Ok so I got scrapper off ebay what do you think is the best way to deal with this situation? Should I email the seller and see if they will accept them back and send me a refund? Should I just go ahead and leave negitive feedback and keep the pins? Curious to see what you guys would do....

hahaha:lmao: same thing happened to me, I wonder if we bought from the same seller. They sent me a pin I knew didn't even come out yet. I would count up all your fakes and let them know and ask to be reimbursed for all of the fakes. They will probably refund without a complaint because no one wants negative feedback, but I would not send them back...I just tossed mine in the trash but it was just one.

When this has happened to me I have let the seller know why I feel the pin(s) were bad, we then can usually come to an agreement on a refund. There have been 2 times that the seller has basically told me "too bad, so sad" and refused to help.

Will you share the seller with the rest of us so we can be more educated on eBay pins?

Sure, the seller is "Jackaroopintraders" hes a power seller with 100% positive feedback.

Ok I got an update today from the seller. He said that all the pins that have been shipped out the last 3 weeks were traded for at WDW the week of April 9th. He said that he would either refund the purchase or I could send back the scrappers and he would send replacements and an additional 2 pins for the inconvenience. In any event he wants the pins back...

ps. This is my 1k post!!!!!!!

Congrats on 1000 posts!! And congrats on getting a seller who is willing to work with you. I would take him up on his offer, that's a great compromise. :)

My seller did the same with the 8/24 pins (from 2 auctions) that I found questionable. The problem is that when we send the pins back, the sellers can just send them on to someone else who doesn't know any better. Out of the 8, 4 of them looked ridiculously cheap. The others I felt were scrappers just by comparing them to other pins I had that were the same/similar.

Not to say I have a solution, I just felt that I was part of the problem when I returned the pins to the seller.

I went to DL last week and happily traded my pins that I felt comfortable with (even after working with my 2 sellers, I still had about 7 that I refused to trade). I found that of the ones I got in trade, about 5-6 of them *might* be scrappers. On the positive side, I trade for pins I like so I won't be trading them back anyway.

Make the return and feel better that you are doing your part. I just wish there was more we could do.

Id give him a chance to make it right. If he refuses then you have no choice but to file a dispute with eaby and get your money back. DONT let him take advantage of you.

I received fake pins and filed with eBay/Paypal, I got nothing back. They told me they couldn't help me because I received the product, even tho they were not as described. So I was out the $$ I spent on them. Now I'm much more careful in my eBay pin purchases.

Heres a picture of the suspected scrapper. This pin is set for a release sometime this week. I got it in a "lot" last week.

I'm sorry, I have no experience with that particular pin but it is cute! Good luck to you!

This really burns my tail...especially since I am waiting for that series to come out. I hate that when they do that it really brings down the value of the pins....

I got a small lot yesterday, 3 were Hidden Mickeys, 2 were absolutely fake. One was the ice sculpture series, it's not even made of metal, it feels like a hard plastic material! I've sent a message to the seller and will keep you all updated on the status. I will post her eBay name when this is resolved. Altho I guess 2 out of 20 isn't that bad.

Not all pins that are not released yet are scrappers. I have been at WDW weeks a head of a release and found them for sale on the rack. Some times they just get put out early. If it was a few months early then I would be surprised but not by a week or two.

It all depends on if the pin is limited edition or not - Limited Edition pins are never put out on the shelf early but generic ones are all the time.

The pin I had in question was a LE pin. The back of the pin just said "limited edition: 250". Arent limited edition pins numbered?

So happy I found all of you! Two trips ago my son bought one pin, last trip he spent all of his money on pins at WDW. We got home and he was crushed that he couldn't get more until we were back in WDW. Then we found Ebay! Yahoo!...we spent lots of time looking at pins and buying quite a few....now I find out about scrappers! I have asked my son not to buy anymore until I find out how to tell what is what. Can you tell me? I have read articles but they say to look at the back, don't buy pin directly from China (already did that), if you see many copies of the same pin could be a scrapper....HELP!!!! I enjoy pin collecting with my children but do not want to encourage scrappers, and also don't want my child to wasted money....any words of advice?:confused3

I have never seen an LE on the rack early, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen, it very well could but I don't think it's very common.

My seller has not responded to me. I did leave positive feedback because 18 of the 20 are good as far as I can tell but I did note in the feedback that 2 were scrappers. sellers name is thinkerbelle102. I also received 3 that I purchased from youngqueen but I have to review them. I feel good about them tho so hopefully I will be adding her name to the good seller's list. :)
