So is anyone else NOT planning to stay up until 1am to make their Fastpass bookings?

Reading some of the posts here, I'm wondering if I'm making a mistake, but...

My FP window opens on the 22nd. Because it's a late night at the Magic Kingdom, this apparently means I'd need to wait until 1am on that day, in order to access our Fastpasses.

So I thought, why bother?

There's only two of us, we'll be there for 9 and a half days, and while we would like to ride the 7 Dwarves Mine Train at least a couple times, we really don't care about seeing Anna and Elsa. I figure I'll just go to bed at a normal hour and choose my FPs at my leisure the next morning.

Tell me I'm not crazy...?

We don't make our FP+ reservations until the day before we enter a given park. The day that I have to reserve FP+ 2 months in advance to ride my favorite rides will be the day that I leave WDW in the past.

No, I wouldn't wait up to do that. If I happen to be awake, I would take care of it but it wouldn't really be deliberate. For our last trip, I made our FP+ reservations mid morning and got all the rides we wanted with times that worked for our schedule.

Yes, you should be fine. But, the longer you wait the less availability they have which means the less flexibility you have. If you have MUST DO days or MUST DO ADRs for example, you might want to stay up.

I know for us, I often plan my meals around what parks would be recommended then I plan my meals at specific points in the day based off of park arrival or departure time. So, If I am on my first day in magic kingdom and my plan is to start the day with Splash and Thunder, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, etc. then head to fantasyland around lunch and do Mine Train right after or just before, then I would do my best to ensure I got the times I wanted. If timing is not as important, than no...it shoudn't be an issue.

In the past I've just gone to bed at my normal time and set an alarm to get up 5 minutes before I could start making my fp+ reservations. I also was trying to land A&E fp+ for my daughter, so I didn't want to risk it. If you don't have any pressing fp+ to land, I would just wait.

Nope. Just changed one this morning, 2.5 weeks out, for a spring break trip (so heavy crowds), no problems. I seriously would not stay up late to do a FP.

Thats what I have always done as well. Takes me about an hour or so to get a 8/9 day trip done.

Unfortunately I'm not planning a trip at all right now :guilty:

But for my Oct trip, I happened to be up at midnight, but wanting to go to bed. I went ahead and booked my 7 dwarfs for my group of 12 (wasn't trying for the other hardest to get: Anna & Elsa, fireworks or parades). I went to bed and did do all of my other selections during the afternoon of my 60-day. That afternoon, I saw that7dwarfs was still available one of my planned MK days with a limited selection of times and not available at all for my other MK day. Since this was for a group of 12 and future trips will just be my family of 5, next time I'd just sleep as normal and do my reservations at a reasonable hour. I will know in the back of my mind that there's a chance some other early bird will get my favorite worms, though!

Nope... I would never wait up. I made my selections 2 weeks after my 60 days and I got everything I wanted and the times that I wanted. I think it's crazy to stay up late to do that.

I didn't do it. I got up a little earlier (4:30 am or so) so that I'd have some time before getting ready for work and I was able to make all of mine. BUT it's just DH and I and I didn't want an A&E or parade FP. I really only wanted TT and TSMM (and 7DMT if I could get it) and I was able to get all of them at times that worked for us. I think if it's just the two of you and you don't need the "MUST HAVE" MK ones or others at very specific times, I think you'll be fine.

I don't have anything on my list to do that would require staying up late. I actually had a fp for SDMT in nov. And gave it up the day before because we didn't feel like going back to MK. If I never ride it, I never ride it.

Yes, we typically stay up, as A&E is a must do for me! :-) I am usually too excited to sleep, anyhow!!

Nope. This will be my 4th trip with FP+ and I have never stayed up late or gotten up early to make FP+. But I'm not trying for things like Anna and Elsa since I've already seen them once so that makes a difference I think.

I've been bumping the 1:00 FP Booking alert thread for mesaboy, and this morning DD discovered we could stay at Yacht Club with a nice CM discount on April 19th.

After linking up the reservation, at 10:00 my time, 1:00 pm EST, we were able to secure FOF, Mine Train, and MSEP. I was so excited the three were available, I didn't check for anything else.

I will say that my isolated, one day experience booking FPs does show that some good things may be left even if you don't book at 1:00am.

It was kind of fun staying up late to get our FPs for our last trip. DD and DW got to do A&E so it isn't a big deal for them. I wouldn't mind getting a FP for A&E if one were available but I won't lose any sleep over it.

This is my thought as well. We have set ADR times because we try to eat at our normal mealtimes and a few special things planned. So I have somewhat set times I'd like to ride certain rides on certain days. We tend to plan our days doing 1 section of the park at a time especially for MK so we will probably stay up to make sure I get exactly what I want.

I just made ours today and got everything we wanted exactly when I wanted it, including the mine train for every day we are at MK. I didn't stay up late, and didn't get up early. It was about 7am when I got mine. We are going during a "slower time" so maybe that matters, maybe it doesn't. I haven't ever stayed up late to book them, I'm not frantic if I don't get what I want when I want it, but understand those that do.

I never have so far, but both the trips we've made under fp+ were scheduled well into the 60 days- still didn't have the least bit of trouble getting what we wanted. So, we won't this time either. If someone in our bunch happens to be awake and bored, they'll do them, otherwise we'll get to it when we get to it.

The latest it would be for me is midnight so yeah I'll definitely stay up to pick my FP+ :surfweb:
