So about this Hurricane - 10/7 Dream cancelled, 10/7 Magic Canadian, 10/8 now 10/9 Fantasy 6-night

Looks like 1pm came and went with no update. This sure is a nail biter and I am not even sailing!
I know. I'm leaving tomorrow to fly to London and then on to Athens for our cruise on the Carnival Vista. I need to finish packing and do a hundred other things, but I'm really interested to see how this all turns out for everyone.

Looked at the Port Canaveral web cam this morning and saw a Carnival ship. Went back now and the cruise ship is gone. Really looks strange with no people or cars at the Port.

The Victory came back in a day early, dropped off its passengers, and is now headed back out empty. Conflicting reports about where it's going, though. I've read out to open sea and I've also read to Key West to drop off some crew. That doesn't make much sense to me so probably to open sea to wait it out.

It is strange seeing empty ports.

Ok -- just called. They said no update as of now. Rep said they were "in a meeting" now and he didn't know when they'd hear anything.

Because I am morbid I went to see if you can still book these seemingly doomed sailings and found you can! They are still offering the 10/8 Fantasy and the 10/10 Dream...Okay I have a lot faith in Disney to make this right but who would book this??!! Just someone looking for a reason to sue or file an insurance claim?!
That's like the Titanic hitting the iceberg and saying...oh my goodness we still have empty staterooms, let's fill those up!

I called again at 1:51pm and asked for the 1pm update that I was told was coming. They said they STILL have no updates or information for us. I "nicely" told the CM that my hotel for the night before has already cancelled on me and now we have no place to stay if the cruise is on, which Disney is stating that it is according to their website. I then told her Carnival and RC have given their guests options to cancel w/out a penalty and Disney should do the same. She said they do expect something this afternoon though. (right, I heard that at 11am and again at 1pm). I just wish we would get the option to cancel w/out any penalties. That's what I'm waiting for. She did say the internet will get the info first as it will be posted on their DCL website. soooooooooo, again we WAIT!!!! NOT having at magical day here.

I saw this posted on the Touring Plans website: http://blog.touringplans.com/2016/1...disney-world-not-accepting-reservations-week/
More specifically, "They were told that, depending on what Hurricane Matthew does, Disney may have to house the passengers from two of the Disney Cruise ships so they could voluntarily move now when they were guaranteed a room or wait until mandatory evacuations where there may or may not be rooms available and they could end up on a cot in one of the Disney ballrooms."

I feel for all of you folks! We sail on the 10/31 Dream 4 night, so well out of harms way (I hope!) I have faith that they are indeed doing the right thing and trying to scramble to figure out what to do. I've read that the dream class ships are limited on where they can dock, and it sounds like Miami will not be a viable option either. I know if they put out "Cruise cancelled, details to follow" they would have a never ending phone jam of callers, so putting out a message does nothing if they don't have the answer as to what will be happening in place of a cancellation/change. Stay safe everyone!!

Well my Thursday night flight on southwest was just cancelled. My hotel hasn't cancelled on me yet though. This is getting crazy.

I'm not sure what is driving DCL to be so late on making their announcement....profits, weather, who knows...but when the flights are being cancelled, hotels are being cancelled, its not a smart move to keep the cruise as scheduled without the ability for guests to even make it to the cruise.

I think the voluntary cancellation should be a no brainer decision and then schedule change can happen with more information about the hurricane..but thats just me.

I know this is nerve-wracking, and YES, Disney is sure taking its sweet time. But, have patience. The simple fact of the matter is that unless forecasts are way way off, Port Canaveral will be closed Friday and, at the very least Disney will be offering you a refund. Disney is probably still trying to figure out where it is going to offload the passengers currently on the ship and if they can even offer an alternative to just cancellation/refund.

Wouldn't that mean that they are trying to protect profits from the cruise?

Worrying about inbound passengers is what they should be worrying about. Not making people drive into the hurricane weather should NOT take this long

Someone on the Dream currently said that the captain is talking about a day at sea and possibly another port. They said that the captain will let them know tonight at the show.

If they don't cancel or offer cancellation they aren't really making people drive into the hurricane weather. It is up to the individual to decide if that risk is worth it and then take it up with their insurance company to recover the lost cost if Disney doesn't cancel and is able to sail.
