So if it's raining when we get there on Sunday...

...what's the best gameplan for rope drop?

There will be two moms and two 8-year-old girls. My DD goes often to Disney -- her friend has not been in over two years. I am thinking either go do Alice and IASW, or maybe Pirates and HM? Hmmm...I don't mind rain, but it's going to be relatively cold, and I don't want us all to be drenched and freezing the rest of the day. We've had passes for ten years, and hilariously, I can't remember being at DL even once when it's rained!

Where would you head first?

pirates first. Most folks would go to fantasyland because of the proximity of all the rides. But is you do pirates in the dry and HM dry, then you could go back to FL when will be less crowded in the initial first hour and take in the dark rides. ROA is very empty on opening then the rest of the park. the problem with small world is that the load area is in the elements, you are sitting in the elements and waiting to exit in the elements. Buzz has a long out of elements waiting area. don't forget the train.

In our experience, when it rained it was early in the morning and stopped by afternoon. I don't know what's forecasted though. But I would do the longer indoor rides while its going to be the wettest.

If it is raining, Alice probably won't be running. IaSW will be running, but remember that the first portion and the end are outdoors (no cover), so if it's raining, you can get wet. If you're looking to stay dry, I would head to rides that are entirely indoor and that have mostly covered queues (if the lines extend past the indoor queue).

Ponchos and jackets!
Have fun while it rains and act like the rain isn't happening. The park will look deserted because most people will be running for cover. If you act like the rain isn't happening, you will have free reign of the park.
Everyone will be trying to avoid the rain... The places to avoid the rain will be crowded.

Another vote for ponchos (and bring some fresh shoes!), and pretend it's not raining!

Last year, it rained on Saturday night. The park was deserted, and it was wonderful! We rode Space Mtn multiple times because there just wasn't a line!

When it's raining, assuming it's a light rain (which Californians seem to think is "heavy"), the locals stay away, and there doesn't seem to need to be a game plan in place, per se, because the locals are significantly more out of the equation.

Thanks -- I think if it's not raining or only a little, we'll head to FL first in the hopes of getting those outside rides done. And BTMRR! If it's raining harder, we'll go to Pirates and HM.

And lalasmama, you're right. It's been SO dry for SO many years, that many of us here in SoCal own no real rain gear. Whatever happens, we'll have a fun adventure tomorrow!

My happiest disneyland (and disney world) memories are on rainy days. I would pay more for a ticket if I could be guaranteed it'd be raining. :D

If it didn't result in ride closures, I'd pray for rain. I imagine it would cut down on crowds.
