DS3 was building with his blocks in the kitchen. He kept getting frustrated that his tower would fall over. I was trying to pick up the mess in the other rooms (which was why I set him up with blocks in the kitchen), so I told him to just build smaller towers or a wall or anything that would make him happy and give me a few moments to find my floor.

It got quiet in the kitchen for awhile and I didn't think anything of it except "yay I'm getting something done." Then the dog started whining. I thought she might need a walk so I headed to the kitchen to see her sitting on the edge of the carpet vibrating with anticipation and whining her head off. I looked into the kitchen and saw this:

Okay, so I've discovered the source of the dogs whines. There are gummies on the floor and she is hoping some of them wind up in her bowl. Obviously DS3 decided to help himself to a snack while I was cleaning.

I thought "wow, he really got that tower tall this time." Then I started looking at it more closely.

It is leaning at a pretty odd angle to still be standing. I thought "only a kid could do that and have it work." Then I looked even more closely.

No, it couldn't be. I must be seeing things.

I'm not seeing things. Those are gummies sticking out from between the blocks. His solution to the tower falling over? Stick them together with the only stick thing he could reach. The gummies that are always on the kitchen counter.

I'm impressed at his problem solving skills, but less than thrilled to be digging gummy candy from between mega blocks. :headache:

Well, you have to give him credit for his creativity and ingeniuty. Have fun cleaning those blocks!!

That is awesome! I think people who are creative and think outside the box have a great gift. It is one of the few things that can't be taught.

Priceless! :lmao:

He gets major points for creativity! Perhaps you have a future engineer on your hands!

That's wonderful!!:lmao: You have very clever son.

::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

He's got a great future ahead of him. :thumbsup2 Most schooling is just in reading & writing, but to be able to think outside the box and problem solve is a better gift.

Next time, give him a small bottle of Elmer's glue. My nephew would glue his creations together. When he was tired of those designs, his mom would just soak them in a bath of hot water & the glue would melt & dissolve. It's a very easy remedy. (No digging out gummies. :)) Then he'd be able to reuse the Legos again. :cool1:

Imagination is so rare this days. Don't let it go away. He will go far in life with imagination.

Oh and save those pictures they are priceless.

:thumbsup2 Priceless!

What are your sons view on the Economy??? We need some gummies for that too!;)

:lmao: That just made my day. I am in between cleaning and doing a massive amount of homework and that just made me smile! Thank you!

That's fantastic!!!!

He's a future President! Or the next multi-bazillionairre inventer...hmmm, you all wouln't forget me when he's famous and rich will you????

I LOVE to see little creative minds at work! And THAT'S creative problem solving! I also love the way he put the little man on the top with his arms up in a show of triumph!:rotfl:

Thats very cool! I bet he was all proud of himself.:thumbsup2

VERY GOOD!

I'm impressed with your son.

Now for the cleaning, try using a warm water boil to help get the gummies out. They are mostly sugar and water so it should dissolve in warm to hot water.

I love it! That the is kind of thought processing I love to see in little ones! Enjoy these moments!
