and I was thinking, really, how scary can it be? :confused3 Well. Let me just show you the picture.

DSC02949.jpg

We are in the second row. I am covering Rhett’s eyes and notice how Gabriel is just sitting there with his eyes closed. I can just hear him saying, “please let this be over, please let this be over”. Seriously, how bad of a mother am I that I am smiling!!! Let’s just say that we probably won’t be going on Dinosaur again for a while. :scared1:

After Dinosaur we made our way over to the Wildlife Train Express. We have never been over to Rafiki’s Planet Watch and I thought it would be a nice thing for us to do after the crazy ride we were just on!

DSC02951.jpg

All aboard!

DSC02953.jpg

Now, this sign is a personal favorite of ours. We even have the Disney Trading Pin, which the boys were so happy to find.

DSC02952.jpg

On one of our trips when Gabriel was around 3, we were on a ride where he wouldn’t sit still. I pointed to this sign and said, “Gabriel, what does this sign say?”. Well I knew full well that he couldn’t read, but I will never forget his response. His response was, “no jumping and jiggling”. And for the past 5 years we still get a kick out of this sign and say No Jumping and Jiggling every time we see it. :rotfl: Just some Disney Memories that will be with us forever. :wizard:

After a short train ride we arrived at Rafiki’s Planet Watch and made our way back towards the conservation station.

DSC02954.jpg

Once inside we slowly made our way around the windows and looked at all the animals behind the glass. I didn’t seem to take too many pictures in here.

DSC02961.jpg

But Rhett found a great big tiger!!

DSC02956.jpg

A trainer came out with a snake. I really can’t remember what he said about the snake, all I know is that Rhett was very quick to touch it. That is why he is so blurry here in this photo. As you can tell, he is not a fan of snakes.

DSC02957.jpg

After looking around a bit more we made our way outside and went over to pet the goats. I don’t know what it is with kids and goats, but they sure do love petting them.

DSC02962.jpg

We petting a few and then made our way back to the other side and heading on over to the Kilimanjaro Safaris!

The Safari is such a cool ride. It’s even better when all the animals are out. Both boys had their cameras out and ready to take their pictures.

Continued........

Once we made it safely back from our Safari it was time to head on over to It’s Tough to be a Bug. I wasn’t sure how Rhett was going to do in this attraction. I remember from last time that he was a bit scared. He asked me if he saw this before and I told him yes. I think they both were a little apprehensive since the Dinosaur ride. I don’t think they trust me anymore!! :rolleyes1 And of course, Rhett didn’t like it. He hated when Hopper came out, and then the bug spray and all the smoke. But they do look so cute in their glasses!

DSC02974.jpg

After It’s tough to be a bug we headed on back to Yak and Yeti for our dinner reservation. Of course we had to stop for a few pictures first.

DSC02979.jpg

DSC02980.jpg

And then we got behind the Mickey’s Jammin Jungle Parade. And danced along with Mickey.

DSC02981.jpg

We were a little early for our reservation, so why not. Let’s let Gabriel ride EE again.

DSC02983.jpg

Dinner at Yak and Yeti was yummy. I think I had the dumplings, I wasn’t too terribly hungry and my stomach wasn’t back to fully being normal yet. But I knew that Mark was missing a good meal. He really loves Asian fusion cuisine and I knew this would be right up his alley. I did talk to him before dinner and he did make his way over to Captain Cooks and I think he said he got some soup and crackers.

The boys got their typical kids food. Either burgers, chicken or Mac & Cheese!

DSC02989.jpg

DSC02990.jpg

We had a late ADR so when we finished the park was empty!!!

DSC02992.jpg

Once we got back to the room we told Dada all about our day and Gabriel was so excited that he road Everest about 5 times! He is for sure my thrill seeker!

It was getting late and I was tired. Rhett had already been bathed and was passed out in his daybed. Mark was sleeping too. But Gabriel and I had one thing on our minds. Going out to the beach and watching Wishes! This is what I LOVE about the Poly. It was such a nice experience for Gabriel and I. We pushed two lounge chairs close and cuddled up in the blanket and sat there and watched wishes from the Poly Beach. With the music being piped in, I think it may very well be the best place to see it!
