So if tiered pricing were to come to pass

how would it practically work? Does anyone know how they do it at Disneyland Paris?

Obviously, if someone were buying tickets the day of their visit, this is very straightforward. It also seems fairly straightforward if the tickets are purchased as part of a hotel package (unless the visit straddles two different pricing periods and there are more hotel nights than ticket days).

But how will it work with tickets purchased in advance? What pricing tier would be used for those? Will we have to specify our anticipated dates in advance? What if our plans change? Will we have to visit guest relations to deal with these issues?

How will this system work with discounted tickets? Will there still be a price bridging mechanism with these?

This is my question too. I am more concerned about the logistics because it seriously stresses me out! Also, does everyone think they will honor tickets that are bought ahead of time or do you think you will have to pay a surcharge if traveling during the busy time? I am planning a trip for Dec 15-22 next year and I am thinking about buying the tickets ahead of time to avoid this crazy.

Well, since you have to make ADRs for popular restaurants 180 days ahead, and have to book space on popular rides 60 days in advance, Disney probably assumes that by the 180 day mark, (or 60 day mark), people have a pretty good idea when they are going to go, and that they should buy their tickets by then. Indeed, in order to make advance FP reservations, you have to already have a ticket. So they assume that you know when you will be coming and can price them accordingly. As for people who want to simply buy a 7 day pass and stick it in their safe deposit box to guard against a future price increase...I have no idea. Maybe people won't be able to do that any more.

Or maybe you just give Disney open-ended ability to charge to your credit card on file and at the end of your trip, you will get billed for the days that you actually went through the turnstile. Sort of like how a hotel charges you for mini-bar purchases. :scared1:

I don't know how it will work but I can imagine they would honor tickets as they already honor old non-expiring tickets. It wouldn't be a good PR move to not honor current tickets. I guess I'm not really too worried about the tiered system as tiered systems are already in place all over the place, including hotels, airlines, car rentals and other amusement parks.

I agree, it is just one more things added to the list, and we are usually able to travel during off seasons due to our daughters school being so wonderful, but it does make me wonder and any unknown usually stresses me out until I get a hold of how it works haha!

I completely agree. There are even restaurants in my city that charge less in January than they do in June, for the same meal.

Tourism is seasonal and everything else tourist-related has fluctuating prices. I don't see any reason why WDW should be different.

I forgot about restaurants. Disney already has different rates in their hotels and restaurants during certain times, it makes sense they would do that with ticketing too.
