So how is the Christmas shopping coming along?

Hey welcome back C.Ann !! Great you made the trip safely and know your family and little DGD are glad to have you back home snug as a bug. :goodvibes

I used to hate C'mas lists also, but the kids would rather buy us something we want or need rather than another item to sit around collecting dust :rotfl2:.
So, as of late, if they ask, we really try to come up with some ideas to help them along. Truthfully, like you, I enjoy giving more than receiving anyway. :goodvibes

Thankfully the Nov BD parties are over, but we still have 5 BD's get togethers the first 10 days of Dec! Then finally I feel like I can start decorating! I am almost done with our grands shopping ~ ordered quite a bit thru Amazon (gotta love the ease, price and quick delivery)!! Thankfully I found the exact Blue Ray player DH was wanting at BJ's'! I'm off tomorrow (actually today now ;) ) so hope to hit mall and TRUs afterwards. I have DS's ready to send out, but I'll feel better once I have our DD's, DIL, SonIL's and my Mom's done! Shopping for our large family does take thought and planning, but I love it!! :goodvibes

I'm almost done, I managed to get alot done today.

My husband is getting a 3 day trip to Anaheim (Disneyland and a Ducks game), so just have to go in a pick up the tickets from the travel agent next week (hopefully).

Son is a Vancouver Canucks fan, so he is getting a bunch of Canucks stuff, slippers, and some $$$

Daughter is getting books she asked for, a computer game and some $$$

Plus a few odds and ends for the kids as well.

I have done a gift bag for my parents, they are in a condo and are hard to buy for, we got them a new TV last year, and well, now they need nor want anything. So, I bought a re-usable grocery bag, and have it filled with goodies (candies, pickle asparagus, their pricey crackers, as well as dish towels and stuff like that), and have added a few gift cards to the bag for restaurants and grocery stores. It was so much fun getting it all put together, and I really think they will like it.

Now I just need to get a few small unwrappables for everyone and I am done :rotfl:

Nope! Not done.

I still need things for my siblings and parents.

This year is the very first time I did "internet shopping". I'm 99% done with everything. Still need to get my youngest a hoodie and baseball hat. Like you, I'm waiting for things to arrive so I can wrap them. A couple items have arrived safe and sound and are now wrapped. Just need a place to store them until the big day. Other than that, I just need to pick up a couple minor little things for the boys stockings.

Even though internet shopping is convenient and all, it just doesn't feel the same. I enjoy walking around the store, checking everything out, picking it up, putting it back (LOL) and then putting it up on the register and paying for it. Strange, I know....but it just doesn't feel the same this year with everything bought online. OH well, there's always next year. :thumbsup2

been done for over a month now! everything has been wrapped, and all packages have arrived where they were going! I have been shopping for myself for weeks now!!:)

Well I'm not feeling great about it all right now. I have 4 children and one is completely done. The other 3 not so much. And - not a pity party- but next week I am having surgery that I have to pay out of pocket for $1000.:sad2: I am hoping to get reimbursed for at least some of it but right now I am $1000 short.

There is one item that I am having a hard time finding for my 7 year old. Who knew that a Pyramid would be a hot item??

Other than that I have a handful left to buy for so I am pretty on top of that.
So to answer your question how is it coming along?

I would say it's still coming along. I am further along than usual at this point. But wish I was done.

I have not bought a single thing, I have no idea what to get the kids:confused3 I am drawing a blank, I know it has alot to do with there age. For Thanksgiving we went to inlaws and all the grandkids were together so I was soo carefule to take tons of pics for a scrapbook or something for grandparents. I took one of all the kids, came home and bought a frame , I was looking through the camera the baby was napping:scared1: So it's not all the kids. I found a good one of the girls playing and I had the boys pose for a pic. No I need to find a frame for both. Here I was happy I had 1 gift done:scared:

I have gotten one...yes, one, gift so far. :(

It's like pulling teeth to get wish lists out of my kids. My older two grandkids already made lists for me, but I have none for DS and DD and the 3 younger grands. I keep telling them if I don't get lists they will be getting coal. ;)

I know a lot of people don't like wish lists, but I really appreciate having them and knowing that gifts I buy for them will be ones that are wanted and appreciated, and won't be shoved in a drawer somewhere or returned for something else.

I hope to be able to do some on-line shopping, but I need to be doing that soon so I sure wish I had those lists. :)

I am pretty close to done but my problem is that the people I have left are people that I don't know what to get for presents!

I WISH I had an Amazon list for them! LOL

I finished my Mom's and Dad's gifts last night. They are divorced and remarried. I made a photo calendar for each of them and included grandchildren from our side as well as their spouses. I put everyone's birthday and anniversary on their respective calendar. Getting the info from the spouses children were the hardest part.

Everything else is pretty much done. I have about 4 or 5 more things to pick up. I am off tomorrow so plan on getting a couple of those then.

rt
ction books - as well as one other book ("Handle With Care" by Jodi Picoult)

..:

DD16 and I are addicted to Jodi Piccoults books....we just finished the Amish one...Plain Truth. DD will get them at the library at school for her Amer Lit class and we will both read them (well I read it first since I can read waaaay faster..lol) then she'll take it back and grab another!

I'm just about done...one or two small things left for dd16, the other two are done and so is everyone else on my list. Taking next Wed off to start wrapping!

C Ann, I love amazon wish lists! Thats how my 9 year old make her list this year, so easy. I am finished shopping for my kids and all the girls in my family, except my sister. I still have to finish my dads, FIL's, stepdads, & StepFIL's gifts as well as 6 guys at work- girls are SO much easier to shop for.

C.Ann, is it easy to make a wish list on Amazon? My DH is always asking what to get me for Christmas and even though I tell him, I think he's have an easier time if he could just buy it online. He hates shopping in crowds.

Yes - it's very easy.. Just go to the home page and on the right you will see "Wish List" - click that button and click on Wish List again.. It's pretty self-explanatory from that point on - just make sure you set your list so that it's "public" - not private.. You will have to choose how people can search for your list - either by your email address, your real name, some crazy combo of your first name and something else, or whatever.. You don't have to list any other info in your profile if you don't want to..

Then start browsing for what you would like and when you click on something to read the specs or description, instead of clicking on "Add To Cart", look down below that and click "Add To Wish List"..

As for the PP who said they missed shopping in the stores this year? The whole reason I got started shopping online years ago was because I realized that it saved me a TON of money!!! Walking around in the stores it was far too easy to say, "Oh, that's cute - Mary would like that even though it's not on her list.." - or - "Oh - that's cute and it's only $2" - or "Gosh, I really like that ornament.. Five bucks? That's not too bad.." - and before you know it, every single time you step foot in a store you walk out $100 "lighter" and STILL didn't get the items that were on your list.. LOL..:rotfl::rotfl:

Do it online - all in one shot if possible - and from that point on, you can turn on your computer, come right here to the DIS, and not have to be "tempted" by all those pretty items in the stores..:thumbsup2

I am pretty much done. We leave for Disney tomorrow so I wanted to make sure I finished up early for both my sanity and my bank account!

I do need to find something for my mom though. My brother and I always do a combo gift. She is usually so easy, but I can't think of anything this year. I am hoping I will see something in Disney next week (she will be with) if not, I will be scrambling when I return.

I need to get my dog something from Santa yet (usually just cheap chew toys that he destroys anyways, he only gets them on Christmas). That dog just loves opening his own christmas presents though....it is hysterical. He will patiently sit and wait his turn...it is so funny. Also some candy type stocking stuffers for DS, but other than that I am done :cool1:

Just wanted to give you a big THANK YOU C.Ann. :goodvibes I would have been here earlier but I spent the afternoon making my wishlist. My husband tried really hard but he's not always the best gift giver. He usually has no idea what to get or he will get me gift cards to the bookstore. I know my little ones like the whole idea of wrapping presents for us and it's hard to do that with gift cards.

LOL.. Glad I could be of service..:) Now has your DH actually tried to access it - so you know that you have it set up right? If not, have him check in case you need to make any changes..

Hope you get some really great gifts!! :santa:

I'm almost finished. I have to get stocking stuffers for DH and my mom (just little stuff like their favorite candies). I'm also waiting on stuff I ordered to arrive so I can get started wrapping. I enjoy the shopping part, but the wrapping is a different story! We leave for WDW on Sunday, so I'll probably wind up wrapping at the last minute.

I used to LOVE to wrap - would go all sorts of creative and fancy - but not so much anymore.. With the carpal tunnel coming back in my dominant hand, it tends to be a pain - literally.. Almost tempted to use gift bags, but everyone here enjoys ripping off the wrapping paper too much.. LOL..

Have a great time on your trip!!!:goodvibes
