So if you HAD to choose

Umm if I had to choose more frequent, but I do one long trip and another 1 to 2 shorter trips each year. Sometimes I go to the dark side and do a trip there instead hehe lol

This is a really interesting debate and I love that the answers are so varied.

For me, I prefer longer trips more spaced out for a lot of the reasons stated by other posters. Even if I knew that I would be coming back in just a matter of months, I would feel rushed if I were only there for 4-5 days. Plus, as crazy as it sounds, the anticipation is such a big part of the enjoyment for me. I love meticulously planning the trip, then reading Disboards and everything else I can get my hands on to prepare for the trip. Also, my fear is that if I went several times per year, Disney trips would become too routine. I know that's probably crazy to think, but it's what I've always been afraid of.

We believe in longer and frequent trips :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: We're kind of special:rotfl2: On average we're at WDW three times a year and usually stay 8 to 10 days. One of the three trips are shorter and with just me and DH. Can't help it...it's our happy place!

Would you prefer shorter yearly trips (5 days or so) or longer trips every two or three years (10 days or so)?
~Without question -- I totally prefer the shorter 5 day yearly trip -- we can accomplish everything we want in that time span and quickly bounce!

~For me, ten days is just way too long to be at Disney and then to have to stay away longer than a year would be like torture or something! :goodvibes

I prefer more frequent shorter trips! 5 days is a good amount for just me and my husband. When I have children, that might change.

Longer, less frequent for me. Ideally I would also push trips back to save more for a better resort if I had to.

Like someone said 5 days just isn't long enough to really feel like vacation to me. It would be so weird for me (totally get other people do this) to only enter a park once a vacation and have little to no laid back days. We'd probably feel different if we were within reasonable driving distance from WDW, but since it's not cheap to get down there we try and make the most out of it. It's our vacation, not our weekend getaway (although I am completely jealous of those people close enough that it can be both to them).

I love mini trips to Orlando, and have been doing short trips annually for the last few years. // My preference is definitely the more frequent shorter duration trips.

I'd prefer more frequent, shorter trips if I could. The deciding factor for us is the cost of airfare.

If it costs you a significant part of the budget to get there, then a longer trip with one travel outlay makes more sense.

In an ideal world, regular shorter trips would suit me fine.

I like shorter, more frequent trips. I'm big on long weekends away, WDW and other places included.

Longer less frequent. Since we drive 1100 miles each way plus have 2 young kids who can't spend full days at the parks, it limits how much we can do. We tend to break up each park into multiple days (well, all but AK). Plus like to take time off to swim and go to KSC.

I would love to do a long trip, but summer would be the only time I could do that.

I like longer, less frequent trips. Which is what we do now. I love having about 11 days to relax and enjoy it all. For one, I do enjoy vacationing other places. Secondly, it seems we enjoy "the magic" more when we wait longer between trips.

We are go every 2-3 years for longer time period people. It never loses it's magic for us doing it that way!

We have to fly (2 day drive one way), so it just makes more sense. Plus, it gives us an opportunity to go see other places on our "off" years.

I would much prefer shorter annual trips. Aside from getting back to WDW every year, a week is about all I can handle without getting burned out. I can't imagine spending 10+ days there at one time. It's fantastic, but it's exhausting.
my ideal trips are 10-11 days but we are not park commandos. We go at a leisurely pace and take breaks when needed.

longer trips

being from Europe it's 14 hours flying indirect and a $1000 airfare per person.
arive 7pm-ish in Orlando, depart 2pm-ish from Orlando, night on the plane, that's 3 days just to fly in and out.

3 days on the road for a 5 days stay would just be ridiculously short and expensive.

we love our 21 days stays (maximum length of stay for the UK branch of WDTC)
but we try to do that once a year.

Shorter more frequent would be greatIMO, but 5 days seemed SO crammed last year b/c driving took us 1 1/2 days each way:crazy2:. We are flying this time and doing 7 days and hopeully a happy medium, but defiantely more costly to fly.;)

We do shorter trips (5 or 6 nights) which has always allowed us plenty of time to do everything we want and enjoy ourselves.
In theory, we would love to try a longer trip one time, but life is busy and it's hard to carve out that length of time. Plus we usually also vacation somewhere else during the year and if we did a longer trip we would have to cut back on that.
