So is anyone else NOT planning to stay up until 1am to make their Fastpass bookings?

I think the only FP that even might be worth staying up late for is A&E. The rest should be easy enough to get at a more reasonable time for some. That might change once we get closer to summer and the really busy months.

Reading some of the posts here, I'm wondering if I'm making a mistake, but...

My FP window opens on the 22nd. Because it's a late night at the Magic Kingdom, this apparently means I'd need to wait until 1am on that day, in order to access our Fastpasses.

So I thought, why bother?

There's only two of us, we'll be there for 9 and a half days, and while we would like to ride the 7 Dwarves Mine Train at least a couple times, we really don't care about seeing Anna and Elsa. I figure I'll just go to bed at a normal hour and choose my FPs at my leisure the next morning.

Tell me I'm not crazy...?

You're not crazy. I made FP reservations for next month over Spring Break on the morning of the 30th day at a reasonable hour (like 9am) and was able to pick from several time choices for 7DMT. There were a few that weren't available anymore (A&E, Wishes, the Parade) but like you they weren't things we would have wanted FP's for.

By the morning of the 25th day, though, I could tell that availability was starting to tighten up on 7DMT with drastically reduced time choices or no availability at all.

.

We stayed up when we went this last time, but we were going around Christmas, so were expecting high crowds. Ended up cranky :)
I would think you'd find rides if you waited until the next morning, and as it has already been stated, things change frequently as others adjust their plans (thereby creating more openings for you).

Never had trouble booking FP+ the next morning, 7DMT included. But I would if I had a child looking to meet A&E !!!

With a 9.5 day long trip, I think you'll have enough 7DMT options to not have to stay up until 1am. There should be availability in the morning - especially with only 2 people. If you had a shorter trip, I wouldn't recommend it, but you should be OK. Since you don't care about A&E, that's a non issue as well. If Wishes or FOF were a "must have" it might be worth it, but you didn't mention them so I'm assuming those aren't must-haves.

If trying to get A&E, then you need to stay up. But if not, JUST GO TO BED:)

We are staying off-site, and last night was our 30 day window. I'm usually a night-owl, and live in central time, so 11 pm is no big deal for me to stay up. But I've been sick, and I made the mistake of taking cold medicine around 8 pm. By 8:30 I couldn't keep my eyes open, and reached that point that sleep was way more important than getting a FP for 7DMT! Much to my surprise, there were PLENTY of options available when I booked our FP's this morning. And we are going at BUSY spring break time. You should be fine:)

I booked our January 2014 trip less than 60 days out! Our December trip it was about 50 days out before I looked at FPs because we were in Jamaica. I made changes up until and all through our trip. Didn't miss anything.

Another vote for "you're not crazy."

My 60 days opened on Tuesday. I got online at 5:30 am and got everything I wanted at the times I wanted - including 7DMT for 2 different days. I'll throw in my disclaimer, I'm a solo traveler and I wasn't trying for A&E or any parades/fireworks/nighttime shows. But if it's just the 2 of you, you've got a nice long trip, you're not looking for A&E, I'm betting you'll be fine doing it when you get up in the morning.

You're not crazy. I stayed up until midnight once. The last three trips, I made my FP+ reservations when my morning alarm went off at 5. We haven't had problems getting what we want (usually a party of 2, but in December we had 5 with us.)

We most certainly didn't stay up to do our FP+. I did mine the following morning when I got up for work at my usual time. We didn't need A&E FP and were able to get all our FP+ rides at the times we wanted.

Nah, I will go to sleep, wake up and get FP or ADRS then go back to sleep ;)

I am the organizer for my ds HS baseball team, who are playing Baseball at WWoS the week beginning March 21, 2015.

Yesterday, I moved our group of 25 that had a FP for Soarin at 7pm one evening that week to 25 FP for Test Track. I did it withiut any problem. Actually, I made all our FP for our park days wihiut any problems and got everything I wanted worked around our dinners.

We went in September as a family and again in December beginning day after Christmas and didnt have any trouble either.

I am going again in September and hope I still get everything we want since Im not staying up until 1 am. Thats a chance Ill take.

Granted, we dint need character meet and greets or parades but we still do the E Ticket rides.

Good luck to all that are staying up. You deserve to get your desired FP!

I think it's worth noting that fp+ as of right now, still shows availability (at least for up to 5 people) for the window that opened early this morning at 1 am. If you're a worrier, go ahead and stay up. But there really isn't a need for it at least as far as SDMT goes. The only thing not available is A&E and fireworks. Even the parade is still available. And this is at only 30 days. The scarcity is overblown. There was a time that it was more difficult, but as of late, it's really not a problem.

I won't be staying up this time unless I happen to be up. I did for our last trip because I needed A&E and 7DMT FPs. We don't need A&E and 7DMT FP's this time. The seats on 7DMT really hurt DH's back. His shoulder blades fit perfectly around the headrest so it was very uncomfortable for him when we were jerked around, especially in the back cars. So we'll probably be skipping it this trip. Is TSM easy to get FPs for? That's the only ride I'm a bit worried about.

I amde FP+ reservations last week, but I didn't do it at midnight. However I wasn't interested in A&E, fireworks or parades. Also, we really don't have any must do attractions. The hardest part of the reservation process was trying to find attractions I thought of as FP worthy, especially at Epcot.

From what I see now, it shouldn't be a problem. There's currently availability for TSM as early as the end of this month- for 5 people at least. There's never a guarantee and I didn't check every day between then and 30 days from today, but there seems to be a lot of days open still. Personally, I wouldn't stay up for it.

Thank you! I still have a while before I can make my FP selections, but at least now I know I don't need to worry about staying up for TSM. :goodvibes

Hey OP! I would also like to share that for our November trip we waited till around 9am the following morning and still got everything we wanted!!! Even up until the month or so before we went, when we decided to add MVMCP to our trip, we not only added another park day but also changed around times on another and still got everything!! I think you'll be fine!!! Enjoy planning!!

Me! We go in 36 days and I have not even looked to see what parks we will do on what day, let alone book FP. I hate the planning that a WDW trip has become, so I just don't.

Some rides, even in down times, will have such long lines. If you are travelling with kids who want to see Anna and Elsa or ride the seven dwarfs mine train, I would recommend choosing just one day as your MK day and then go free flow on the other days
