So, did the Poly announcement throw a curveball into your VGF (or other DVC) plans?

I was on the fence with addonitis/VGF incentives and now this? After pondering for days and going back and forth over buying some direct VGF points, we decided we prefer Poly so I put in an offer YESTERDAY on some Poly resale points that was accepted at 9am this morning. Now, do I sign the contract or let it slide? Decisions, decisions. D$^n you F*&#ing DVC and your evil ways...

I am waiting until we hear details including possible resale restrictions. Was on the fence about GF2, possibly was going to use as SAP. No longer on the fence. If Poly2 has resale restrictions then I think I will pass on both.

What made you pass on VGF2 they don't have restrictions and should be great for SAP.

If I was in the market for more points I'd seriously consider the new Poly. Not a fan of the VGF2.

Who says it has to be either/or? Haha. I added onto VGF but that’s two more years to save for Poly. I may sell some SSR points. But no regrets on VGF. Really, aside from a pool, why can’t you enjoy both regardless of where you buy? They are walking distance apart.

I was thinking of GF2 as SAP at DLT - purchase price and dues will likely be lower (maybe much lower) than DLT. I also think DLT will have resale restrictions which we are not fans of. Ideally these SAPs will also double duty for the occasional extra trip to WDW or when we have extended family or friends come with. We are not fans of VG2’s theming and the point chart. If Poly2 is part of the same association without restrictions then we will add (we like the resort much better). If Poly2 doesn’t work out then we might just add to our CCV points. CCV works well as SAP and we love the theming and legacy point chart.
Of course plans will completely change if DVC comes out with a new 50 year condo association at BC/YC or BWV!

Edit to add that I am also passing on GF2 to see what happens with Poly2. By the time Poly2 details come out, the current incentives for GF2 will be long gone. I would regret buying VG2 now if Poly2 details came out favorable but not the other way around.

GF2 as SAP at DLT

I would not bet on this at all. Yes DLT will be larger but there is going to be a bunch of people buying simply to stay there. With WDW there is more movement because people do look to move from VGF/POLY/RIV to lower priced options like AKV/OKW/SSR. Also at WDW people are not so worried about locking in their vacation by 7 months since there are so many resort options most of the year.

I wouldn't buy a WDW resort as SAP for DL unless you are okay to fallback to a WDW stay or have max flexibility for just 1 or 2 nights at a time at DLT.

Excellent points. We are local to DLR and flexible as to when we visit. Luckily we’ve been able to pick up a night here and there at VGC so I’m hoping for the same at DLT. If we were not local then I would buy DLT.

It actually clarified for me. I’ve spent years thinking about it, and decided last Friday. I really love Poly, but knowing I can get a studio at Poly at 7, which seems MORE likely now - decided to go with the bird in the hand instead of the bird in the bush. I’m happy to be going VGF. Though I’ll need to hit Trader Sam’s before 2024 when staying.

I’m a little interested in new Poly if there are 1 and 2 bedroom units and it’s included in the current Poly DVC. We won’t buy points that have resale restrictions if you sold like Riviera. We have a lot of points now, so we don’t need more but Poly was always a favorite, but we don’t do studios.

Does the opposite for me. I’ve been watching Poly resales carefully and this really turns me off. The idea of adding a large(unknown) number of guests to the Poly isn’t something that will be good for guests. The resort is known for its relaxed and laid back atmosphere …this will do the opposite. Good luck waiting for that already overcrowded monorail 😂

This is our thought as well, we like to visit the poly, but not fans of either of their pools. We just added GFV2 points and we had the same discussion, even if poly was for sale now we would still go with GFV2. Once the poly is complete and if there is a new wow factor (amazing new pool) will will not add on there.

It certainly gave me a shock - it was 5 minutes after signing our papers on VGF2 this morning that I saw the Poly2 news. Just last night our family discussed how Poly was and always will be our family's first love.
BUT 2 years seems a long ways a way and I've already earmarked those new 150 points for the next couple of years so reneging on the contract and waiting doesn't appeal to me either.
Might be I sell our BLT points to get in on that Poly action when the time comes.
I really did not see that news coming down the pike, or at least I certainly did not see it coming THIS week!

Yes. We are staying at the Poly this year and we were planning to stay at the Poly on our next trip in ‘24.

We were hoping our youngest wouldn’t grow too tall for the pull out bed by ‘24 - now, no worries! That was our one major problem with Poly. Or.... dad and son would sleep in one queen, while mom and daughter slept in the other.

Now with this great news, we can get a 1 or 2 bedroom then! Just need to get more points by buying Poly 2 when it comes out! 2 years out is good. Plenty of time to save money for it!

Oh, and the construction is on the opposite end of the resort where DVC is, so construction shouldn't bother current DVC owners.

Yep, I was going to buy VGF2, but I put in for a 300 point resale at Poly today. I really like both resorts, but I like the point chart better at the Poly.

This board always advises to buy where you want to stay. I have always wanted to buy at VGF and regret so much not getting in on this resort when it first went on sale. I could not wait to buy and am happy beyond words that we now own at my fav resort!

Next add on will be DLT if all goes according to plan but I look forward to seeing this new Poly building and its bells and whistles. Will definitely try for a visit when this building is complete.

I was thinking of adding on direct Riviera after our small SSR resale contract closes (love the Skyliner and Epcot might be our favorite park), but I love the vibe of the Poly and enjoy the MK area immensely. Going to explore various resorts with SSR points for now and hold off on Riviera (though I eventually want some direct points to be able to stay there) We were only going to add 50-75 points, so holding off won't mean missing out on incentives. Not sure what we will do in 2024 now!

I've been considering a small VGF add on but I like this new tower. Heck I was wanting to buy Reflections and this looks a lot like Reflections. I know, its not well themed etc..I agree, shush I like it. Problem is I am getting into the realm of having more points than sense for our needs.

Adding a third home resort at WDW means I would have to bank and be forced to visit every year to make it work. Right now we go for 2 weeks annually but have the choice to bank and go every 2 years in a 1 bed.

As much as I am partial to this new Polyflections Resort, it would be wise to add on to VGF.
