So after a few changes and many things changing from people not being able to go and friends changing and swaying back and forth from staying at the Fort and renting a rv to thinking about staying at Art of Animation finally I pinned the family down and we are back on track to the camping at Fort.So i think you all will get sick of me posting probably stupid questions and asking for weird of the wall advice but here are a few things that as I was sitting at work I thought to ask you expert Fort goers....

1. Does Disney CM collect the garbage from your site daily or is there someplace where we take it?

2. Like I mentioned I am renting a Pop up now because its only my daughter and her friend and I need to bring with me my own blankets but being that we are camping in August should I bring just a few light blankets or plan for cooler nights? I don't want to bring anything big because we are flying back and need to ship them home or check in to the airline My husband is driving us down because he only gets a week off and he wants to see his son in the marines at Norfolk. i was thinking of using space bags

More will be coming have a good one everyone
Tink:)

I can't answer the weather one regarding blankets, but I can answer the garbage one. Each loop has large garbage cans stationed at various spots along the road. Normally every 2-3 campsites we saw one. Never a far walk, and they must empty them ALOT, because no matter now many bags of garbage we brought over, they were NEVER full. They also have a little recycling bin set up there as well. Hope that helps!

Wet and warm is how I think of August in Disney World. The average low is 73 degrees but there have been some cooler nights. Maybe sweatshirts or warm pajamas would get you through cooler nights. We ship our cloths via UPS and have had great results. Good luck!

tinksgilr,

I don't mean to laugh :lmao: (ok, I do) but nights in August and talks of blankets make me giggle good naturedly. :goodvibes

A popup rental should have an AC that you can use to regulate how hot/cold you want it inside at night. Other than basic sheets, you could bring a blanket or fleece spread but you could accomplish the same with sleeping in clean socks, sleeping in a long sleeve t-shirt, or long pajama pants (all old Boy Scout tricks). I'll skip the stocking cap on the head. ;)

Like massmickeypal said, August is wet and warm. It will rain nearly every day and the heat/humidity mix may be tough for someone from Michigan in a Florida summer.

I'm glad to hear you finally got folks pinned down and will get to the Fort FINALLY. I'm here in Bama-land pulling for you!

Hi, neighbor! (We live right near you!) I might pack a couple of light fleece blankets, just in case, but that time of year, I'm more worried about melting than anything else, lol! We have a couple of the fleece blankets that we got there as a purchase-with-purchase over the years, and I always bring those...they're very light and fold up small. You're never more than a few steps away from a trash can or recycling station at the Fort, it seems, so no worries there. I hope you have a great trip! We won't make it back there until 2015, and I'm going through Fort withdrawal.

We almost always go in the summer months due to kids in school. I'll second the "wet" comments. Expect it to rain every afternoon for at least an hour. Some days it may rain for longer. You may get lucky and have a dry day or so.

As for needing blankets, only if the popup has a REALLY good air conditioner.

Seriously, August is HOT! I have never packed anything but shorts, t-shirts and ponchos. I may have taken a jacket once or twice since I had the camper, but I know I have never worn it.

Think "surface of the sun with rain" vs UP
