Snuggies? I can't believe I'm asking this question!

I got a Snuggie for Christmas and I love it! I'm a computer programmer so I'm at the computer all day and this is perfect. I can have a blanket wrapped around me and still type. My dd's love it too and have been asking for a kid sized one. I'll have to check out the ones at Justice.

So your whole back is exposed?

How does that keep you warm when you are outside watching a game like they show in the ad?

I can see how keeping your back up against the couch or chair would help retain your body heat. And having your arms free a good thing.

It's the outside use I'm having a hard time picturing being useful without a blanket to cover your back.

No- the Snuggie (or any other brand) is not meant to wear when walking around the house. It is more for laying on the sofa.

That bears repeating! The Snuggie is very very very long so it covers your tootsies. The plush one I got has pockets, and when I stand, the pockets are at my knees.

I haven't seen the ad, but I assume the ad is showing the alternative to having just a blanket on your lap. So if you'd go to a game and have a blanket on your lap, this replaces the blanket and goes up further, keeping your front upper body a bit warmer than blanket-on-lap would have done.

:thumbsup2 Got it.

I'm way too cold, I have to have something around my shoulders and over my back. Just a lap blanket would never be enough outside on a cold bench. :lmao:

But I may go get some for inside use.

Thanks for all the help.:flower3:

Ok, I have an idea- get 2 Snuggies. Put one on like a coat, then put the other on like a blanket. Double layered toasty warmth when you are outside, watching the game!! Of course, you'd look a little silly...

i love my snuggie. the fabric is NOT thick, but it does insulate very well. sometimes i get too hot wearing it, and have to pull my arms out of the sleeves. i do use it very often though.

i suggest walmart. they're 14.00 there, and you don't have to pay shipping, but if you buy them from snuggie commercials or snuggie online, you get 2 of them for 20 (including shipping.) so if you're worried about her wearing one out, you could get her two, so she could switch them up and they wouldn't wear out so fast.

My dh calls snuggies cold weather hospital Johnies. My kids each have a kid size off brand from Five Below. It has velcro to keep the back somewhat together. It is way too long for my dd5 to walk in. My dd9 lost interest in it quickly. My mom got me some cheap off brand one as well which also has velcro to keep the back together. It is too long for me.

Mine is made of the plush microfiber material and is huge. It goes way beyond my feet, so i can wrap it back up around my legs. It is also wide enough to tuck around you. I can roll the sleeves up with a button tab. It is big enough that I can use it as a throw as well.

It is from bed, bath and beyond. Can't remember if it was called a snuggie or slanket. Just know that it is very warm and I love it.

No mocking the cold mom. ;)

If I'm gonna look a little silly, I guess I'll go with the blanket and a snuggie thing.
This way I can be a cape crusading choir member. :thumbsup2

DD12 got the leopard print one (with a reading light!) for Christmas and took it in the car the next day for our 8-hour drive. It's the only time we've made this trip that she hasn't whined about being cold!

I keep saying I'm going to steal it so I can sit on the sofa at night and read a book, enjoy a drink, AND keep my arms and hands warm, but she hasn't let it out of her grasp yet. (Except for washing, then she stands by the dryer to wrap herself in fluffy warmth as soon as it comes out :rotfl:)

You can use a 20% off coupon at Bed, Bath, and Beyond or Linen and Things. They seem to be $15 everywhere. That being said, I have a Slanket- far superior to a Snuggie. They are thicker and bigger but only found on Ebay now.

We have slankets too. I have one and my 7 year old DS has one. I love mine. It is much thicker than the Snuggie. I got it through QVC.

DD had been begging me for a Snuggie and I kept refusing. I told her to use a blanket and stick your arms out if you need anything. BIL did one-stop-shopping at Dick's Sporting Good for Christmas and bought her a Giants snuggie. She loves it. It's thicker than the regular Snuggie's and feels softer. She wears it to bed, to the table to eat (I swear we DO have the heat on, she just won't take it off). If she could wear it in the shower, I'm sure she would. DH on the other hand thinks the Giants snuggie was his downfall b/c the team kept losing while she had it on:rotfl2:.

The Slanket also comes in kids & adult sizes, the Snuggie does not. I'm petite and could easily make 2 Snuggies out of the one that I won this Christmas in a gift swap. That being said, it is incredibly warm for a thin piece of fabric. I think I would opt for the Slanket if I was buying one though.

You can buy the Slanket on their website, QVC, amazon.com, SkyMall and a bunch of other websites. I hear that Brookstone sells a similar product as well.

I got my Slanket from QVC and I LOVE it. The sleeves are long, but I just cuff them up. It is also long in the body, but that just gives me room to tuck my feet in. I can sit and knit with out being chilly. My robe doesn't cover my legs like the Slanket does. My room gets a little cold and my chair is near a window, so instead of turning up the heat, I just put this on and I am nice and cozy.

No mocking here- I am in the same boat! :) DD just started winter soccer practice (her team has a tournament the last week of January), so I was shivering in my chair last night. It was about 30 degrees, and I was wishing for a Snuggie or 2! I would have been perfectly OK with looking silly.

I bought my parents Snuggies for Christmas jut based on reading the reaction here on the DIS. My mom sent me a text last night tellingme that they are the HUGEST hit with them. They wear them non-stop and adore them. Thanks for the tip gang!
