So excited I was able to book VWL yesterday for our pre-cruise stay next spring.

But also wanted to share our experience in making seven-month bookings. Over the past two years we secured Vero in March, Kidani twice (once in March, again in October), and now VWL. I'm usually making the call precisely on the first available day, but am thrilled we have always had our first pick!

Thats great. I have always been lucky to get my first request too. I think as long as you call first thing in the morning at 7 months and avoid the more popular holidays, food and wine you can usually get what you want. That has been my experience at least :cloud9:

That is true - you need to be strategic. We book home resort for MNSSHP, Food & Wine and Christmas, and for other less busy times we take our chances and have had a great time sampling other resorts.

yay..we've gotten every resort at the 7 month window that we have tried for:thumbsup2

Have been booking at 7 months for 11 years, (almost always during busy times) and we have gotten exactly what we want except for maybe twice, and then we got our second choice. I think it is possible that the people not having success are not booking right at the 7 month mark.

I'm hoping for luck with the 7 month booking, moving our mid-April 2012 trip to BLT (1BR, willing to book any view). Without walking the reservation, my biggest concern is getting the whole week at 7 months, when people have had access to book some of the days of my trip if they arrive in the days before I do...

Thanks for the posting! We are going to be booking our first non-home resort in January (staying in August). I have been worried that we might have a hard time but this thread has given me a little more hope. We want to stay at SSR but have a few backup resorts in mind.

When you call member services can they look up multiple resorts? in case our first choice is booked.

I agree, we have only been DVC members since last September and have changed resorts at the 7 month mark twice (both of which was at BCV). I called right at our 7 month first thing in the morning (I wouldn't be surprised if I was the first caller both times :rotfl2:) and have gotten what we wanted. We also go at off times, if we were going to be going at a more popular time, then I would just stick with our home resort of BLT.

We've had success a number of times as well...

BCV in May, at about 6.5 months...
BWV in Dec, at about 7 months...
and now, for our upcoming stay for Food & Wine, we were able to get 8 consecutive nights at BWV in a standard-view and didn't bother walking the res either. We did have a Waitlist for 2 nights, but that finally came through, so we are golden :good vibes

We own at BLT and stayed there once, but we like trying out new resorts and obviously during F&W it didn't make much sense to stay at an MK resort.

Good luck for all you others trying to book that 7-month window!

We have also gotten our first choice, exactly what we wanted at the 7 month mark. That being BCV during F&W! I also got up early and was on the phone dialing a minute before MS opened and kept hitting redial. I would call about a week before my anticipated date and make sure I was calling on the right day. Often I would be given different answers of when to book but I would call, I haven't cared if they said call tomorrow. We have been very happy and gotten what we wanted. But we also do as everyone else so far, call that morning of the 7 month mark.
