DH would like to hunt for hidden mickeys on our next trip. Are these found only in MK?

I understand there is a book on this. Does the book merely tell you where there are or does it send you on a scavenger type hunt?

Has anybody done this?

Tell all regarding hidden mickeys!

Thanks!

Just got the book and it is in scavenger hunt format. It covers most of the hidden Mickey's and they are in all parks, resorts and even DTD.

According to my DD, our resident hidden Mickey expert, along with the scavenger hunt clues they also tell you exactly where to look. I wouldn't know since we couldn't pry this book out of her hands last trip. ;) She just told me her goal is to find all the hidden mickeys. Guess she needs to get a job to pay for all our trips. LOL

I highly recommend the Hidden Mickeys book by Steven Barrett (not just becuase we share the same publisher) :teeth:

It's a nice, fun addition to a visit to the parks... like a little scaneger hunt!

I love all the little details the Imagineers have placed throughout Disney, and the HMs ::MickeyMo are a nice touch!

from the CR and my dh and I could have sworn that we saw hidden Mics in the dining room chairs located in the suites. They looked like swirls but the swirls made ears and a head!

Here's another one, which I believe now qualifies as the largest on property (now that the one that was made up of a number of buildings, etc. in the Disney-MGM Studios is pretty much gone)

It is in the middle of the raceway at the Richard Petty Driving Experience, next to the MK parking lot.

I just ordered this book from Amazon and received it today. It looks really cool! DH is the one who wants to hunt for the hidden mickeys. Here's my question, the book is set up as a scavenger hunt and it kind of lays out a touring plan for you if you follow the scavenger hunt.....Has anybody ever used the scavenger hunt/touring plan and how did it work?

I'm not sure we'd follow it to the letter but it might be a fun way to do things....what do you think? Any experts done this?

:bounce: bumping for the evening crowd....so, has anybody tried the touring plan/scavenger hunt in the Hidden Mickeys book?

Thanks guys!:p

I've never actually done the plan, but have spoken with others who have taken the book along with them - it's a nice way to do a little soemthing extra on your trip, and to pass the time in long lines.

It may take many trips. I have also decided to photograph them all which in some cases has required 3-5 times on a ride to find it and get the right angel for the shot but I have a terrific album.

I'm so annal that I don't want to carry the book anymore and have copied the clues I'm missing onto index cards arranged by park and than ride.

Also, you can get a list at any guest services location plus the hunt at WL and AKL. I would say about 80% of the list is in the book but there are some others.

Happy hunting

That's quite impressive, considering how long it must have taken (and the dedication) to catalogue all of them! If you'd like, we'd love for you to share some of your photos with other Hidden Mickey fans. You can post them in our members photo galleries at DisneyWorldTrivia.com.

Thanks!

InstImpres - very impressive! I am not going to share this idea with DD! I can just see her taking my new digital to get pictures LOL. Where delswife's DD had her whistle my DD had her hidden Mickey book.

We need to get a new list from guest services because she has worn hers out and even lost a few pages. I didn't know there was a special scavenger hunt for hidden Mickey's at WL. Of course we spent a rainy day doing the one at AKL and only had to cheat for one of them. DD was so proud!

how much is the book and where can i get it????is it very thick so that it would add alot of weight to my back pack being carried around the park

Finding Hidden Mickeys was one of the highlights of our recent trip. I also purchased Stephen Barrett's book, but we didn't do the scavenger hunt. I went through and photocopied all the HM's that I thought we might come across. (We didn't do ALL of the attractions at ALL of the parks). Then I sorted them by park, and taped them together according to the direction I thought we would follow. This worked SO well! We found the most HM's at the mural at the Conservation Station at Rafiki's Planet Watch in AK. We too took pictures of all that we could find. I'm an avid scrapbooker and can't wait to do my HM pages!

I gave this book to my husband in his christmas stocking, and he was engrossed in it for hours. It is so much fun reading, and it is thin enough to pack in a tote bag. We've been to Disney numerous times, and our last time there this past Jan., we had so much fun looking for ones that we never new existed. I got mine on Amazon.com and it was $9.99, I believe...It makes spending times waiting in lines at the different rides more enjoyable.

Steve and I share the same publisher... I'll try and find out if there's an updated/new HM book coming out...

While you're at it, could you ask him to put out a HM book for the West coast parks too? That'd be awesome!!!

Thanks,

Party Teacher
