so, how did you like Public Enemys?

I have no interest in bank robbers, but I had to see the movie due to Johnny Depp. It was better than I expected. Ran a little long.

I thought was very well done.

Good acting, of course.

Loved the scene where he walks into the CPD.

herc.

Really liked it.
I also was snickering about the walk into the police station.

Really liked it, and of course Johnny was looking soooo good throughout the whole movie :goodvibes

Love that smirk he had for Dillinger and that final scene with him watching Gable was awesome. Read somewhere that Dillinger considered himself the Gable of the crime world.

Hope it wins awards as the acting was really good..:cool1:

Like the movie-

Also liked the PR our city should get from being mentioned several times -

It's exciting to know that Johnny was actually here (to visit the prison) during the filming and actually knows that we exist!

We thought it was just okay.....

I honestly think without Christian Bale and Johnny Depp it would have been terribly long and boring.

Which is how some actors get nominated for awards while the movie itself doesn't. Should be interesting to see if that happens.

Saw it Friday night and LOVED it. I thought it was very well done and that the acting was superb!

I didn't find it too long at all. (but keep in mind I would watch JD hang wallpaper, so my opinion on that part may not be the one to go by:rotfl:)

Would it have been as good without JD and Christian Bale? Probably not, but imho most movies are better because of the actors in them (after all, would we have loved Pirates as much without JD?).

Dh usually only tolerates JD movies for me, but really liked this one. He has even recommended it his friends (that's a big thing coming from him--he doesn't recommend movies very often at all)

I'd give it a C.

The intermixing of the Dillinger story and the Purvis/FBI story did not work, IMO. Too much time was spent on the Purvis/FBI story which was simply uninteresting and Christian Bale's acting is about as interesting as watching a dog scratch itself. More time needed to be spent on the actual characters who were the public enemies -- we needed to know more about what made them tick, what drew them together, etc.

I also did not like the "Intro to Cinematography 101: Class will use every form of film photography possible in 2 hours" class. Ugh, from steady cam to sepia to yellow filter to weird angles that did nothing for the story.

The only reason I gave it a C was because Depp and Cotillard gave it their best.
