So is chef mickey worth the price ?

Although I loved the atmosphere and the characters here... I found the food just plain awful. :sad2:

And since we were there over 4th of July we had to pay a holiday surcharge per person on top of the regular price.

It was a VERY expensive meal for us that I doubt we'll repeat again.

A holiday surcharge? That is ridiculous.

yikes, i was planning a dinner there in Dec. and i have read so many bad food reviews for dinner. we're also goign there for breakfast, so maybe i should find another place for dinner, i have heard great reviews of the dessert buffet though. hmmm, i'm undecided!

We just ate there for dinner last week. It was our favorite restaurant! The food was better than I expected it to be. The desserts were wonderful. It was my DS 3rd birthday and they did a great job celebrating it. Everyone at our table had a blast!

We just ate at Chef Mickeys last month. Our whole family loves it. We love the characters and the food. Its a must do every trip.

We love it! I think the food is "good enough" not fab, but the atmosphere makes up for it. It beat waiting in line for hours for autographs!!!

I prefer breakfast over dinner. The character interaction is phenomenal at both meals! The food is good at breakfast, so-so at dinner. I wouldn't pay OOP for it, though. For the 5 of us for breakfast, it was $90 not including tip. I would never pay that kind of dough for breakfast. Since we were on the DDP, it didn't faze me! :) Our dinner was $111 not including tip. Being on the DDP, that didn't faze me either. I found it to be quite beneficial using the DDP instead of paying OOP.

Have a great trip! :)

its not about the food its the experience for the kids thats matter. your going to disney ..something they will never forget...i never forgot spending ny birthday at disney and eating with characters in which my parents proably a paid a lot of money for 20 years ago.

We always eat at CM the last night of our trip. The dessert part of the buffet is worth every penny:worship: We love the fun atmosphere and the chance to see Mickey without the lines. The characters spend alot of time with you. They keep coming to your table no matter how long you are sitting there. Really a great time for us!

The first time I went to Chef Mickey's (many years ago when it was still in Downtown Disney) my entire family loved it. We had a great time...the characters were great, it was just one of our favorite meals of the trip.

We went again years later after it had moved to the Contemporary, and it just wasn't the same. The food wasn't good. The characters seemed more rushed. I think there are better character meals. Maybe I'm biased though because it just wasn't as nice as it used to be before moving.

We are going back for our 3rd trip in FEB.

This was the first meal I booked for this trip as we enjoyed it the 2 prior trips......

Not sure If I'll book another Character meal other then this one.....
Yes it is loud, crazy atmosphere...lot going on....

But like anything else..it is whay you make it and we'll have fun there + a few build your own Sundae's will help me get through it too....:thumbsup2

We were there last year for breakfast. It was a bit hectic but the food was great! And lots of meeting the characters.

Was gonna do it this year but couldn't get a ressie.

We had dinner there last March and while I wasn't expecting great things, I was a bit disappointed. I thought the food was ok, pretty much what I expected from a buffet. The service was really bad though, and I didn't like the atmosphere at all. I think the interior needs a redesign. The characters were great though and the kids had a great time...which I guess is the most important thing.

We went to CM for the breakfast buffet. I LOVE breakfast buffets. I ate one bite of cold hard eggs, half a slice of the limpest bacon I've ever seen and drank a cup of coffee. Sat in a room off to the side with old crushed food all over the floor.

We spent over a hundred bucks for breakfast that morning then went straight to the Main Street Bakery to get something to eat.

It sounds like Chef Mickey's must be a hit or miss type of place. I just had dinner there a few nights ago for the first time. We thought the food was fantastic. We saw all of the characters several times and Goofy spent quite a long time between our table and our dining neighbor (he couldn't decide which lady should be his new girlfriend. LOL). Our waiter was fantastic and had us laughing even before the characters arrived. We'll definitely do this dinner again and hope that it doesn't disappoint in the future.

Dinner food was gag-worthy in 2006 but really liked the character interaction (above all other Character Meals) so we are going to try the breakfast this year. Bob in NC's review makes me nervous, but as this is the only character meal we have scheduled, we'll hope for the best. :)

For us, YES! Lots of good food to choose from for both of us, they're GREAT with food allergies and I LOVE the characters!!!
