So many gave their lives, remember them, always....

Dan, thanks so much for posting those pictures.

Viking and totalia, the tone of your posts and incredible insensitivity and callousness are the very reason why bulletin boards have to include the "ignore" button. To use this particular thread for your own agendas is simply dumbfounding. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

*sighs* Remember them yes, but stop harping on it. I've heard so much about it that it no longer has much impact on me except to make me tired of seeing yet another post on it, yet another tv show about it, yet another newspaper reporting on it, politicians using it to forward or detract from their own agenda's and worse.

It's time to let the dead rest. It's time to say goodbye and go on with your life.

That's a little harsh. I have a great solution for you, don't open the thread if you don't want to read about it anymore. Obviously most of us don't feel that way. As someone else stated, how insensitive. Have you forgotten what happen on Sept. 11?? I know I haven't and it is still fresh in my memory. I know the families that were affected haven't forgotten.

People never cease to amaze me. One more person to add to the ignore list.

::yes:: My thoughts exactly.

God Bless America

Well, I am glad to see that by far the greater majority still have a heart and are a caring lot. I was prompted to put this up while watching several 9/11 TV shows the other night on A&E, this week being the third anniversary of the attacks. I guess when we still remember events such as Pearl Harbor 60 years later, we can still appreciate an essence of immediacy, for me, hopefully forever, an event as 9/11. And yes, God bless America. And thank You, for past blessings.

If your husband was a fireman, and you know that he would have gone in those buildings despite the obvious danger, you would never get tired of hearing about 9/11.

My husband is a fireman - and I know, for a fact, that he would give his life to save another life. Therefore, when I see/hear anything about 9/11 I stop for a moment and think about how so many people not only died, but how so many people lost someone they love.

I want to thank you Dan for sharing these photos with us and I hope the negative comments of fellow DISers won't stop you from sharing anything about 9/11 in the future.

God Bless!!!

Thank you Dan!! There is not a day that goes by that I don't stop and think about all the men and women that have given so much.

First: It is 'Ad Nauseam' and not 'Ad Nauseum'. Using Latin correctly can make you appear smart. Spelling it wrongly is simply embarrassing.
Second: We don't intend to interfere with your monopoly on arrogance ;)
Third: If 'God bless our country and all our people all over the 'world.' doesn't exclude the rest of the world, what else  'God bless our country and the rest of the world' would be appropriate to avoid misunderstanings or presenting you as self-centered.
Fourth: We were as shocked about 9/11 as you, we also lost people in WTC, we also fought -and are still fighting- in Afghanistan. But life must go on. For your info: Since 9/11 more than 100,000 Americans died by violence in the USA (Average is 40,000 per year) - I see no-one fighting against that.
Fifth: It may come as a surprise for you, but we didn't fund Saddam in the 80ies. If you want to know who did, ask Rumsfeld.
Sixth: YOUR problem is credibility, because you only hold countries accountable if they are evil AND have oil.
Seventh: Having seen all the protestors in NYC, I still have the hope that the USA will find its way back into the community of nations, instead of separating itself more and more.

Oh Please. Get over yourself!! Talk about arrogance.

Thanks Dan for the reminder. I didn't loose a loved one on 9/11, nor do I have a loved one serving in the military. Sometimes it is easy for families as fortunate as mine to concentrate on other issues, and forget about the suffering others are still enduring.
Although we may not think of it everyday, the people that were taken from us, and are still being taken, will be etched into our hearts forever. Thank you to all the families that are paying the ultimate price for my family's freedom. May God Bless You and Your Families Always!

Perfectly stated.

It was only three years ago, for Pete's sake. And if people choose to start threads and remember around the anniversary, they are not HARPING on anything. What a poor choice of words.

Those of us who lived in the city and had friends in those buildings and on those airplanes will never forget. We will respond to the threads and watch the shows and remember not just every September 11, but always. I feel incredibly sorry for those who have already dismissed it as ancient history.

Well put, Dan.

Thank you Dan. I too watched the shows over the weekend, and as always, was moved by them as I am by anything related to that day.

The correct spelling is misunderstandings. How embarrassing.

Thanks Dan. I'd never seen the picture of the firefighter and the angel before. Very moving.

I agree that Sept. 11th is a day most of us will never forget, nor should we. Do those that feel we're "harping on it" think we should do away with Memorial Day and Veteran's Day too? Most people have continued on with their lives, however, remembering and honoring those we lost and the tragedy that befell our country is important as well.

Thanks Dan- I haven't forgotten that's for sure... but I have exactly "remembered" either. I caught a show on PBS last night about the towers and why they fell.... the video and still pictures brought it all flooding back. I felt just like I did that beautiful September morning in 2001.... it still seems unreal... yet it's all too real. :(

I don't want to ever forget.....
