So how cool is the Boardwalk view?

We aren't really commando park goers anymore unless we have guests who are new to WDW, so we spend more time relaxing at our BWV room than some folks. Love drinking coffee and watching the joggers in the morning. Love watching people come and go on the Friendship boats during the day. Love feeling like a part of the BW fun while sitting on the balcony and enjoying as adult beverage at night. And of course watching the fireworks in my jammies is pretty cool as well. As others have said, if you won't be spending much time in your room a BW view may not be worth the extra points to you. We ALWAYS book it if it is available.

Very cool in my opinion! I'm in one right now. A little "far" from the elevators, actually as far away as one could be! Room 3001. :rotfl2:

On our first stay at BWV, I was planning on that long hallway hike. It turned out our room was right off the elevator. We overlooked the bus stop, but it was a trade-off. I wasn't expecting much of a view anyway (we booked standard).

Thanks for your input...enjoy your stay! :thumbsup2

Awesome pics, DISfamily!

Sorry for anyone on a late October w/l...I'm keeping my ressies. :)

Love the boardwalk view! I used to book standard to save points but when the boardwalk view became guaranteed, I have not looked back!

Last week I stayed at AKV Kidani savannah view, that was awesome too!

Please elaborate on 'when the boardwalk view became guranteed'.

We plan to try out BWV soon and only want to make a reservation if we can get a Boardwalk View. I was assuming that Boardwalk View/Preferred View meant you got one or the other.

So when I try and make a Boardwalk View reservation, Member Services will actually be checking Boardwalk View availability and not Boardwalk/Preferred View availability?

If the only option is to request Boardwalk/Preferred View with the possibility of getting Preferred View, I doubt we will ever even try to get Boardwalk View and have the chance of getting Preferred View instead.

Every BWV reservation is in one of 3 totally separate categories: standard, preferred pool/garden or preferred BW view. MS will tell you which of the 3 categories are available for your dates when you book. If you want BW view, you will be GUARANTEED a BW view if it is available and that is what you book. Your other alternative is to book a different view and waitlist for a BW view, but of course there would be no guarantee.

Boardwalk and the Preferred views cost the same number of points, but you are booking one or the other, and your reservation will state which one.

Yeah, but all the calories you burn walking back and forth to your room helps justify all those yummy snacks/ice cream. At least that's what I told myself when I hiked to Room 3005 a few years ago.
Boardwalk views are the only view in a resort at WDW that totally blew me away. No other view at any resort has ever come close to that. Just one thing-if you're concerned with seeing the fireworks, you don't have to book a Boardwalk view just for that-I've seen the fireworks very nicely from a standard view room.

So just how cool is a BoardWalk View??

To borrow a line from a young friend from mine...

"It's so cool, it makes ice cream jealous!"

:cutie:

Seriously, as long as you're not trying to book the same studio I am, it's amazing. We really miss it when we don't stay in a boardwalk view - as others said, it's really nice to feel like you're part of the place. We love the sounds and life of the boardwalk when our door is open, and we love being able to watch the action at YC/BC and Epcot. Of course, there are people who dislike it for the same reasons!

Ms WDW.......we were in 3001 a few years back and did like the view of the Boardwalk from that angle and Illuminations is awesome from there also. We've also stayed right across the hall facing the canal several times. On our last stay there .....9/09.....we chuckled about the hallway carpeting.......the further down the hall you walked .....it seemed brand new as compared to the areas nearer the elevators!!

Before sometime in 2004, preferred view could be pool, garden or boardwalk views. You could request a certain view but it was not guaranteed. Requests were supposed to be filled by date of reservation. There was alot of disappointment at the front desk when checking in if you didn't get what you requested, especially if you booked at 11 months. Sometime in 2004, DVC split out boardwalk view to be it's own booking category and it was then guaranteed.

This is the view from room 3001 which is probablay as far down the boardwalk as you can get!

This is another view.

DH and I hit Beaches and Cream last night. He had never been there. Well; he was in his glory!! :) Some people behind us ordered the "Kitchen Sink" and DH couldn't beleive how big that ice cream creation was!!!
