So disappointed with Dream Unlimited!

Hi, lynr. Where did you find your countdown? I'm using the tickercentral one now, but would much rather prefer one like yours that counts down to the second. Thanks for any help!

I had a great experience with DU. I would never book with out them now. I picked out everthing I wanted and Marla made all the calls. She got us everything we wanted and she had some great tips that helped us out. I contacted her with my game plane around 100 days out and she took care of it on the 90 day mark. Sorry it didn't work out for you. I hope that others reading these post will give DU a chance and get the great results that we did!
Tara ;)

Try Cruise Planners/Micore travel www.planmycruise.com. All communication is by email AND phone, so no comfusion. They plan most of our trips -- save us big $$$ and always have a suprise waiting for us when we arrive.

I submitted a price quote over a week ago & haven't heard back at all. If they don't answer a price quote, I am not going to trust them with my reservations.

I think a lot of it depends on the travel agent you get at DU. I wish I knew about John's email address back when I used them the last time. I had a good experience the first time through and have referred several friends and family members to them. Almost all had good things to say. I, however, realized that those of us that spend time on these boards "know" alot and that can increase the disappointment when things don't go well. For example, I asked our DU agent to book our MVMCP tickets and to reserve dinner for us at LTT. She told me she couldn't reserve dinner at LTT until the 90 day mark. I wrote back to her and told her I had heard on these boards that you could. She insisted you couldn't. Big surprise that when she called at the 90 day mark that year for dinner at LTT there was nothing available. I blame myself for not bringing it to someone's attention or doing it myself. I guess it pays to be an educated consumer and to take action when you know something is not right.

I have used DU twice for WDW trips and found them very helpful, saved me a ton of $$ on phone calls for PS's, helped snag me a great AP rate even after my original booking had been made. Managed to add an extra night onto our reservation when at first there where none to be found. Cathy went the extra mile to make sure we got the resort we wanted. I can't imagine the time I would have had to spend on the phone trying to find a CM that would work to find what we needed. Plus several airline changes for the bus/luggage, all handled with a friendly email and a great attitude.
All my emails have been answered in a very timley manner, usually within 1 hour of me sending the question, even the silly ones!...LOL
Last week, about the 3 week out mark, I received a email that my completed itenary was ready, went to the site to my account and there is plenty of information, park hours, PS's lots of hints for me to print out.

We are disney vet's but it is nice to have some help from someone who works with disney everyday.

Did you guys know that the *owner* of these boards is Dreams Unlimited?

Your posts will probably *magically* disappear because they won't like these posts when they see them.

Kinda stinks.

Seems to me like the first DU complaint was posted here on May 13, and lo and behold - this thread is still open for you to make that comment.

Furthermore - there's quite a few posts by somebody from DU who has come, not to silence, but to help those who had problems.

I actually made a post complaining about my very first DU agent in 2001 and the thread was NEVER deleted. I was helped and feel that DU is a wonderful agency and am using them again this year.

DU is like any business, it sometimes has customers that aren't satisfied with the service they receive, and they do their best to try and fix the problem. I will gladly use them for all of our future disney vacations. The only thing I don't like, they don't do vacations for EVERYWHERE!! I would use them every year if they did!

To Fantasia, I'm a college student and this is my first time posting, so I'm not sure what you mean by "I keep posting"? This is only my second post.

I apologize if my email upset you and it wasn't intended to. My mom planned a family vacation for us using the DU travel agency and had multiple problems. And like alot of the posters I agree that it usually depends on the agent you get to help you, but the company also needs to be responsible for its agents. But when my mom posted her opinion and outlined what happened, her posts kept disappearing. And when she emailed the webmaster to ask why nobody responded to her, she never got a reply. It's just my opinion...when a message board is owned and operated by a person who has a vested interest in it, it's easy for them to modify as they see fit.

Again I apologize if you felt offended by my comment.

I have had a post removed and actually posted a thread about it a while ago (the post was not slamming any company..it was about the infamous hurricane cruises). The truth is that this is a board that is supported and sponsored by a travel company. Most have had wonderful experiences with DU and I appreciate the fact that we have these informational archives to search through when planning a trip. It is frustrating to have your opinions removed though. I have not seen it often, usually its done when people start fighting and name calling (I can argue but I never name call  )

REcently, I posted a thread with a complaint about Allseas Travel. I did it in haste and without giving their management time to respond. I felt really crummy about that and apologized. I was still miffed about one agent's service but realized that the company had an excellent reputation and I owed them the chance to make good on their customer service (which they did).

DISBOARDs rock! :cheer2:

I have hesitated to say anything about my negative experience with DU, and wish I had had an email address, too.

I made the reservations for our upcoming trip, then got busy with a different trip and was afraid that I would miss AAA rates or PS or something equally catastrophic. So, I turned the reservations over to DU because I had read such raves about them; within 12 hours, I had an accusatory email informing me that the rate I quoted to them was wrong, and that I owed an additional deposit. I knew I was right, I had written confirmations and had discussed the rate at length when I made the reservations. I took my reservations back (actually, DU informed me curtly that they were giving them back), but DU had them so messed up that it took weeks to get them straightened out. And every time I talk to CRO about it, they still (several months later) ask me what the deal is with the travel agent that's tangled up in my reservation.

I just need to post to say that my experience with DU has been wonderful and has only been improving as we near our June trip to WDW. We have been working with Carole and she has been wonderful! I have contacted her with questions and heard back extremely quickly with an answer (usually within 12-18 hours!!!). And she has taken care of every PS/AR request (and we are unfortunately throwing them at her one-by-one ... which makes it a bit more work for her, but she has taken care of everything for us :). Just keeping my fingers crossed that the trip itself goes as smoothly as the planning and preparation has gone.

Good luck to those of you who have not been satisfied with the service; I hope your trip is pleasant!

Actually the boards are not owned by Dreams Unlimited, and they do not have a vested interest in them. Dreams Unlimited is a sponsor of the cruise line board, just like any other paid advertiser.

Dreams Unlimited and the DIS are two separate companies. Yes, the owner of the DIS is a partial owner of Dreams Unlimited, but the companies are not one in the same.

As a moderator on this board I can assure you that the posts are not sensored and removed if someone is not happy with Dreams Unlimited. The boards are here to offer advice and information to other posters, regardless of their experience with Dreams Unlimited Travel or another travel agency. Posts are removed only if they are against board posting guidelines.

I posted a reply a couple months ago about how I loved DU and how I would do it again. I would just like to re-emphasize that statement!!!!!! My TA Barbara took care of my MYW free dining. She let me know about it and she stayed on hold forever getting the package for me and many other people. She answers all my questions VERY promptly and she will be making my 90 day PS very soon. I thouroghly enjoy having her for a TA and I will definately book through DU again!!!!!!!!!!! :flower:

So, if another Disney specialist travel agency, such as Dream Come True Vacations or Small World or Magical Memories wanted to sponsor one of the boards - they could?

When I first heard about the Magic Your Way Free Dining Plan for Septermber I contacted them..I got a form letter saying they are very busy right now, but here is an agent's name and they will get back to me in 5 business days..Now to get that rate you gotta move fast, so I booked it myself and will not be using their services..early bird gets the worm you know... :sunny:

5 business days!?!?! That could mean up to 7 calendar days....Wow....too slow and completely unacceptable, IMHO, for an internet based company.

The agencies that I have used, Dreams Come True and Small World, have always responded the same day - for my last, trip Dream Come True responded in an hour or less sometimes, if not, it was the same day or the next - and even on a Saturday night at 11pm!!

I am using Dream Come True Vacations for my Christmas trip and they are terrific - I would recommend them to anyone.
