So confused! AP+QSDP question

My husband and I are going down for 3 nights in a few weeks and we are thinking we would like to add the QSDP. We have annual passes and are staying at POP. Do we have to buy a one day ticket to add the QSDP or is that only for free dining? If we want to add it, do we need to call Disney now or can we just add it on at check-in? Thanks in advance for any replies...I have no knowledge about the dining plans!

You only have to buy a ticket for free dining.

You will want to book an AP ticketless package with dining. You must add it no later than 72 hours before your check-in date, so you have to call Disney. You can't add a dining plan at check-in.

Adding a dining plan will also make your reservation a package, so if you're already within 45 days of arrival (as your ticker says you are) you will have to pay off the package as soon as you add the dining plan. If you've already paid for the room, you'll only have to pay the amount of the dining plan for two guests.
