He just can not cook! :stir: DH offered to cook dinner lastnight for us, he said I will make some chilli. I thought oh no, not his cooking again! I had to tell him, you know hun, I'm sorry your cooking is just down right nasty, you can not cook! :sad2: Then I looked down and saw his feet. Let me tell you something else while I'm being honest! You've also got some "UGLY" feet! I told him please do not ever go out in public with those dog's! :lmao: :lmao:

Five minutes later DH comes and ask me if I would like to go out to dinner? I said oh yeah. We went to The Texas Roadhouse! :teeth:

Wait...he stuck his feet in the chili????? :scared:

My DH professes his inability to cook. When the kids were little they wouldn't even let him fix them Pop Tarts in the toaster because he burned them.

It sounds like you should keep up the "honesty is the best policy" tactics, since you got rewarded with dinner out! My DH thinks he's a good cook too, but he throws so much salt into everything, (usually Crockpot chili or stew), that I can barely eat it! His feet are OK though. :teeth:

Reminds me of the Outback Steakhouse commercials. Glad that you got to go get some good food, from Texas Roadhouse no less!!!!

Mine took me to Pollo Tropicale. He can't cook either but does try. At least he can grill a good steak and chicken breasts.

You notice he didn't ask you too cook and he was trying to cook. HMMMM!! :stir: :rolleyes1

My DH is so sweet and he means well, but he is way out of practice in the kitchen.

I started a new job with a long commute. Once in a while, he gets home before me. The other night, he made dinner. The pasta was at least five minutes from being done (it was hard), he made too much pasta and not enough sauce, and the chiken cutlets were raw inside. He thought they were pre-cooked (they were breaded), so he just "warmed them up a bit."

It was soooooooooooooo bad. I was pretending it was "just great honey" until I bit into my uncooked chicken.

I am so lucky; my husband is the BEST cook!! In the 8+ years we've been together, I have made dinner maybe 5 times (he helped me with some of them too).

I just come home and he makes the dinner; I just watch TV :happytv: I do try to help, so I can learn, but I usually mess something up.

I can bake though; I actually made a cake last night. :thumbsup2

dang, you are lucky...how do I get me one of them :teeth:

I can SOOOO clearly remember having this conversation with my mother!

She was (and still is) a pretty terrible cook. This is mostly because she is just too cheap to buy the necessary ingredients. And don't get me started on the old/stale, expired stuff she keeps around! Can anyone say food poisoning?

When I was in college, a couple of my friends from school came down to visit over the summer. She kept saying "I'll make lasagna for you all while you're here." The house I grew up in had no air conditioning, so I kept telling her it was too hot for that. Meanwhile, my roommate and I cooked all the meals (stovetop instead of oven, since it was roasting hot in there!)

Then we had one of those good summer rains come through, which cooled things down. She was all ready to make that lasagna. I just couldn't come up with an excuse. I finally said "Mom, you know. It's just really not very good. We'll make it for you." She just couldn't believe it. She kept saying "But I use Aunt Shirl's recipe, and you love hers!" Yes, but she actually uses ingredients. You do NOT make a pan of lasagna with the following:

1/4 pound ground beef
1/3 jar ragu
5 lasagna noodles
3/4 c of mozzarella cheese!

Ever since then, I do all the cooking when we're together. That includes holidays! It's much better that way.

If we want to get our kids to scream and run away all we have to do is threaten them with some "dad made cream of wheat!!!" He'll never live down the time he tried to make that for them! He swears he just followed the directions!!! :lmao:

Hey, Lisa--fellow 10 day cruiser.

This sounds like my MIL. She can't cook at all either. Whenever we go to her place we either eat out, or I offer to cook. When she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer I went down (to FL) for several days and cooked the whole time, stocking her freezer with a ton of frozen meals. Her dh was so thankful. He finally ate well for awhile! :)

We're heading down for Thanksgiving this year and we're encouraging her to just join us at Cracker Barrel!! :) :lmao: No point in putting an innocent turkey through whatever she'll do to it!

DH is actually a pretty good cook, even though he almost never cooks. Before we were dating (were just friends) he cooked me a disney dinner...club 33 caesar salad, club 33 crab tetrazzini, cheesecake...

He likes to do fancy and unusual stuff (so he's not ever really allowed to do it). I don't mind doing the cooking, I just wish he'd help out with the dishes!

Oh well...as soon as our patio is done and we can wheel out the bbq to it's permanent home...he'll be doing the grilling at least...

Sounds like DHs' stew. It looks and tastes like dishwater
we have told him over and over that we HATE IT. But it never fails that he will come home early once in awhile and fix this. I ask him what he is making and he says "some good beef stew". :stir: IT IS ANYTHING BUT. Then he get mad when me and the kids refuse to eat it and acts like we never voiced our opinion before. HE eats on it about 2 nights then it goes down the disposal. such a waste of time and money :sad2:

I guess I should count my blessings that my husband is a great cook :) . As long as it doesn't involve baking he does a great job. The only problem is that he rarely uses a recipe or writes anything down, so when he makes something good he has a hard time repeating it :rolleyes1 . I have to say his chocolate souffle with chocolate sauce is almost as good as Palo's (Disney's recipe). Hmmm...I could go for some souffle tonight...honey... :teeth: .

My DH can't cook to save his soul. His "specialty" is pork & beans with cut up hot dogs. He tries to cook eggs and they end up stuck to the botton of the pan.

He even admits he will stick to me preparing the meals.
