So, do you like the QSDP?

DH, DS2 and I just got back from 5 days on the QSDP. We LOVED it!! It was so easy and so perfect for a family with a child who does not sit for more than 5 minutes...which makes table dining a NIGHTMARE. We enjoyed having 2 snacks per person per day. It made it very easy to have breakfast on snack credits. There were several mornings where we grabbed danish and a bottle of juice, coffee or a chocolate milk. DS2 ate breakfast in our studio every day because he is a fiend for egg whites and turkey sausage at 7AM...LOL.
We learned that Wolfgang Puck Express at DTD and the Flame Tree something or another at AK are the absolute best bang for your buck with the QSDP. I know it might seem like you don't get your money's worth with the QSDP but we felt like we would have broken even had we not eaten at Puck's 4 times...LOL. We made out like bandits by eating there.
It also comes with the refillable mug, which I enjoyed having.
Just a side note - we checked in on the first day the QSDP was released. According to the manager at the Artist's Palette, we were the first ones to try and use it. Our key card would not work. So, they got us another key card...still did not work. So, lunch was on them...LOL.

We are going in March and opted for this plan.

DH and I have gone on DDP before, and that was wonderful for the two of us. We loved having a TS meal every day. This trip, we are taking DD(2) and the thought of doing a table service every day gives me the shivers. She's great when we go out... most of the time. But she's 2 and I think expecting her to behave in a restaurant every night for 6 nights is unreasonable.

To us, the all inclusive package aspect is great. I love not having to budget for food, not having to charge those things back to the room, and I think that in the end it helps us from spending MORE money than we did on the plan.

I know that at the restaurants we prefer for QS, our individual checks would be over $10.

For instance, let's take Toy Story Pizza Planet as an example (my DH has an unhealthy love of arcades, don't ask).

Vegetable Pizza (with mushrooms, peppers, onions, and tomatoes) with Mixed Greens Salad $8.29
Drink - 2.39
= $10.68 (not including tax because I don't know if it's included)

Sure, I could choose cheaper items to save money. But those are the items I am more inclined to order anyway. Plus, our DD is sharing our meals, and I try to have them as balanced as possible.

As for getting sick of counter service food - I think it's all about what you choose and the locations you eat in. If you are choosing places that only have chicken nuggets, perhaps you would. But we don't. So I'm not worried.

So, did they finally separate adult credits from child credits? I hope Disney has done this already.

I was figuring that with the QSDP I could still do a table service(we want chef mickeys & t-rex) and pay oop but with the amount i figured we'd spend at each place(at least 80 at each place), it is just worth it to do the regular one and pay for t-rex oop.

That's what I had thought about as well but with us paying for at least two table service meals. We want to eat at T-Rex and would, of course, have to pay for that out of pocket. We always eat at Rainforest Cafe (even when on the dining plan) so we are used to paying for one meal out of pocket. But, with the savings being so little.......

I even tried to figure, okay, we'll use one of our daily snack credits to get muffins, cinnamon rolls, etc. for our breakfasts. That really didn't make up the difference either. Besides, we drive and are able to bring along our breakfast foods. We aren't big breakfast eaters so we don't want to use our credits on breakfast.

We've been to WDW 13 times and our trips are 10 days long. We know what we want to see and do in each park. We know where everything is located. We spend at least two days in Magic Kingdom, two days in Epcot, a day at Hollywood Studios and a day at Animal Kingdom. We go to a water park on another day. We spend some time at Downtown Disney too. We also know that we will be going to WDW the next year too. Given this, I think that we have the luxury of touring the parks non-commando style but still be able to see and do it all.

Years ago, the quick service plan would probably have worked for us. Our trips back then were just a week long, we had small kids and it took us a while to see everything we wanted to see. I probably wouldn't have wanted to be tied down to a table service meal each night.

But, now that our kids are older, our trips have gotten longer and we consider ourselves park vets, the regular dining plan is better for us.

We've never done the meal plan before, but are doing the quick service because of past experience. The last time we went was with the inlaws and "my" birthday dinner ended up being at a place my MIL picked out (that 50's diner place), but aside from the 40 minute wait (not complaining because we did not have a reservation), after we ordered it took close to an hour before our food arrived! The kids weren't in a good or cooperative mood at that point, which made my husband grumpy, which gave me a headache and with all the "help" and comments from my MIL and SIL at that point....I have no plans on doing another table service until the kids are quite a bit older, or if my husband and I are visiting by ourselves.

I agree with a previous poster that Flame Tree and Puck's Express are wonderful choices for using a CS/QS meal plan.

I went through the menus and cut and pasted which places offer the most unique items that my dh and I like and we plan to use the QS plan on our next trip.

Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences and ideas.

I'd like to know as well. Does anyone have a pix of a receipt on how to keep track of credits?

I read "somewhere" that the Child/Adult are separated on the QSDP. The receipt will reflect how many CS and how many Snack Credits you have left - so you shouldn't have to "track" how many credits you have remaining..

:cool1:

Can anyone confirm this?

My last trip Aug 2008 did not indicate how many adult/child credits are left, just total remaining (adult + child).

That said we have 3 adults, 1 child on meal plan. You could not order 4 adult meals at once. You were required to order the 3 and 1.

That's how it was last March too. I hope they keep it that way, it seems like I might have to actually work(:rotfl2: ) at keeping track of A/C credits otherwise, especially if we dine at someplace like Cosmic Rays that doesn't have a childs menu:thumbsup2

"We learned that Wolfgang Puck Express at DTD and the Flame Tree something or another at AK are the absolute best bang for your buck with the QSDP. "

You were able to eat @ Wolfgang Puck since it does not appear in the list of Quick service restaurants listed for the QSDP. The reason I ask is that I am going in a week and have the QSDP and I am certain my wife would enjoy the food there.

Is there a more updated list of restaurants or should we just look for the quick service symbol?

Has that changed? Cosmic Rays is showing a kids menu on Allears, did they (hopefully!) get rid of it??

Cosmic Ray's has a children's menu, http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2054845 Post 5 has a complete list of locations that currently do not have a Children's menu.

Beware though that quite a few that 'never did' now do have children's menus, and locations are adding these menus with no advance notice.

Sorry about the confusion...my mind was thinking Casey's and my fingers typed Cosmic Rays:upsidedow ....I just think its easier to keep track of CS credits when they're pooled, so the cashier can't charge me a child credit when it's an adult credit.

Yum--hot dog at Casey's:)

We just returned from a 3 day trip and had the QSDP. It was more than worth it. Literally our only disappointment was that we received the YOMD mugs. We have 9 of them now. There are many places that accept the QSDP that are not listed in the brochure WDW gives you. We were able to enjoy the counter service at Japan last night. They also give a dessert with the kids meal, which most of the other restaurants do not do. We added up our receipts today and for $140 for two adults one child for two days, we actually received $230 worth of food/snacks/mug. DH was skeptical, but we now plan on adding this to all of our future trips this year.

Another Dis'er reports back from using the QSDP this year that the Adult and Child Credits are now separated and tracked separately on the receipt.

Could you please direct me to that confirmed information about 2009 CS receipts? I am trying to figure out if I want the QSDP or not. I found sooo many issues with the DDP and waiters using adult credits on us in 2007. I wasted alot of vacation time when mistakes were made. I do not want to repeat it this year. I liked the fact that at counter services it was clear at the register we were 2 adults and 2 children. No hassels!
