We own points at SSR and are set for our trip to Disney at the end of May to the BWV. I thought that was the BEST place to stay at after reading all about it and visiting it when we were there in September, but it seems like all I hear now is how wonderful the BCV are. Please advise if we should switch our accomodations from BWV to BCV or did we make the right choice. We are travelling with an 8 yr old and a 19 month old. Not sure if that makes a difference when advising us where to stay.

It's probably a moot point now. The odds of you being able to book a room at BCV on 45 days notice are not good.

Most people speak very highly of both resorts. The pool at BCV is like a mini water park, which is why some people favor BCV over BWV. Other than that, the rooms are virtually identical and the location is the same. IMO, you probably can't go wrong with either resort.

I also have SSR point and am making my first trip to someone else's home resort. In my case, BCV. Whether you should switch or not is a matter of opinion. It is also a matter of availibiltym have you checked to see if that is even an option at this late date.

Also, I took my son to WDW when he was 5 and left his 2 year old sister home with his grandparents. How much fun can your 8 year old have with a 19 month in tow. It is not like she will ever recall that you left her home and missed a trip to WDW. If you have anyone at all at home that you trust, I would like the baby and the stroller home and give the 8 year old the trip of their life.

Anyone else disagree?

I would stick with what you have. Every resort is terrific and there's no reason in the world not to start with BWV. Eventually, you might want to try out BCV and their SAB pool area. However, BWV also has a terrific pool area and is located in roughly the same area as BCV.

You will no doubt see many differing opinions, however, I will unequivocally say BWV is GREAT! You should not hesitate to keep the reservation.

Each DVC has pros and cons and you should weigh the options to determined which works best for you.

in this case BWV v. BCV

BWV has Boardwalk and Community Hall, which provides many options for onsight fun, BCV is close to Boardwalk and does not have a community hall.

BCV has access to SAB (the Pool at BC). SAB is a great pool and worth trying, but IMHO is not a reason, in and of itself to stay at BCV over BWV (Some will disagree). Luna Park at BWV is also a great pool and your 8 year old will love the keister coaster water slide.

Both are close/walking distance to MGM and Epcot.

Each of them provide you plenty of opportunity for peace and quiet.

My DSs (6 and 2) loved BWV. Your kids will love it too.

Oh boy, I feel like I'm back on the cruisecritic boards with that above comment. My 19 mth old DD and my 8 yr old nephew ARE coming with us and we WILL have a GREAT time, just like we did on our cruise when our DD was 5 mths old and she came with us then too!!! What's with the leave the kids home attitude I run into all the time!!??????? I know she won't remember being left home, but I'll remember it.

This is only your first DVC trip. You will have 50 years of trips to try the other resorts.

Speaking just about bringing small ones to WDW, and not which resort to go to (I really have liked every one so far):

Everybody's choices are different, certainly, and you just have to decide what will work best for your family.
My children's first trip to Disney is actually one of my favorites. DS was 6 1/2, DD was all of 18 months old. She had a great time!! No, she doesn't remember it now, but we have wonderful pictures to show her.
If I had been the only adult on the trip, things might have been too difficult to bring her at that age, but between DH and myself, we were able to let DS on the rides while one of us was with our 18 month old.
Some of my favorite pictures with characters came from this trip... DD loved Minnie/Mickey's house in Toontown :

Thanks to all for your advice! Sounds like BWV will be beautiful. Maybe BCV will be our next trip. I think my nephew will love the water slide at BWV anyway!!!!

One advantage my DS discovered when traveling with our DD3 was Baby Swap - he got to go on all the cool rides twice. He also enjoyed showing his sister all the things that he enjoyed "when he was little" (his other trip was when I was pregnant & he was 5). One advantage for us was he was old enough to be trusted with her in area's like donald boats and the squirting fountains - they loved them and DH & I stayed dry!

Have a great time. Do not concern yourself with where you are staying, all the DVC resorts are great. Don't forget to bring those special diapers for kids to put on in the pool, what are they called swimmies or something like that. Well you know what I mean. Your little one will love it down there. I brought my kids when they were that age they loved it.

I own at BCV and have stayed at the BWV. I have to admit that the BWV are better. Keep your reservation.

The only thing that BCV has on the BWV is SAB.

I agree with this, but not if your children are small. SAB is so big that it is very difficult (if not impossible) to properly supervise your small kids without being right there next to them. At Luna Park, you can play with the little one in a shallow area or the kiddie pool and easily keep an eye on your 8 year old - even if he is on the slide. Stop by Community Hall and check out a swim vest for at least the 8 year old - at no $$ charge for members. With that, he's good to go for the slide all by himself (if he wants to), and you will have a little more peace of mind. My SIL did that for my 5 year old nephew at life guard's suggestion. Nephew could dog paddle a little bit, but wasn't really a swimmer. With the vest, my SIL didn't feel the need to stand near the bottom of the slide "just in case" - much to my nephew's relief. He thought he was doing just fine and who needs Mom hovering over you in a swimming pool? (his words, LOL)

ANYWAY, quite second guessing yourself! As others have already said, you have many, many trips yet to take. Plenty of time to try out all the resorts and see which one you like the most (if you can even choose, LOL) . No need to stress out over your choice for your first trip - you will have a wonderful time!

Plus she will see it in pictures later on and be like where was I? AND what if the 8 year old wants the younger one to come. It is an amzing lesson to show a child something for the first time even if they will not remember it the older one will. I would never leave a kid home but JMHO.

We bought sight unseen last summer and had the worst time deciding between BCV and BWV. The final decision came down to the resale contract that we found that had a lot of extra points tied to it...so we bought at BWV. Until our first stay at BWV a few weeks ago, I spent months hearing great things about BCV, and kept second guessing my purchase. When we stayed at BWV, we really loved the location to the parks, the Boardwalk itself including the nightlife, my kids loved the pool and especially the slide, and they really enjoyed the Community Hall. We went over to the Beach Club several times and ate there, checked out the beach, and even rented a water mouse. My kids were impressed by the looks of SAB...but when I asked them if they wanted to stay there the next time we came...they all said no, the Boardwalk was their home. What I'm basically saying is that these two resorts are so close together, its almost like being at one big resort on opposite sides of the lake. The only difference in my opinion is SAB, which for some may make their trip and others can do without. Either way though, you can enjoy both resorts and your nephew will love the slide at BWV
