As someone who has always known a "Dole Whip" as pineapple/pineapple, I have to question why not just go get a can of pineapple juice and a McDonald's cone and make the pineapple/vanilla one at home whenever you want?
I agree, I do not actually like the pineapple by itself for the same reason. I had an all pineapple one a few years ago and I couldn't finish it. I switched to orange and liked it much better, I found it more mild.I just found out that the vanilla soft serve is gone! . My absolute favorite was the vanilla soft serve and pineapple juice float. I find the pineapple/pineapple combo to be a little too pineapple-y... I heard it's still at the Poly so I might check that out, but I really like getting a sweet cool treat in MK. Does anyone have replacement suggestions?

It's possible that their regular distributor for vanilla soft serve is no longer making the product and they are seeking another supplier that meets their standards. Are they serving vanilla soft serve elsewhere? So, I don't understand why they'd eliminate the vanilla swirl option. There can't be THAT much of a savings by doing so. Sheesh, another disappointing decision. Sure, it's not a huge issue, but sometimes these little things start to add up.
I'm wondering if it has something to do with crowd control. That area has always been such a people clog when the park is crowded. Lots of families probably have small children who prefer the plain vanilla soft serve. By having that area for Dole Whip mostly, maybe they create more of a specialty "niche" counter rather than just a dessert counter. The vanilla can be purchased elsewhere. I wonder if it also lets them evaluate the popularity of the various Dole Whip products. I know there has been long time issues with licensing of the name "Dole Whip" and where and how it can be used. Perhaps that comes into some play in the moving and changing of products. These are simply ideas. I certainly haven't seen the business plan. So, I don't understand why they'd eliminate the vanilla swirl option. There can't be THAT much of a savings by doing so. I mentioned this in my previous post, but I remember Josh replied to comments on one of his blog posts some time back, and he said that when they changed locations, the "new" Aloha Isle doesn't have room for the swirl machines. It's possible that their regular distributor for vanilla soft serve is no longer making the product and they are seeking another supplier that meets their standards.
