Ok so after so many obstacle freak outs, panic attacks, and even severe car accident its gonna play out all for naught?! We have a conference this week and we leave in two days the only day we have for a park is the 20th and we don't get to go to the magic kingdom till 1pm
It's scheduled to be thunderstorms and high crowds, and now everyone going to the conference has been told there's a high chance we won't be admitted into the park due to crowd levels and our timing. So that's it we lose? I have an ADR for be our guest and it was supposed to be park day would be highlight of the trip and now with being told we probably won't get in I wanna cry :(

I'll keep my fingers crossed that everything goes as planned! Hang in there <<hugs>>!!
ETA: If you are planning to be there Dec 22 I have a 5:20 pm BOG for 4 people I am planning to cancel. PM me to coordinate.

I wouldn't worry. I stay away from WDW at peak times, but seems to me the occasions of actual closures due to crowd level are pretty much restricted to the actual holiday--Christmas day, 4th of July, etc. Even though the days, and sometimes weeks surrounding the holiday are slammed, closures are pretty limited. The Sunday before Christmas? Totally slammed, but I bet they won't close.:earsboy:

I feel your heartbreak.

Why won't you get in? It will be a crowded day, but the following Saturday right after Christmas will be busier.

Is it a special conference ticket? MK is open until 1 am. So, even arriving at 1 pm should give you a good amount of time in the park.

First of all, don't worry about the weather. They say there is a chance of rain almost every day in Florida. Most places never see any. In fact, it hasn't rained here in a couple of weeks and I don't think that will be changing soon. This is our dry season.

Even though crowds will be heavy on the 20th, you may still get in. If you can't get into MK, you could probably get into one of the other parks.

Try not to fret.

Really? We will be there from the 20th to the 23rd, and I didn't think parks would close. I've never heard of them closing other than from Christmas to New Years. We have a lot of hopping planned.

Don't worry, the chances of MK closing this coming Saturday are practically zero and it will be open until 1am for everybody.

The chance of precip on Saturday is 40% in the afternoon and 3% in the evening. In other words, a relatively dry Florida day.

I think you'll get a solid 12 hours in MK.

With an ADR for BOg you'll only be shut out on a level 4 closure and that is extremely unlikely :thumbsup2

We arrive on the 20th and probably won't get to MK till 10:00pm :)

Remember there are 4 levels of closures. You have a reservation so that would put you in the 3rd level I would suspect. This taken from touring plans I don't know if it is the most up to date or not though.

Phase 1 Closure

Casual visitors are turned away at the automobile toll plazas. This means that people without tickets, those with one-day, single-park tickets, and those intending to use cast member passes will not be allowed to park.

Other guests may enter:

Those with multi-day or multi-park tickets
Those staying at a Disney Resort
Annual Passholders
Those re-entering the park that day.
Those "hopping" from another park.
Those with in-park reservations or appointments.
Those arriving via Disney transportation

Phase 2 Closure

The following guests are allowed through the turnstiles and into the parking lots:

Those staying at a Disney Resort
Annual Passholders
Those re-entering the park that day.
Those "hopping" from another park.
Those with in-park reservations or appointments.
Those arriving via Disney transportation

Phase 3 Closure

The following guests are allowed through the turnstiles and into the parking lots:

Those staying at a Disney Resort
Annual Passholders
Those with in-park reservations or appointments.

Phase 4 Closure

The park and parking lot are closed to all arriving guests.

We only have that one day for the park the 20th, everyone I've talked to has said that due to capacity we won't get in due to not being able to get to the park from our resort at the contemporary until 1pm. We leave the 21st we were planning on 1pm-3am thanks to EMH but now I've been told that I might not even get into the MK that day
I don't mind rain as it thins out crowd thunder storms though just hate due to rides closing
I'm happy to see some people say hope isn't totally lost at getting into the park though it's just gonna put a lot of stress on the rest of the trip :(

Dude, your talking about the Saturday before Christmas. I don't think that day has ever been busier than Thanksgiving day, right?

So here is a picture of the entrance to Magic Kingdom this past Thanksgiving.

At 1pm in the afternoon.

You'll be fine. Take a picture for me when you get there - we'll compare. :)

And since you are staying at the Contemporary, you'll be able to take advantage of EMH until 3am. That's 14 hours in the Magic Kingdom, Dude.

Rest up.

I know it sounds lame but I am a magnet for bad luck just two days ago I was in an awful wreck from getting my car ready to drive down its now totaled, mom got upset and bailed on the trip for a few weeks, several other things can't mention
I really hope everyone on here is right, but it's hard not to expect the worse

Who is telling you you might not get into Magic Kingdom that day? Disney? Or someone at the conference? If at the conference, ignore. Just totally ignore unless she/he works for Disney. As in a Cast Member, not someone who books conferences for Disney.

Magic Kingdom closing down for the day on December 20th? Someone chime in the last time that happened and I would be surprised it actually did happen on that day for any other reason than a one time event and a one time event is not for crowds.

Ease up - you are fine. All will be well and it will all end well.

Well, that's not true *now*, is it?

Staying onsite AND having a reservation for BOG gets you in even in stage 1, 2, and 3 closures. It's only with stage 4 that you'll be locked out, and what people here are saying is that that isn't likely on that day.

Friends?
Conference organisers?
Disney staff?
DIS folks?

I know who I'd believe :)

We're going to MK on the 20th about 6:30 p.m.
I'm the worrying kind. I'm not worried about the 20th.
Yes, it will be crowded; but we're going. :)

Since you're a believer in luck... You know how people sometimes say "my luck ran out?" Well if good luck can "run out" so can "bad luck." Sounds like you're about out of bad luck for the time being. :earsboy:

I would be utterly shocked if the magic kingdom reached any closure level on December 20th - ive been there the last three years on December 20th and never has it even been close

You're panicking about nothing. You have an ADR, which means that if there is a level 1, 2 or 3 closure YOU WILL STILL GET IN THE PARK. If there is a level 4 closure, you wouldn't. But those happen so very rarely, usually midafternoon on Christmas and New Year's Day and (sometimes) on Thanksgiving. A random Saturday a week before Christmas isn't going to bring a level 4 closure. It will be wall-to-wall people crowded in the afternoon and evening, but you will have NO PROBLEM getting into the park.

Stop freaking out.
