I have a small snow globe I purchased. It is about 2-3 inches long, 1-1 1/2 high, pretty small. Can I take this in my carry-on or do you think I should be packing it in checked luggage? I appreciate any info.

Stephanie

They will not allow a snowglobe in the carry on bag. I bought a small one on our last trip and packed it in my checked luggage.

A family in front of us at the airport had a small one in their carry on and it was taken.

You MUST...I mean MUST check it with your luggage. NOT your carry on. Since there is no way for the TSA to determine how much water is in that snow globe they will not permit it on board. They will either make you go back and check your carry on or leave the snow globe behind.

My BF and I just went to San Diego. We bought a tiny (2 or 2 1/2 inch high) snow globe at the San Diego Zoo. We were able to bring it through a hand checked carry-on in our regular quart size liquid bag with no problems.

Then someone screwed up, it's listed, right on the TSA site, that NO slowglobes, even with documentation are allowed in carry ons...

You got lucky, bottom line..

Carried a snowglobe in my checked bag. Packed really well. Busted anyway.

I'd advise shipping it.

I know this won't help the OP- sorry. But, they sale Disney snow globes once your through security at Orlando Airport. Just thought someone might find this information useful.

It is printed on the bottom of every receipt at WDW.

As a reminder, the Department of Homeland Security does not allow liquids or gels, including snoglobes, through the security screening point or in the cabin of the aircraft.

I recently purchased a disney snowglobe xmas decoration on ebay. It came without the water inside!!
Are snowglobes like this available to buy in DW.

I learnt the hard way having my golf ball size snowglobe taken off me.

Strange thing is, they won't let you carry a snowglobe in your bag (carry-on) and my daughter bought one in the airport! It wasn't a big one, but it was a snowglobe!!!:confused3

Apparently, they won't let you bring it through in your carry-on because security cannot tell the amount of liquid inside the globe. Once you are through security, you can buy any liquids that are in the airport - including snowglobes!

Last Christmas, we were hurriedly packing for our trip. I told my daughter, 9 at the time, to pack a carryon with any stuff she wanted. She did. When we went through security, we were stopped because my daughter had packed a "My little pony snowglobe"!!. She told me about it at home before we left but I wasn't listening because I was in a hurry. My DH went back to the check-in and packed it in a suitcase and then went back through security. It is a fond memory for us now. It made it home just fine.
