So about this Hurricane - 10/7 Dream cancelled, 10/7 Magic Canadian, 10/8 now 10/9 Fantasy 6-night

in similar situation in the past DCL was able to use Port Everglades to bring the ships in and off load / load providing bus transportation to Orlando and Canaveral as weather permitted. By Friday Ft Lauderdale will be well outside of the storm ...

just a guess, but it is what they have done b4

That makes perfect sense-have the Dream and Fantasy sail out of Port Everglades over weekend and hopefully the Dream can make it back to PC by Monday Morning. The only thing that would remain unknown if these ships would go to CC/Nassau on next weeks sailings (depending on the damage left by Matthew). Wouldn't be surprised if the Dream made another Cozumel run next week.

Just spoke to DCL and they said an announcement is to come out at 1pm. I told them I would be calling back at 1:01pm for that. Just keeping all in the loop as I'm scheduled to fly in tomorrow nigth for my 10/7 Dream Cruise. Hurry Up Disney and make a decision on this... Other cruise lines have.

Nothing on the web site yet. Hope you're on the phone with them now!

Carnival is taking the "wait and see" attitude as well, with no regard to people flying in either. They are letting people cancel, though.

Anxiously waiting for news about our Carnival cruise departing sunday.

And yes, at least people departing thursday -- now 2 nights departing friday-- can cancel now.

If the 2 nights cruise happen (if PC is fine!), that means our 4 days cruise won't be impacted (except that I can imagine that our itinerary itself could be impacted. I doubt Freeport and Nassau will be in good shape after the visit of Matthew!)

Port Miami is shutting down cargo and truck traffic at 5:00 today - cruise traffic not yet closed.

Been watching this situation. We leave on October 17 and can't believe a decision hasn't been made yet for Friday's cruise. We always fly in 2 days early. Safe travels.

My guess is if they stop in Galveston (can they even handle a Dream class ship?) the cruise will be over and the passengers will disembark.
The Carnival Breeze and Royal's Liberty of the seas sail out of Galveston. I believe those are pretty large ships.

From their website:

HURRICANE MATTHEW
Weather Update – 10/05/16 – 12:30 PM (EST)

Carnival Victory – 10/6/16 departure
Port Canaveral will be closed to all marine traffic as of noon today. If the storm track changes, we plan to operate a two-day cruise on Friday with a call to Freeport, subject to a post-storm assessment by port officials.

In the event we operate a two-day cruise, a pro-rated refund equal to the amount of one day and pre-purchased shore excursions for Nassau will be processed to your original form of payment within three weeks. Gratuities will be adjusted to reflect the shortened duration.

We certainly understand the impact this unexpected change has on your travel plans. Should you wish to cancel, you may do so with a full refund by calling 1-800-CARNIVAL.
Well I'm sure a lot of people sailing on DCL this weekend would be happy with those options.

You can see the storm looping up the Florida coast, then of to sea and looping back to Miami for a second pass along the Florida coast.
That means the same storm twice within a few days.

Looks like 1pm came and went with no update. This sure is a nail biter and I am not even sailing!

I can't really tell from that site if they are saying the above graphic is a worst-case scenario, or if they are saying that Matthew is shaping up to be a worst-case scenario. Regardless, things are not looking good at all right now...not just for Port Canaveral, but the entire East Coast of Florida. For anyone there, please be safe.

Sorry, not sure I quite understand....

There is a possibility that the high in the North Atlantic may be strong enough to push Matthew back causing him to loop on himself - go up the FL (and possibly GA, SC, and NC) coast, head out to sea, and loop around giving them a second hit.

If all they need are supplies Houston can take the ships. We have major shipping port here that takes tankers & cargo ships bigger than the Dream class.

SO, has anyone gotten an update from DCL yet? I was going to call. I don't have access to my email right now, so I wanted to see if anyone else had heard anything before I jump on what is likely a long hold
