So disappointed in WCC...

We've been to WCC 3 times. Only once did we get a waiter that was into it a bit. The other two we happened to get the same guy two years in a row. While he was okay at serving he had no humor at all. It doesn't stop us from going. We still enjoy the stuff that the other waiters do. We find ourselves still laughing because of the antics going on around us. We go not expecting anything and we aren't disappointed. The AYCE meal is very good and is the main reason we go there.

No flames from me either. We went there years ago for my son's birthday (he was wee back then) and NOTHING!! I too was very dissapointed especially after hearing everyone else raving about it. Tables all around us were having a great time and my son kept asking why our waiter didn't like us!! We tried one more time after that, but didn't like it any better. I know it is just hit or miss (like mousekeeping, etc), but after two bad experiences we have never gone back.

Our experience in April was so-so. We had the breakfast skillet which was good and filling. Our server started by not bringing me my coffee. When I asked again (I NEED COFFEE in the morning), he sort of snapped at me, but I assumed that it was part of their "act." When he finally brought me my coffee we were halfway through our meal and DH said I think he really kept forgetting it! We asked for ketchup and while he did scream out for someone to bring us some, no one did! This annoyed DH not because he wanted to be part of the show but he needs his ketchup as much as I need my coffee! I felt very rushed there too. But one good note was because we were on our honeymoon we did get free champagne and our server had everyone congratulate us! I would return there again though.

The Disney website has a photo of the waiter dancing with the children in WCC and bills it as "Disney special and unique dining." It was neither for us last Feb. We had a 2:00 seating for my birthday. It was not busy, but the few other diners around us were having a roaring good time. My husband is very natural at interacting with the cast and usually gets fun responses; this waitress was as dull as a doorknob and seemed ready for her shift to be over. When my husband mentioned that it was my bday, she did have the kids do a pony race in my honor, but it was begrudgingly. The food was just "okay." The topper of it all was that the milkshake machine was broken that afternoon!!! We may give it a try again someday, since we saw other families having a great time. Another poster's analogy about being the last one picked for a team really sums up how we felt.

Because it is advertised that way by WDW, I just think there should be some consistency in the service. I'm not saying I expect a whole list of antics to occur, but something should. Like I said, DH asked for an extra large drink..nothing. He asked for ketchup...nothing. He tried his best to spur our waitress on, but no luck.

I love WCC, but my family rarely gets an entertaining server. Same goes for Prime Time. Maybe it's because we're a small party, just DH, DD, and myself?

We enjoy taking part in the other antics that go on during our meal, though, like the pony races & the inevitable singing of 'I'm a Little Teapot', so we always have a good time! Plus, their skillet breakfast is one of my favorites in all of WDW.

We had a dud of a server at the wCC also but it didn't matter to my kids they got in on everyone else's action. And while we are on the subject the 50's prime time has always been good to us. We always have gotten a full in character waitress/waiter.....we still all laugh about when they made my brother(25 at the time) eat his green beans while she made the airplane sounds.

Is it possible to request a server who is into the antics?

I think it is completely WRONG of disney to not provide (or at least try) the same level of service to all guests. A minimal level of "fun" interaction (ketchup, large glass, fork) should be expected by ALL servers at the restaurant.

i am sorry you had a bad time
i agree that it should be more consistent
i ate thre atleast times in sept 2004
and i love it
one night we didnt want all the extra my mom was sick
they put us in the back and Chef Al came out himself and offered to make my mom homemade chicken noodle soup he also said he owuld have room service bring some up later if she wanted it
the waiters were great and fod was ecellent
they even made us the bandana hats
maybe you could give it one more try :flower:

I think when the staff are busy and the restaurant is packed then the jokes should be secondary to service. I think people's expectations are totally unrealistic. What used to be a few magical moments have become expected now that this info was spread all over the internet. The CM's are in a precarious position. They also have to feel out which tables might not appreciate the hijinks. Although I'd love to dine there I won't because I don't want to be centered out during my meal. The only thing anyone should be guranteed at any non-character meal is polite and efficient service. Anything over that is icing on the cake.

But when it is advertised as that type of restaurant, it should provide some kind of interaction. If the restaurant was crowded, that certainly would have been the excuse. It was not. It was after the usual lunch and before dinner. I would say it was maybe 1/4 full.

If we hadn't already ate here before with pretty much the same result, I would try it again. As I said before, there are so many other places we want to try that WCC will not be on our next list.

I think part of the reason I was upset too was becuase we had the family friends with us who had never been to WDW. Here I am, the "expert on Disney," taking them to this boring restaurant with blah food and terrible service. I guess I was a little embarassed.

We tried to hint that we would love the antics by asking for the large soda, ketchup, etc. She had to know that we were hoping for some interaction.

Whatever happened to Heada Lettuce?? I believe she worked at WCC or still works at WCC. Maybe she is still out there in dis space and could shed some light on this issue. I have never been to WCC but we planned on eating dinner there on our trip in Oct. I have also heard mixed reviews about it but I will be honest, the reason I decided to go there is because of the hi-jinx. I would probably be upset if we got a waiter/tress who was very bland. So, Heada Lettuce, if you are out there let us know.

OMG, Heada Lettuce is our favorite waitress! We've been seated at her table the last 3 times we ate at WCC - and hadn't requested it. She is fabulous! Lots of fun, but not over the top. I hope she is there when we go in July.

I agree... when it's advertised like a "themed" restaurant- they should deliver the goods (so to speak) on that. I would think that's the SAME thing as having a character meal and not ending up with characters... who wouldn't be peeved or disappointed if that happened?

We too had a bad experience like the OP. Our 3 ds have asked never to return there again and we havent. Our male server was very attentive to our dinner needs like refilling the skillet and getting the one ds his endless milkshake but our ds kept getting more madder and upset when they saw all the other tables having lots of fun and interaction with their servers etc. Our server was given a good tip based on his serving skills, however I know it was not to be expected to have him have acting skills, but if it was his tip would be probably cut in half. I just felt so bad because I booked the place based on the reviews here. I kept hyping up to the 3 ds what a great and fun time they were going to have etc. Oh well, lesson learned. Unfortunately they wont change their minds to give it another try. My dh also was not impressed. He said, I dont want to have an interactive meal, oh well, I learned never to book prime time for him etc.

We LOVE M.T. Wallet :rotfl: (can't miss her with her beanie with a spinner on it on her head!) :rotfl2:
She's been there from the beginning and is the BEST!
