my DH asked "Oh, do you want me to take out the trash?" He does this EVERY time I start to tie up the trash bag and lift it from the kitchen trash bin.

No! I want him to NOTICE that the trash needs to go out and take it out on his own. My second choice would be for him to just keep his mouth shut when I take it out. I don't mind DOING it but it drives me crazy for him to pretend not to notice that the trash is overflowing and then offer to "come to the rescue" as I take care of it.

*whew* Thanks. I needed to let that out. :p

That happens here all the time, 3 able bodied men and who takes out the trash.... ME........ I get oh I didn't it needed to be taken out......... (meanwhile it's overflowing) duh..... men

Add my house to the list....LOL!! :teeth:

Peggy, I didn't know my DH had another wife, I thought that was illegal in most states. I've even gone so far as to leave the cabinet door open with trash propped up beside it, he will take the trash and push it down in the trash can as much as possible then shut the door:rolleyes:

Sounds familiar. My DH is king of fitting too much in the garbage bag.

And if he truly can't fit any more in it, he gets a new bag and puts the garbage in it and leaves it on the kitchen floor. UGGG!

I put the trash by the back door, outside the backdoor and all 5 guys at my house will walk over it until I say would you please take that to the garage or the street.

Same with putting things (heavy or not) at the top or bottom of the stairs when I am cleaning and they will ALL climb over them to get up and down the stairs. Why do we have to ask for just a little bit of help??!!

It's everyone's trash and stuff, not just mine!!!:teeth:

I think my DH would rather trip over the garbage when he goes in and out of the garage door.

Hey, we're guys. All you have to do is say "please take out the trash":D

I think I can do ya one better. If we run out of trashbags, instead of driving 5 min to the grocery store that is literally DOWN the street from us and buying MORE bags...he will just put garbage into the trashcan. I ended up having to buy a new trashcan a couple of months ago because he did this and it got all moldy and icky on the inside.

Add my house, too. I usually end up taking it out to the garage myself or it will pile sky high.

I'm sorry - I've got the opposite problem. DH is so obsessed with the trash - he takes it out before it's even half full.
We should have shares in GLAD.
However, he is still a man.........out goes the trash, but he NEVER replaces the kitchen bag. So I throw something in......splat! and now I have to clean out the can!
I guess it's a man thing......

When I do something like take out the trash my husband will say "I would have done that for you".

a. you didn't
b. why is it "for me".

pet peeve of mine big time.

I've tried that a few times. I get that "in a minute". The minute stretches out a day or 2 until I take it out anyway.

That's exactly the point.
We shouldn't have to point out to you that the trash needs taken out, you should be able to see it with your own two eyesballs.

R I G H T!! Why should we have to say "please take out the trash"? Do you have to ask "please make me dinner"?

I can't even remember the last time my husband took out the trash. I do it all the time. For that matter, I can't remember the last time my husband vacuumed, did a load of laundry, cooked dinner, washed dishes...Oh, no, don't get me started!!

Oh no! Now I feel guilty for starting this thread. My DH does 90% of the laundry and 75% of the cooking and dishwashing, all without any prompting.

It's just the trash thing and the general cleaning that he seems to have a blind eye towards.

I dont know if you all know the episode of Everybody loves Raymond with the "big fork and spoon" but my DW and I do this with the trash, she will fill this thing to near bursting and I keep wondering when she is going to empty it, but do you think I would take it out noooo! And she wondering why I keep walking past this thing overflowing. Its a batlle of wills and I lose because in all fairness she does do more than her fair share.:teeth:

i've got a good one about the trash.
everytime my husband notices the trash is full, he starts complaining that I CREATE TOO MUCH TRASH!!!

WHAT???!!!

know what's worse? my dad says the same thing to my mother!
we've often said that one day we're just not going to throw anything away and see if they prefer that.

op--i just noticed. did you say that your husband does most of the laundry, cooking and dishwahsing without being asked????

what is your secret?

LOL. My DH is a stay-at-home dad so he has more time to help around the house than the typical DH. He doesn't seem to mind an overflowing trash can or a cluttered/messy room but he is great about the day-to-day "gotta do" chores like laundry, cooking, and dishes. ::yes::
