Yipes! I called our Express Care for advice on Olivia. Tonight she is doing some coughing and sneezing as well as nasal congestion.....simple cold sx.

Well, everyone always says "Call a doctor! Don't ask the DIS!" :D So I called Express Care just to see if I could/should give her some cold medicine and if so, what dose.

Nope, they don't give out information over the phone. Either have to take her in to ER or wait until morning and see if the peds can see her. So, in the meantime I have the humidifier running and am hoping she doesn't get worse by morning! I really hope she doesn't run a fever because I don't even know what dose of Tylenol to give her!

Patients call L&D with questions regarding contractions and other pregnancy related concerns all the time and we can no longer pass along information or helpful hints.

We have to tell them to call their doctors office and if they're closed, the answering service.

Something about liability.

Maybe the pharmacy can tell you what dose she should have?

If you need to give Tylonol just check the label. If you are still unsure you can call the pharmacy and ask what the proper dose is for her age and weight. I have done this before for my son when I was unsure of the proper dosage. Usually the pharmacy has a weight/dosage chart. I pray she feels better soon.

for infant tylenol it would be half a dropper, like jasminesmommy said

If she starts running a fever, then I would call the Ped's answering service & hopefully the Ped would call you back with that info. Our Ped's are great like that...no matter which one is on call (there are 3 in the practice), they act like it's no big deal & they're happy to answer, even if it's 3am!

Hope the little sweetie feels better soon! :(

if you want to give her pediacare decongestant it would be .4ml, but don't give her anything for coughs

yup the proper dosage should be on the packaging and on the bottle itself

Actually they usually don't put the dosage for under 6mos, it says to consult physician.

This is why I'm so thankful for Nurse Kathy (my wonderful sister!!!)

Exactly. She still seems congested this morning, but not any worse.

:D
