So the non-earth shattering question is: tomorrow, do I wear a knee length skirt or a full length one? I'm still wearing my brace and I have NO problems showing it off... and somewhat inclined to do so, in order to have the "yeah, see? Surgery. Still recovering" in your face approach. The leg brace is far too big for most pants. I do have a pair in black that are yoga/sleep pants, but I feel silly wearing them in public, though I do occasionally.

I say wear what you are most comfortable in, even if those are the yoga pants, and forget about what other people think! (Of course, a little sympathy can go a long way to making you comfortable!)

Go for the skirt...get the sympathy! Unless you're more comfy in sweats. I love sweats. :goodvibes

Well, now it will feel like the holidays. Tonight my town's Christmas Parade!!!!!!!!! The little boys I babysit for will be in it and they are so excited! So naturally it's supposed to be cool and rainy tonight.....:rolleyes1

Oh my gosh - a Christmas parade before Thanksgiving? Isn't that illegal? I should talk. My tree went up yesterday!
I hope the weather holds out and you have fun!

Hello birdies!! Once again, I haven't been around a lot lately. I've been a busy little bee. We put our tree up on Sunday, but it's not decorated yet. We want our kitten to get used to it before we put anything on it. So far, he hasn't had much interest in it which is good. However, our other cats love laying underneath it or chewing on the branches. So aggravating!!! I hope that everyone is doing well. I don't have time to read back through what I've missed. I miss chatting with all of you everyday!!!

I did wear the shorter skirt! I got a lot of the expected "oooh let me see" and the skirt hit just a few inches over the scar so everyone was happy. The bummer thing was I called the surgeon's office to get clarification on how long to wear the brace. The answer was "yes." All day. Every day. Even on the exercise bike (!!!). Even overnight. Until my appointment. RATS!

I guess I'll be wearing lots of skirts. snykymom, I'm actually not that COMFORTABLE in the yoga pants. I feel like I'm in PJs (because I am). And then, to make matters worse, I only have the one pair! (That sounds like "the food was terrible and the portions were too small) I was told, at my pre-op appointment, that I'd only be wearing it for the first six weeks, so I'm not entirely prepared. I think I'll also see what I have for tights and what fits to wear with my skirts.

I survived the work day! I'm TIRED but I suspect no one's surprised by that; I'm not. I'm glad I chose to come back and work just Tuesday/Wednesday. I'll have a long weekend and hopefully be in better shape for next week's (GASP!) five day work week.

Hi Meghan! When I was younger we had a cat that would climb up and lay ON the tree branches! Luckily she never knocked the tree over - I still don't know how!
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!

HaHa!! We have a local radio station that has been playing Christmas music since Nov. 1. Now that I don't support. Our parade has always been Tuesday before Thanksgiving. The weather was good. Didn't start raining until after.

Right now I'm just trying to work up the energy to get prepared for work.

Have a great Thanksgiving everyone. :goodvibes

Happy Thanksgiving, Snowbirds! :grouphug:

It's 10:30am here in Belgium, and I just got the turkey into the oven. :woohoo: Just barely! European ovens are generally smaller than American ovens. When I was unpacking the kitchen stuff, I tested all my pans and put the ones that wouldn't fit into the oven up in the attic...including my roasting pan. So this morning I had to look around for the biggest pan that would fit into the oven--fortunately the roasting rack just barely squeezed into it. It's a 13 lb. turkey (yeah, just for the 5 of us--we like leftovers  ). I'm thinking that we won't be able to host a big holiday meal while we're living here, because any bigger turkey wouldn't fit into the oven!

The boys' school is open today, but we let them stay home. :rolleyes1 Yesterday DS11's teacher told them they wouldn't be learning anything today anyway!

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving! :wizard:

HAPPY THANKSGIVING SNOWBIRDS!!
I'm finishing my coffee and getting ready to start peeling potatoes and putting rolls out to rise (they're Rhodes rolls, as close to homemade as I get). :rotfl:With one grandma in the hospital that knocks our visiting down to only two families, but I'm sure we'll make a pit stop at the hospital in the middle. I think I'll make my grandpa a plate so he'll have something other than hospital food for T'giving. And my grandma's just starting to eat broth and jello, so maybe by this afternoon she'll be able to eat just a few small bites of mashed potatoes! I'm sure going to miss her chicken and dumplin's this year! I'm just thankful that she made it thru and is recovering well!

Hope all my Southern Friends are having a fantabulous Holiday today! Happy Turkey Day everyone! Remember to count your blessings and SAVE ROOM FOR PIE!!! :goodvibes

If anyone is into scrapbooking - I got a personal Cricut (the smaller one) die cut machine for $75! Normally $199.99!! Only had to stand out in the cold for 1/2 an hour at 5:30 a.m. Gift for myself!
Then I went to Penney's and got a stand/organizer for the Wii games/remotes etc. for $50. Last one they had. Plus - Bonus - I walked in and they were handing out these little red boxes. It was a snowglobe - with MICKEY MOUSE in it with a cute winter hat and scarf. says 2009 on the front. It's tiny - about 3 inches high. Looks pretty cute on my piano!
I got a DS lite at Target - not on sale, but if you spent $150, you got a $15 gift card. That was easy enough!
Going to go again today to look for cartridges for the Cricut that weren't on sale at that store until today, jeans for DD8 at Old Navy. But have to wait because she has a friend over since last night. It's not a gift, but she needs to try on.

Funny how I use Black Friday just to shop for myself, not actual Christmas gifts!

I still have to go back and read what I've missed. We've been at the inlaws house since Wednesday night. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I made potatoes. Not really sure what they're called, but my mil calls them buffet potatoes. You take sour cream and mix it with cream of chicken soup. Then you can either take potatoes, boil them, peel them and then use them on the larger holed part of the cheese grader, or you can use hash browns that aren't formed into patties it's just looks like the pototoes you would have shreaded yourself. Then you layer it like lasagna. A little of the sour cream/soup on bottom (to make sure it doesn't stick), a layer of potatoes, a layer of Veveeta cheese. You can also add diced onions with the potatoe layer or real bacon bits on top of the cheese. Also, I made what my family just calls "pink stuff". It's cherry pie filling, Cool Whip, sweetened condensed milk, drained crushed pineapples, and diced walnuts(optional). Then I bought pumpkin and peacan pies from my favorite pie lady. It was all sooo good and we ate sooo much. The one thing about not having Thanksgiving with my family that I did not miss is my mom's lime jello. For every holiday, well Thanksgiving and Christmas mostly my mom makes this lime jello thing. It's lime jello with shreaded cheddat cheese. She says it's a "family tradition". My brother, sister and I agree that is a family tradition that will die with her b/c we all think it's gross.

I didn't go to any black Friday sales. I went to the one at Wal Mart last year and it caused me to have a panic attack. Luckily my fil showed up and calmed me down b/c I thought I was passing out. I will never go to another one again. They would have to offer a DVC membership with like 10,000 points per year for $100 to get me to go.
