So disappointed in WCC...

I know I will be in the minority here, however even though it is Disney we are talking about - unless it was a character meal I was paying for, I wouldn't expect any more entertainment than the meal itself. I have eaten at Prime Time and did not get a waitress who claimed to be "mom" - and thank heavens for that. I am the type of gal who basically goes out to dinner to enjoy a meal that I did not have to cook, and a bonus = I do not have to clean up afterward! Our family has fun wherever we go, and make our own fun. No extra highjinks are needed or necessary. If there is an over abundance of laughter and tom-foolery going on in the restaurant (such that happens at WCC), that would be absolutely fine with me - as long as the goofing off isn't happening at my table. That being said - we are planning a visit to WCC during our next trip and hope to be treated to a nice dinner and a dud for a server, LOL. Seriously, as long as the food is good, and the service is good, they can keep the goofing around to someone elses table.

PS: no FLAMES please but I could do without towel animals also...

I think all the waitstaff should participate or none at all at places like WCC and Primetime....we have yet to get a good server at either place.

We were at WCC on June 6/20. Our server was pretty bland. No jokes, nothing. The ONLY thing she did was bring out the large glass for my refill. She finally made a towel hat for my 7 year old niece at the end of the meal when my niece was trying to make one for herself after she saw all the other kids around us have them. My inlaws and niece were first timers to disney, so we planned this restaurant (and 50's Primetime) without telling them about the going ons....the food was ok, but we were pretty disappointed at the waitstaff interaction, especially when everyone else was having a great time.

I would certainly return just for the food, IF it was something we really enjoyed. It wasn't. As I said, the other members of our party are very fussy with regard to food, so no one else would try the AYCE skillet. I didn't want to be the only one.

I think the main thing that bothered me was seeing all the fun the other tables were having. It was almost like that feeling when you get picked last to be on a team! Why aren't they having fun with us?! Our server was a young woman; unfortunately I didn't catch her name. She was such a dud. She didn't crack a smile. She took the orders so fast that DH didn't even have time to ask for his standard "no tomatoes" on his burger. Oh, and by the way, it was NOT crowded by any means. We ate at 2:45 for lunch.

the young man that brought our meals was funny and actually had us laughing. Sadly, I think his little joke was the high point of our meal.

Oh and thanks everyone! It makes me feel better that others have had a similar experience as we did.

:earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

The food we got was not worth returning for. We also had bad service and no fun at all. We did get the giant coke! We also had kids at our table so I don't think that had anything to do with it. We had dinner there and they were not busy. Three orders were not right and we thought the nachos were better at POP and not as expensive! The meat was overcooked and too dry, no good at all.

Interesting.. we have been to WCC once (recently) and primetime twice (once was recently) and at both places all those times- nada. Never get a good server there it seems!

I wrote this on another thread about asking for a specific waiter/waitress at WCC and about how it depends on who you get:

I think you're absolutely right that it depends on the waiter/waitress. We ate there expecting a lot of fun... nothing happened at our table. The kids were all called up front to ride the horses around, and my kids did have to take a red crayon (all kids did) to one table where a child had asked for a red crayon (ofcourse I didn't understand why they wanted every child who had a red crayon to come to the lady standing by one table- and then afterwards I had to hear whining from my youngest that we had no red crayons at our table! LOL) and we had to ask for hats to be made because we saw everyone else getting them. Right about the time we were finished eating- she finally made one for my youngest two. They wore them for about literally 2 min and then ofcourse wanted to keep them- they didn't get to wear them as long as everyone else! LOL (ofcourse I told them they couldn't keep them).

The rest of the time was nothing different than any other restaurant- except for really slow service by our waittress. I swear I'm beginning to think the dining plan is not a good idea- simply because it seemed at each restaurant we received poor service (they knew the gratuity was already included and we were told to let them know before ordering that we were on the dining plan!) and watched other tables receiving great service.

I have to add that it was even MORE disappointing, as others have said, to watch everyone else having a blast while we have a regular meal like we would at any sit down restaurant (except also the waitress was really slow). It was like we were in another world- while the rest of the restaurant was in another dimension or something. We had the skillet and the food was okay... we didn't go there for the food though. It was disappointing after all the time involved making PS, bus rides to/from there, just to have that meal and watch everyone ELSE having a good time. :(

I have to add that I had 3 kids with me- so it's not a no kids vs. having kids thing. And my children (as described above) were trying to participate in anything they could (when the whole restaurant was involved) because they were bored. They were actually asking if they could go back and play with the blocks up front because they were so bored! They aren't big eaters.. and we didn't go there for the food. :(

This may sound weird but to our family we prefer no one really bothering us while we eat. We don't mind if the craziness happens around us but we prefer to observe, talk amongst ourselves, enjoy our food & enjoy the show around us. Last time we went to WCC we had a friendly waitress & she was great but no antics & we where more than happy. If we happen to stay at the WL we'll go to WCC otherwise we go elsewhere. Just our opinion, just to show you different tastes :rotfl:

Wow, after reading more comments on WCC, I am thinking that perhaps we will skip it this time around..... As I mentioned in a prior post, I personally would prefer a more quiet server, however it would bother me if my children did not have the opportunity to participate in wearing goofy hats and whatever else might interest them in the WCC antics. DH and I could care less about funny mannerisms, however my children are young and would probably get a kick out of a entertaining waitress/er.

It seems that some servers just aren't into the antics that has come to be known at WCC. If the food isn't that great, I don't think I'll bother. Next on my list of places for a TS dinner is Concourse in CR - I know there won't be any hat making and goofing around there, but I have read on the boards that the food is good. So, good-bye WCC, HELLO Concourse.

I believe the purpose of this site is to give your opinion,be it good or bad on a restaurant experience you had. Disney does have at times some not so good service. I experienced it twice at O'Hannas. I did enjoy WCC. Your server can make all the difference in your wanting to come back. I say give it one more try. I will probably break down and go back to O'Hanas when I return in August. The free food plan will make it easier.

DS and I went to WCC in December and were very disappointed. We had the sheriff as our waiter, and he seemed more interested in hanging out at his table of 8, rather than assisting us at all. It wasn't even so much the lack of antics that disappointed us, but the bad service. DS didn't get the coleslaw that was supposed to come with the all you can eat skillet, and when he asked for it, the Sheriff seemed annoyed that he had to go get it. I don't think we will ever return there. That being said, if I could guarantee that we could get a table with Bobby, we would be there in an instant, he was a hoot!

to me, it's what you make of it. next time you go (if you decide to go again) make your own fun! i've only been for breakfast and we prefer to sit and watch the "entertainment." I think the server sensed that, and he was polite but not over the top. if you are not immediately emersed in the action when you are seated, start it off! who knows, maybe the servers just need a little inspiration sometimes...after all, they are paid as servers and not actors :teeth:

I agree partly with that. What I found frustrating was when the server gets too involved in the show and forgets they have tables to wait on. Twice we had two bad servers from the same restaurant. Everyone around us had their food but us. When you have a two year old to keep happy it gets hard. So if I had to vote for entertainment or a good server,I'd go with good service.

I agree about the consistency(or lack of it). Disney does a remarkable job with CMs in so many areas, I don't see the difficulty in getting servers to at least attempt some of the hijinks even if they are just temps.

I totally agree with you. No flames from me :wave2:

You know...I'm starting to regret my reservations for WCC.

DH will be mortified if anyone makes a ruckus at our table or makes him sing a song. In fact, he will flat out refuse, embarrass me in front of a restaurant full of people who are expecting him to wear a napkin hat, then I will get ticked off because he's such a spoilsport, can't he just let go and have fun because we're at WDW, then we'll get into an argument because he's acting like a stick in the mud. All because of a stupid restaurant. :rotfl:

You guys are scaring me! I took my son and GD to WCC in January and our waitress was a hoot. I'm taking my younger son and D-I-L back in Sept, specifically because we did have so much fun in January. In fact my elder son asked me the other day if I was taking his brother and S-I-L to the place with the 'crazy waitress' and when I said yes, he laughed and said to be sure and not warn them and to let it be a surprise like it was for him and my GD.

I knew what to expect, so knew what to ask. The look on my son's and GD's faces when she yelled out to us she'd be with us when she got time and when she threw the napkins and straws at us was priceless. When she asked my GD if she wanted ketchup, screamed 'ketchup' and everyone in the place brought us ketchup bottles was hilarious. I have a picture of her sticking staws in my GD's hair to make her the 'Statue of Libery'. When my son asked for a refill on his coke and she asked him 'who do you think I am "coke boy" a waitress?' and then stomped off to the kitchen to get his 'large' glass of coke and the look of total fear on his face when he asked me "what is she going to do now" was as priceless as the look on his face when she brought out his large glass and ordered him to drink every drop or he'd be doing the dishes. When she stood on a chair and ordered all of us to do the hokey pokey my son or GD neither hesitated, but immediately jumped up because they were too scared of what she might do if they didn't. I don't remember her name but remember it was totally different from her name tag, because my GD argued with her that it was spelled wrong. I hope we get the same waitress in Sept though.

My family of six went three times to WCC last week. Two experiences were for breakfast. One on 6/19 (Father's Day) and the other on 6/23. We all got the breakfast skillets which were outstanding. The other was for lunch 6/21. We had sandwiches and the food was good.

I was worried on 6/19 when our party of six was seating in an alcove away from the main dining room. We arrived at 8:00 and there were plenty of tables for six in the main dining room. Our waitress was Diana (maybe Diane. We could hear the antics in the main room, but couldn't see them. We were with grandparents that had never seen the action and we were upset at being out of the action. We complained to Diana that we were not part of the action and wanted to be moved. Well - she didn't move us, but we had a great time. The grandparents got taken into the main room and introduced to the crowd. Everyone was told that they felt left out. They had them riding ponies and singing you are my sunshine around the restaraunt wearing their napkin hats. They got into it and our kids loved it. For the rest of the meal, we received lots of ketchup, had straws thrown at us, got picked on for making a mess at the table, and generally just had a great time with the waitress and eventually enjoyed the antics at the few other tables near us once they were seated.

Our next adventure was lunch. We had a great server and was in the main dining room. We had fun, but really enjoyed the antics around us. This time we saw a lot of new antics that we had never seen before.

Our final dining experience was breakfast. The server was a dud. No jokes, no hats, no ketchup runs, etc. But we still had a great time. It was like being in the audience of a show instead of participating. We experienced plenty of laughs based on the antics of the other wait staff.

I would definitely reccommend WCC. Breakfast is great, lunch is OK. The atmosphere is wonderful.

I know I will be in the minority here, however even though it is Disney we are talking about - unless it was a character meal I was paying for, I wouldn't expect any more entertainment than the meal itself.

No flames here, but I must gently disagree with this statement. Part of what Disney pushes about certain restaurants, including WCC, is the fun aspect of it, the interaction with the servers or characters as the case may be. Thus, you go with expectations. . .expectations that Disney has fully bought into and exploits. So, when you go to WCC, it's perfectly okay to anticipate that you will have a server who can make or break the entire experience.

When I go to AP or any other upscale restaurant, I have expectations, too. I assume the food will be excellent, the service topnotch, the wine delightful, and the desserts sublime. If not, then I have every right to be disappointed. The same goes with WCC since they boast of having a rootin'-tootin' good time served up with tasty food. If I don't get both, then I should feel that my time there was wasted. The truth is, each of us carries varied expectations into each eatery we visit, and while simply watching others have fun at tables around them may work for a few, for many others (myself included) the whole idea behind WCC is the rowdy behavior.

For the record, I've been to AP twice and thoroughly enjoyed it both times. I've also been to WCC twice (with DW and DD4 in tow) and each time the service, food, and "fun" factor were lacking. We'll be hesitant to ever go there again, but that doesn't mean WCC won't work for others. As many have noted before, the unique thing about dining at WDW is the sheer number of options available. All in all, we're fairly lucky folks, aren't we? :earsboy:

:rotfl: we have never dined at the WCC but i think i will make a point to go and not tell my DH< and 2 DS about this, we are regulars at the Prime time Cafe in MGM, we go there for the "show" the last 2 visits though were dissapointing, i know when you go to dine you go to eat, but when you are paying 15.00 for a piece of chicken you are going to be part of the whole act. We always have a great time until 2 visits ago, our waitress was a DRIP!
we nicknamed her queen qualude, she had as much personality as a hibernating hyena. she was awful, everyone around us was laughing, getting put in time out, being pointed at, clearing tables, ya know the whole act- we had our kids with us so the theory about having kids with you to have the "experience"---- false! So we complained to the management when we left, our waitress never came back to our table after we got our food, my food was wrong and they put cheese on my sons food after we told her my son was allergic to dairy- she was awful!!!! so when we went back 5 months later we figured we would have a great time, give it one more chance, we got seated and our waitress came- guess who???? queen qualude.....
moral of the story? I think disney is concentrating more on quantity and less on quality. we will never dine there again.(prime time)

thank you i feel better now :rolleyes1 :wave2:

We did try to have our own fun, but it doesn't change the fact that we weren't part of the "action."

Of course everyone has different likes and dislikes, and for some, the whole "whoopin' hollerin' time" might not be to their liking. My point was that we went hoping we would have some antics. Not only did we not, but our service was terrible.

As we had a room overlooking the lobby, before every meal, I heard the, "Come and get it!" being yelled through the lobby. I peeked out sometimes, being curious about all the noise and saw people having loads of fun. I also saw lots of people walking around with napkin hats.

As this was the "second chance" for WCC, I don't think we'll go back. There are too many other restaurants to try.

Like I said, I appreciate everyone's responses...It makes me feel better!
