So how bad will 2016 really be?

We are going to see Grandma out near DL in early June and while we are there we are going to DL for the day mostly to the the 60th stuff before it ends. Unless we get hammered with snow days our district tends to end in mid may so if all my stars a line we should be there either Wednesday the 1 or 8th of june before all of the schools down there let out. But with all the ROA attractions closed and the train closed and reports that jungle cruise will be closed as well i'm just not sure what to expect the crowds to do. Will less people come? Enough less to make up for the loss of capacity? Or will it be crowded like never before? I'm not a math person but it seems like the train, river boat and Tom Sawyer all seem like high capacity attractions.

Those are minor attractions

Those are all minor attractions. The biggest loss is Fantasmic.

Is the park crowded in late Jan - Feb? I feel lucky I went to Fantasmic and the Aladdin show. They will be closed down!:sad1:

Normally that time of the year is a slower time, but the 60th celebration has made slow times busier than normal. I would say that time frame will still be lower than other times, but not slow by any means.

Minor attraction does not mean minor capacity.
I think, and I could be wrong, the point was that high-capacity is a meaningless metric if it isn't being filled to capacity. So sure, Tom Sawyer Island can accommodate a large number of guests, but it's not visited as frequently as, say, Pirates of the Caribbean.

The Train, Riverboat, and Tom Sawyers Island have the potential to be high capacity attractions, but they are, in general, less popular, so they don't usually run at full capacity (except perhaps on the busiest days of the years - e.g., the week between Christmas and New Year). I agree that the biggest loss is going to be the train (during the day) and F! in the evening. F! will probably have the biggest impact because it means instead of having two nighttime shows running concurrently (F! and PtN were typically presented at the same time) there will only be one.

Generally, outside of holiday weekends, the parks tend to be on the quieter side during the winter. That being said, as tlovesdis noted, the parks have been generally busier this year since the start of the 60th Anniversary Celebration. Whether that will continue past the holiday season is not known, but I would plan for larger crowds that what has been seen for the last few years, but it'll probably still be less busy than it has been lately.

We will be arriving at DLR on 6/8, I knew about the ROA, Tom Sawyer's Island, F, and the train being closed during our stay, but I hadn't heard about the Jungle Cruise being down. What are the rumored dates (or has it been officially announced) that that attraction will not be running. It won't make or break our trip, I am just curious.

However, as far as crowds are concerned, I am a bit nervous about the levels being so high, especially because of the 60th Anniversary, DH and I have already discussed that our family is going to take it easy while there (we will be there more then enough days to be able to do this)...we will go back to the resort for R&R and pool time during the crowded part of the day and head back for dinner and night time activities. The only thing I am really concerned about is the fact that we will be there during Grad Nights, I am trying to schedule our park days around that but when we were at DLR 2 years ago (we went about the same time) the grad kids went to both parks which made it kind of difficult for us to move around, it was especially hard to eat at certain restaurants because they were obnoxious and loud...i.e. we had dinner at Blue Bayou and could not enjoy our meal because they were yelling at the patrons who were eating. This next time I am planning on making reservations again but this time on a day where there is no grad night scheduled (we couldn't wait to eat here last time) :goodvibes.

Where have you heard this about the Jungle Cruise?

I hadn't heard about it, I was going off what the OP said about how they read reports that it may be closed during that time. I was asking about it for my own trip that will be happening in June.

The biggest challenge you'll encounter is the loss of walkway space. This will create bottlenecks, as the flow of traffic won't be as smooth as it used to be. That extra space to walk around creates more crowding in areas that are already tight.

I can't speak to the RR being a minor attraction but during the first week of Nov. when we were there is was fairly crowded and the two trains that were running were about 90% full. That's a lot of people!
I'm hoping the parks are less crowded overall because off all the closures and construction.
Only time will tell.

I believe there can be up to 5 trains running at a time. We saw 4 in the beginning of October.

There are only max 4 trains on the track at a time. (sometimes only 2 or 3.) There can only be 1 train per station (5 mins between stations.)

We just left Disneyland today and while we rode jingle cruise, we talked to a cast member and he said the jungle cruise was closing for a while but didn't say when and why. They said after Christmas they were going to drain the water
