Tonight was open house for incoming freshman at my high school. 7th and 8th graders from 3 local towns were invited, Blink was one of them, so off DS12 and I go. It was nice having a night out without being tugged on, poked at, and draped with kidlets. We met up with some friends from school all in DS's class and toured the school. My house officer is now the director of student affairs, poor man looked scared as he walked up the aisle in the auditorium and saw me sitting there. Let's just say I was a memorable student and leave it at that, ok?! LOL
Any way, man it was like walking through a time warp! 17 years of distance and time has made me appreciate what kind of school it was and is. I wish I had the wisdom to embrace it while I was there. I was so busy trying to get out of the moment that I didn't get to enjoy the moment. DS said it looked like Hogwarts. Some of the buildings are 150+ years old. It is still a gorgeous campus, it rivals most colleges. We have 12 buildings, a public library, and a public museum.
DS is soo excited to go there. As much as I hate hate hate Blink, I really wish all my kids could go here, they would love it and have so much to offer for every kid. They can even take college courses for credit, DS could graduate HS with up to 2 years of college credit!
So the stats:
clubs and activities - 67 not including language clubs
languages spoken at home - 29
countries represented - 41
185 teachers including the special ed dept
2500+ students
incoming freshman class 650 (2008-2009)
it will be a bit of a shock going from a graduating class of 23 to 600+ but it is awesome!!!
Sorry for tooting my own horn, thanks for sticking with me in my proud mommy/alumni moment! LOL
