Wow! What a trip! I have to admit I was skeptical about only being there for 3 days and only being in the park one day. Would it feel like a real Disney trip? Would it be enough to feel the magic?
And I can resoundingly answer YES! It was a fabulous trip, regardless of the length of time we were there. Only going into the park one day was fine, ESPECIALLY considering it was August.
It really drove home for me that Disney isn't just the parks. That the magic is everywhere and taking it easy and not pushing pushing is not only ok but a good thing!!
This trip showed me how much my family (not just Dash but all of us) enjoyed taking time to swim. We'd never had the option going in January but with the August temps, we LOVED taking time out to swim! So that's become a higher priority for us on future trips. Much to Dash's delight!
We really loved the Poly! The rooms weren't my fave to be honest. The extra size was nice, and having 5 of us in one room was great for this trip, but the low ceilings got to me after a while. The shared bathroom vanity/water closet area wasn't an issue for us but I could see how it might be for some families.
That being said, the grounds, GCH and pool more than made up for it! I loved being within walking distance to 'Ohana and Kona. I loved Captain Cooks late night snack options and Dole Whippery!! I loved all the little bridges and streams and waterfalls. And the smell! *SIGH*
Would we stay there again? DEFINITELY! The pros far out weighed the cons!
I would especially stay here again on a summer time visit! It's the perfect resort for summer time!!
As far as the joint trip with Disney and visiting mother in law, it was totally doable! Would we attempt it again? Probably but the next time we go to MIL's we're not going to Disney. It'll be in March and I'll be 28 weeks pregnant and I just don't want to attempt Disney that pregnant during Spring break crowds!
This trip was definitely a memorable one with a lot of TR fodder! My favorite kind!
Can't wait to tell y'all all about our December trip and let you know how we liked WL. And then, Mr. I and I leave Wednesday for 4 blissful kid free nights at the Boardwalk. Should be a whole other type of trip!
Thanks for reading along with me and helping me to relive such a wonderful family vacation!!
See y'all real soon!!!!!
