I'm not sure where you got that information, but it is outdated.

Also, the package is going up to $4,500/$5,500 (for the Wedding Pavilion) in 2009. :sad2:

Thanks guys! I am so stupid! I never thought to look at the year section of the date on the bottom of that page!!

Major DUH moment!!

Is it really going up to $4500 for an Escape package next year???:guilty:

Geez, that's a huge increase! Does it go up $500 every year??

This will NOT deter me from my WDW dream wedding two years from now, just gotta save up more....but geez louise!!

Well, last year it jumped up $1,000, but they added "free" annual passes valued at $955. :rotfl: Before that is was $3,000 for a while...

Yikes!! Do you know if they are even including anything extra with the 2009 increase?

It's all the same elements for 2009. At least they didn't take anything away from the package... I wonder if the narrowing price gap between Escape weddings and the Wishes minimum will increase the number of Wishes weddings. :cutie:

If it's $4,500 in 2009 I'm reasonably relieved, in my head I've been preparing for up to $6,000 just in case!

Where did you find the 09 info Carrie?

I'm just praying that the annual passes stay part of the deal, as they almost make it excusable for going up a grand, although they did get rid of the room nights and officiant included :sad2:

Only 5 more months to go until we can finally contract - then they would have to honour whatever the package is at the time of contracting, correct?

No I think I read somewhere that Disney don't finialise the price until much nearer the wedding.

That's probably their plan!

So they could up the basic package price after contract?

I think I read on another thread, that Disney told people the price was going up so couldn't finalise that.

Once you have a signed contract with the figure in it they shouldn't be able to change it.

I would think that once you're contracted to an Escape package it couldn't go up, although if you chose to purchase additional elements these may go up depending on when they were confirmed, but once a BEO is received then those prices should be fixed too.

I think it sucks big style if all the prices can just keep going up after you've booked them.....

Will have to check when we get to 12 months out and contract I guess!

The contract is a legally binding document. So if the contract states a price, you and Disney are agreeing to that price. The only way the could legally change it is if there is a clause in the contract about pricing subject to change (which was not in ours for 2007). Just read the fine print. You won't receive the final BEO until a month or two before the wedding.

I didn't have any problems with them honoring prices for our ceremony. In 2006, the Escape (now Intimate) was $2450 or $2650, I don't remember. But because we signed our contract before the 2007 prices were out, they honored the 2006 price (which was a HUGE relief). We also schedule the MK shoot for the morning of the wedding. When we scheduled it, the price was still $800. The pricing and packaging later changed, but they also honored the $800 package as quoted. So I don't think you will have to worry about that. It's all a matter of timing. I do notice that they are publishing the future year's pricing further in advance now, so that may be why.

Sometimes this can be a blessing, and sometimes not. If the packages change for the better, you may still be tied into the older terms too. I found DFTW and DPS to be wonderful to work with. Keep in mind they are doing hundreds of weddings and fielding thousands of emails and phone calls daily, so be patient if you don't hear back immediately. They are also entitled to vacations and sick days just like everyone else. I think we sometimes get so focused on OUR wedding that we forget everyone and everything else in the world.

Patience........You are having a DFTW, the rest is all just pieces of the grand puzzle, they WILL fall into place in due time !

Although they confirm your date at 12 months do you actually get the contract then?

Hmmm, I thought so, can anyone confirm??

I thought you could book at 12 months out (ie call on that day, and then they would send you out a contract to sign and request for deposit).

It's good to know that it seems they honour prices at time of booking, I thought this would be the case, let's just hope their isn't a new clause in the contract! ;)

OK, here's how it works:

These prices are good for all of 2009. For Escape weddings, the price is set in stone when you sign your contract at 12 months if you have an outdoor location or 8 months if you have the Wedding Pavilion.

It's Wishes weddings that have price fluctuations, but at 6 months out the prices are locked in, and then you don't pay any more if they change after that. Wishes contracts only specify the minimum you're paying, not individual prices for things, so you aren't locking in anything but the minimum when you sign your contract at 12 months (for Ariel's, Atlantic Dancehall or theme park locations) and 8 months for all other locations. At 12 months they "pencil you in" for all other locations, but nothing is official til you sign the contract.

Does that help? :)
