So it is the iPad

It's an hour into the "event" and no price yet.....hmmmm....is that a good sign or a bad sign? BTW, I'm getting my info from engadgets in case anyone else wants to keep up with it.

Price is coming up..

EDIT: $499 starting price

16 GB storage space

16G - 499
32G - 599
64G - 699

plus 3G models for additional $130 (on each model) plus monthly charge through AT&T

Pricing start at $499. That's 16gig $599 32 gig, $699 64 gig. 3G costs more. Still think I want one.

I've got an iPod, an iMac, I've got a Kindle and when Verizon gets the iPhone I'll probably get that-but I really don't see why I'd buy this too.

Ia it just me, or does this seem the dumbest idea for a product ever? A tablet with a keyboard dock? Get a freaking laptop.

Plus if you have a data plan with AT & T already for your phone, you need to spend another $30 a month for "unlimited" (which is probably very limited). I'd hate to see what the data plan costs are going to be here in Canada.

Personally I think they are way off the mark with this. Looks like an oversized iTouch. I'm sure some people may have a use for it, but I can't see it becoming the next great thing.

I am thinking about buying one for travel when I don't need my laptop which is a pain to haul around.

This might be a great option for me - I've wanting a Kindle and with the iPad (terrible name!!!) I wouldn't have to lug my laptop around when I travel.

Thanks for the link. Definitely interesting reading.

For those of us who are data plan resistors, the AT&T offerings might actually be semi-tempting. =)

Wow, what a complete let down. :( Was really hoping for a REAL tablet computer, running OS X, not a giant iPhone, LOL.

I must admit though, at the $499 price point, and the way they are touting ebooks, it might put a huge dent in the Kindle device market. Unless they really drop the price on the units. Other than that, again, for me at least, this thing is pretty much useless as I already own an iPhone and a Macbook.

I was thinking that too, but I'd like to be able to download my photos at night to back them up. Could they toss in some iPhoto and a usb port?

A magical and revolutionary device......really? I'm not so sold on this one yet. Maybe I'm just missing it. Does a better job at apps that you can use on your iPhone or iTouch... but it's not a phone....and a laptop could do the same things? I'll wait until I hear from Pete on this one....

Oh my, the jean manufacturers are going to have to make the pockets bigger for the teens. The new IPAD Jeans. :rotfl:

As a PP stated, it looks like an oversized Ipod. Although I think it's cool my son is not getting one of these.

I think there is supposed to be an iLife for the pad. The ports I am not so sure about

I'm not one for the first generation of the products. Revision #2 is always better, but it is on my radar.
