My friend's son has just died after battling osteosarcoma for 5 years. He had to have one of his legs amputated during the course of his treatment but he never gave up and was an inspiration to everyone who met him. This boy was 21 years old. Please keep his family in your prayers.

Thanks everyone. The family is doing fairly well. No matter how much you're prepared, it's still a shock.
The daddy couldn't take the idea of his son's illness and left his family for a couple of years. He's back and I just pray that he can be there for my friend, their elder son, and their daughter. If he leaves again, I don't know if my friend will be able to cope.

I'm so sorry. My condolences are with his family. I'm an 8 month survivor of Osteosarcoma, I can not imagine dealing with this for five years. The chemo is so rigourous and aggressive, and losing your leg to top it all off?

I was lucky enough to have 2 of the best Sarcoma specialists in the country and have a knee replacement, but I am thankful to be here everyday.

A very dear friend of the family was just diagnosed with Ewing's in September. She is 9 years old and fighting hard through some pretty aggressive chemo right now. Hearing about your son's triumph over this horrible disease is so great to hear. We just had a walk in honor of her this morning (through CureSearch).

To the Op...so sorry for your loss. It is more than any child should have to go through.

I'm so happy that you've had such wonderful doctors!! You'll stay in my prayers.
I HATE CANCER TOO! My grandmother, who was really more of my mom, my brother-in-law and my father-in-law have all succumbed to cancer in the past 2 years. It's so hard to see your loved ones go through treatment. On the other hand, you thank God there are treatments.
