I am all done and the packages have started to arrive at the door.. Now all I have to do is find time to wrap them - in between unpacking.. I also need to check inside the boxes to make sure everything is there - nothing broken, crushed, etc. - but that will require a little sneakiness on my part so no one catches me "in the act".. ;)

How is everyone else doing? Almost done?

My Dson-in-law insisted that I do a "Wish List" on Amazon (he's the king of internet shopping) and after mumbling and grumbling that it was not something I personally care for, I finally gave in and did it.. I think I listed 20 things - so he would have a good variety to choose from.. Nothing over $20 - most were $10 or less.. A good 9 or 10 of the items were more Amish fiction books - as well as one other book ("Handle With Care" by Jodi Picoult) and over in the section where you can leave comments, I typed - USED WILL BE FINE !!!!" Sure hope he listens to me this year..

How does that list sound? Too much? Did I list too many things for him to choose from? I really do loathe these "Wish Lists".. :sad2:

So - that's the end of the shopping saga here at DD's house..:santa

I'm not as far along as I'd like. My daughter is almost done. I only have one more thing to get for her. I ordered my dad's and my fil's presents today. I"m making scrapbooks for my mom and mil which I need to get on the ball with. I have about 20 pages to make!

Other than that I haven't gotten anyone's presents yet. I haven't even got my decorations up yet which is crazy for me. I usually do that right after Halloween. I'm 28 weeks pregnant though. We'll blame it on that and not sheer laziness. :rolleyes1

lol, no, i don't think your wish list is excessive in any way. have you read the amish mysteries by tamar myers? LOVE those!

DH keeps asking me what i want for Christmas, and i honestly have no clue. i bought myself a $25 all-in-one printer on BF, but that was from my $100 the in-laws gave me.
as far as MY shopping goes, i'm almost done. i just need to get pj's for dad and step-mom something for my grandmother (she's the tough one to buy for), and a few stocking stuffers for DD.

I am basically done. I have to get some stocking stuffers and gifts for our 3 Godchildren but that is it. Our kids helped us out this year by asking for expensive presents so they are not getting that many things--which is good because we are traveling this year and we won't have to bring as much along either :thumbsup2.

Now I just have to wrap them. Someone here said they use a code to label their gifts so the kids don't know what present belongs to which kid. I am going to do that but I have to think up codes to use for the 3 kids--open to ideas!! :thumbsup2

I am almost done. Did most of it on Black Friday. Need to get some gift cards yet and a few things for my ds if he will ever make a list. Plan to have gifts wrapped early this year!

No - I haven't heard of that author.. Do tell! :) Do you remember any of the titles? Are they the regular size paperbacks or the larger trade size? :santa:

I'm done with my kids, with the exception of some thermal underwear for Christian. Yeah, I know. Lame. He wears it under his one-piece footie PJs because he can't keep a blanket on him at night. I will buy a little candy when it gets closer to Christmas. i have to buy something that I don't like or I'll eat it all up.

Eric, our 23yo foster son--a box of grow-your-own mushrooms, a box of Black Pearl Microwave Kettle Popcorn and a bottle of habanera pepper hot sauce. He's in culinary school.

I'm about done with DH too, but now I need to start on his birthday presents. Ugh. I wish his birthday came a little later in the year so I could catch my breath.

Samuel, our nurse--almost done. Gas card, some canned veggie soup, and some cut-out cookies.

Mother--done. I got her a very nice sterling medic alert braclet, canned up a bunch of soup and veggies, bought her a book about Mother Teresa, and a couple small things.

Sibs--done. We don't give gifts to each other, we give to charitable organizations. This year we did Operation Christmas Child and 2 Angel Tree kids.

In-laws--not so much. DH is in charge of them. He has a few things, but they're hard to buy for. They make about 5 times what we make and they live in a fully furnished half million dollar new home. They don't need anything!

I was done......just waiting for one more DVD to arrive, but its release date isn't here yet.

I did decide to get one more thing for BFF, so going out to get that tomorrow.

I love wish lists. I would rather get something someone wants than guess and have them not like it.
I added a lot to mine this year to have a lot of variety. Amazon is great for it....I add lots of things and make notes about not buying them from them :rotfl:
so glad they added the note part to them.

I have read a couple of Tamar Myers books. They are okay....kind of funny ;)

Thanks for that info! I'll have to look them up on Amazon and read the little snippets.. I won't put them on my "Wish List" though - I think there's enough to choose from on there already..

One "funny" thing I put on there.. I have a bulletin board in my bedroom that needs to be fixed.. It's hanging by one hanger and my Dson-in-law still hasn't gotten around to fixing it - in the entire 7 months that I was gone! So I put a bulletin board on my Wish List and in the comment section wrote: "UNLESS YOU WOULD RATHER FIX THE ONE I ALREADY HAVE !!!"
:rotfl::rotfl:

I only have 4 more gifts to get- for my nephews, age 10, 14, and 19, and my niece, 16. I will get the three teens gift cards, and I still don't know what to get for the 10 y/o.

I have several December birthdays, though, that I need to buy. SIL, nephew, and niece- so I really need to get 7 gifts still. Darn those December birthdays!!

I'm done!! That being said I only have to buy for 7 people.

Good luck everyone!

:rotfl: We'll see which it will be ;)

Ugh, I've barely started this year. Usually would have a good chunk of it done by now, but we're simplifying this year and I know myself, if I start TOO early I'll keep buying. I've made a list and sticking to it.
And I've already blown that...I gave the info to DH to order an American Girl Doll for my DD and he ordered the wrong doll. It's a good thing I opened the box when I did! But I went on-line to order the correct doll thinking I would send the wrong one back, but decided to keep her for DD's Bday in the winter.:upsidedow

i've found her complete book list here! http://www.fictiondb.com/author/tamar-myers~22269.htm

the ones i read are the "pennsylvania dutch mysteries" about innkeeper magdalena yoder. she's a mennonite living in an amish/mennonite town, and somehow murder is always afoot, lol. there are some pretty yummy recipes thrown in too! i'm not sure about the book sizes, i check out the regular hardbacks at my library, but some of them seem to be smaller than regular book size. happy reading! :)

TERRIBLE.

So far, all I have purchased is the Snuggie for MIL and some DVD's for my dad.

Far, far, FAR from done.

I hope to get some more done tomorrow... I know JUST what I am looking for, so hopefully I can get motivated tomorrow!

I have my mom's gift all set, as well as my boyfriend's and my neighbors'. I have the idea for my boyfriend's parents' gifts and my best friend's gift; just have to get them done. As for his sister - no idea. She's my difficult one this year. I see a thread about this in my near future. :wizard:

I am so far behind this year. Usually, I'm just about done by now with just a few odds and ends for the stockings to get. I am planning to order a bunch of stuff online over the weekend since I have no desire to actually go out Christmas shopping.

C.Ann, is it easy to make a wish list on Amazon? My DH is always asking what to get me for Christmas and even though I tell him, I think he's have an easier time if he could just buy it online. He hates shopping in crowds.

Yoder is a very common Plain Folk name in Southwestern/South-central Pennsylvania.

And I've done very little Christmas shopping this year. I'm really terrible at it. But I did give my Sis-in-law her presents already - some wonderful soft PJs(that she's already wearing because I wasn't sure of her size so she had to try two different sizes on), a box of Christmas boxes and a selection of hand-made gift-tags...all from Costco. I also gave DBro an early present - a handmade item he made in shop *years* ago for our mom that I had somehow ended up with...he was very touched. I guess I tend to get people things that I know they need throughout the year and give them the item then instead of waiting for Christmas.

And immediate family isn't getting hardly any "stuff" because we're going to Disneyworld for Christmas as our present this year :woohoo: .

agnes!
