The only issue I have - the hordes of people blocking access to the boarding line once boarding begins "just waiting for their number to be called". If you are holding #1 and need to get through, you get a lot of stink eye from people wanting to be getting on NOW! and not really wanting to let you through.

I have not experienced that yet. Even when we were silver and gold, I was able to get a pretty good PAT and would be in group 2 or 3. We just stand off to the side and keep the entrance clear. Most CM's are pretty good at finding out what the BG number you have is and sort of directing folks to stand clear. I guess to circumvent the situation you mention.

Well, we've only experienced it once, so far. On our EBTA last year. We were at the terminal at 10:15 (DCL transfers from MCO) and then we waited until after 12:00 for boarding to begin. By then the place was packed. When they announced boarding, the group (crowd) that was "just hanging around" the entrance to the boarding line sort of bunched together (like a blood clot). Getting through that group was a challenge.

Most of the time we arrive after 12:30 and there's no line for either check in or boarding.

Been there, done that! Kinda like getting on a plane these days. Southwest now has the best system for boarding in my opinion.

Last cruise out of Galveston, the Wonder was fog delayed by a few hours on its arrival. We got an e-mail saying to delay our Port Arrival by at least 2 hours (we are Platinum so we go whenever). So we waited at our hotel until 12:30 - and we were told that people had been boarding for some time - really wasn't much of a delay. But by arriving a bit "late" we breezed through check in and onto the ship - easy peasy

Sometimes, I suspect @PrincessShmoo is not a single person. It's impossible to have all answers to all questions at all times. It's likewise impossible to have photos to substantiate every single one of those answers at your fingertips.

Shmoo is, like, eight different people cruising at various times, pooling their knowledge and photos into one all-seeing, all-knowing fictional persona.

Oh I'm so glad someone else feels that way, too! Asof, oh, today DH has no status with any airline (changed to a higher level job that doesn't involve traveling for half the year), but while he did he boarded earlier than many, and the clumps of people standing in front of those lines drove him crazy. And since we live near casual-Seattle and he works for a casual company, he wears casual clothes, so sometimes was questioned by his fellow same (and sometimes lower) status people as to whether he belonged there.

Traveling to and from San Juan on Southwest in December was a relief! Ah, an orderly line!

Does SWA fly from SJU (San Juan) to Seattle or do you have an overnight stay somewhere? Because I cannot get to Portland on Southwest from SJU!!

Flew home on Delta again - at least this time they didn't hold us hostage someplace. Heck even landed in Portland 40 minutes early

I have experienced this every time we have boarded at PC (10 cruises). We have had a #3 or higher but there was still a horde of people with higher #'s blocking the way. Disney could really do a better job of clearing a path for boarding.

Set up "holding areas" with their "roped off areas" for each Boarding Number (kind of like SWA with your boarding number..)

Or enforce PAT so that there is adequate seating for those waiting to board and no need to stand up due to lack of seating.

Nope. Just one me.

I grew up with a camera in my hand (thanks to my parents who documented everything they ever did). And once cameras went digital (where I can just delete the ones that don't take well) I just take pictures. You never know what someone will want to see.

I like to be helpful, so, usually, my first mission on embarkation day is to go around taking pictures of "everything".

I don't have the answers to all the questions, but I do have pictures of many things.

I am always impressed by how fast you can find things in your pictures. I am way behind on categorizing mine and making them more user friendly!

This has always been my biggest gripe with Disney. All the other cruiselines we have taken always had waiting rooms where people were instructed to go and wait to be called. The terminal was always clear and easily accessible to restrooms, snacks and the boarding door when your number was called. This is one area that Disney is lacking in -- control of the wait area.
