Our school does "trunk-or-treat" every year where all the parents park kind of in a circle in the school parking lot, or you can just bring your lawn chair. We decorate the trunks, backs of trucks, etc, and the kids go car to car for candy! We have costume and trunk decorating contests, you can pre-order pizzas, it's just a safe area just for the school families that the kids can trick or treat and you don't have to worry about inspecting the candy or keeping a real close eye on your kids. They get TONS of candy, the parents can sit back and let the kids run around because they close the parking lot-no one in or out until it's over, it's just lots of fun!
That sounds like so much fun! What a great idea!

We went to Logan's brother's football game last night. We only stayed during the first half, because I was getting cold, and I didn't have my glasses, so I was having a hard time seeing anything anyways. They lost.:guilty:

We came down to Logan's parents for the weekend, and I doubt there will be much Halloween celebrating. They live in a small cul-de-sac kind of in the country, so I doubt many kids will come by.
We thought about going to my parents' which would have been an entirely different experience, because my Mom is putting on a Haunted House with my brother, sister, and their friends. Logan decided that we needed to see his family though, and I'm not particularly attached to my Mom's Haunted Houses.
My Mom tends to over-do, and it can be exhausting for everyone around.

Hey Meghan!! Thought you ran away!!!!! Good to hear from you!

No, I didn't run away. I've just been so busy lately that I've only had time to check my email and facebook (I'm addicted).

Looking back through the pages, I have my own say on the soda/pop/etc thing.

Growing up in Syracuse, everyone said soda. Upon moving to Buffalo, they call it pop. I never stopped saying soda and people still look at me funny sometimes. I think that pop sounds like something a child would say (no offense to whoever calls it that). Another difference is lollipop/sucker. In Buffalo, everyone says sucker and in Syracuse it's lollipop. I go back and forth between the two. I have one more and it's a total pet peeve of mine. How does everyone pronounce "Reese's Pieces"? In Buffalo, many people pronounce it "reesee's peecees" (lots of emphasis on the E). And I then ask them: "Do you ask for peecees of paper or pieces of paper?" They all laugh and say that sounds funny. Hello! No kidding it sounds funny. They all say Reese's just fine when talking about a peanut butter cup...so I just don't get it!

OMG, that drives me nuts too. My hubby has a few that drive me nuts at times. He says Valentime instead of Valentine. Then he'll say punkin instead of pumkin. If he's calling someone a punkin, like a cutesy name, that's fine. However the thing you carve is a pumkin.

happy halloween snowbirds!!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!

I'm so excited (cue the Pointer Sisters music!)
My DH just asked me when we can do our online registration for our cruise, so I checked and we can. The exciting part is I discovered we got a free upgrade and so did our traveling companions!!! So three cabins all got upgraded from an inside category 11 to outside porthole category 8!! We are at the very front of the ship, but who cares?? IT's bigger, has the split bath and up one deck from where we were! Since it's at the opposite end of the buffet, we can order room service for breakfast!!

:banana::yay::yay::cool1::cool1::yay::yay::woohoo::woohoo::banana:

Everyone have a great time with your kids! :wizard: Here's hoping they score tons of great candy that they will share with Mom and Dad :rotfl:.

My kids are tricked and treated out, stuffed to the gills with all sorts of nasty stuff, bathed and in bed snoring! :cool1:

Because DD8 has to graph her candy for some of her math homework, we know EXACTLY how much she got! 40 bags of chips, 24 pieces of hard candy, 46 misc (gum, chewys, pops etc) and 164 chocolate treats (mini bars, tootsies etc) :scared1: :rotfl2: They are only allowed to have 1 treat in their school lunch a day (school rule) and we don't let them have treats until after supper so..... I think that candy will be around for a while! :rolleyes1

WOW!!! :woohoo: Sheree, that is SO EXCITING!!! We are thinking of doing a cruise in a couple of years! My parents just did their first this past month! They got hooked and immediately upon returning, they booked their second for next month! :rotfl: It sounds like so much fun! :cool1:

Hope all the little snowbirdies are all back to fine healthy form and enjoyed their trick or treating tonite! :goodvibes

OH my gosh!! People here do the Reese's thing too...what is up with that? GEEZ!!!! It's really irritating!!!! I do call the candy a sucker...to me a lollipop is the big all-day sucker type candy you get at WDW or the fair or something...a Dum-Dum or whatever is just a sucker. Back to the soda...I already put in my definition..but what about people who call it soda pop!!! Like one word?!
Well, my kids are in their pjs.....but we are watching a movie..seeing how the older one slept nearly allllll day due to his meds..we are gonna be up late!

Well we survived another cold Halloween. The kids had on about 3 layers and the parents rode in the hay wagon. One of our neighbors hooks up his four wheeler and trailer full of hay bales and he drives us up and down the street while the kids run. Some come and take a break in the wagon. It's a lot of fun. Then we all go to their house for a while and the kids sort and trade candy (some have braces or don't like nuts...) We actually had leftover candy this year so I think there were less kids out than last year. It was about 60 degrees last year compared to maybe 40 tonight.
They were exhausted. As am I! I'm hoping they take advantage of that extra hour tonight and sleep in!

Morning birds! It's 10:00am (well technically it's 9 but I haven't moved the clocks back yet) and my kids JUST woke up! I can't believe it! We were out late but not THAT late. I guess they needed the sleep. We got TONS of candy last night. I sent Andy out to buy candy to give away because we didn't get as much at Trunk-or-treat-should've saved the money. We only gave a few pieces away. We live in a very busy subdivision, but we're kind of up and in a cul-de-sac, so I guess most of the kids just stayed on the main drag! So I have TONS of candy left over. Unfortunately, Andy didn't get the kind I wanted, so none of it's stuff that we like (M&Ms, Reese's, Kit Kats) but he got OHenry's, goobers and raisinettes. NOT a big fan! Oh well, I already packed up a bunch of the candy and hid it in the freezer when the kids were outside. Hopefully it'll last a while!

Good job with all the kids!! My parents said that only about 6 kids came to our house. So we literally have a full bag of candy.

Well Happy November everyone.

Well, we don't have little snowbirdies, but we did hand out candy for the first time in YEARS. OMG what fun! What a HUGE change from years past! The kids - from teeeeeny tiny to oversized teens just getting free stuff - were all super-great. I mean, loud and excited "trick or treats" and, pretty much to a kid, there were "please" and "thank you" afterward.

The weather wasn't super- about 40 and windy - but there were a decent number of kids. it was so great to see them excited... we gave up after 80% of the kids would ring our doorbell and hold open their bags and walk away. Not even in costume. Bah on them!

So, hooray, back to fun times!

DOH!! That's what I get for not re-reading what I wrote before posting. In my defense though, I was getting two kids dressed while typing and trying to run out to head to the in laws for Halloween.:goodvibes

My DH would love to do a cruise. I would like to, but then I start to think of all that deep water under the boat and around the boat, and I get images of the Titanic sinking in my head. We'll go on one someday, but just not right now.

Sounds like a great place to raise kids.

We had a great Halloween. We went to the inlaws house. Before we got into costumes, my mother in law made her wonderful homemade chili and cornbread. John was Leonardo, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, but he didn't wear he mask most of the night. Joey was a Zombie Clone Trooper. He was supposed to just be a Clone Trooper. Once we got to the in laws and he saw the make up they were going to use on my nephew's face to make him a zombie, he wanted to be made up with a zombie face as well. It looked really cool. Then I put on one of my mother in laws night gowns and house coats, rolled up my down to my rear end hair in different lengths with sponge rollers to it looked crazy, and wore my mother in laws leopard print house shoes. My sister in law added a little black make up around my eyes to make me look really tired. After walking down the street, I was really hot so before we went to another neighborhood, I took it all off. Just in the short period of time I had my hair rolled, it curled it and looked great the rest of the night. My mother in law dressed in black like a widow with long black lace covering her face. She scared many kids while handing out candy. One teenage girl ran away screaming and never came back for candy. When we were done trick-or-treating with the in laws, the boys and I drove to my sister's house. She bought them each a gift bag full of different candies and treats.

We spent the night at my in laws that night so we could watch football today with my father in law. What a great day in football it was!! My Cowboys won!!!!:cheer2::banana::cheer2: Then the Vikings beat the Packers!!!:cheer2::dance3::cheer2: I'm not a Vikings fan usually, but I have always loved Favre. I have always said the only problem with Favre is that he plays for the Packer (eww yuck). Now that he's a Viking, I cheer for him...unless he's playing my Boys.

We do live in a great neighborhood. Lots of families with kids, my daycare is one of my neighbor friends, everyone is so nice!! I would love a different/bigger house (mostly because we have too much stuff), but I told DH we can't leave these neighbors!

GO VIKES!!!! Oh yeah - 7 and 1! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:
I'm not a huge football fan, and I really couldn't have cared less where Favre went, but now that he's here, well - it sure helps!! My DH LOVES football - Vikes and the Steelers. So he's usually pretty happy on Sundays! He works at the Vikings games here so some Sundays he's at the dome all day. But selling Favre jerseys has made us some wonderful Disney money!

I would love to live in a neighborhood like that. We never talk to our neighbors. We live so close to the Dallas Cowboys, but I have never seen them play live. It's a dream of mine to go one year to the Thanksgiving game. I've been to the old stadium to see high school games. I've been to their training facility, but that was just to get a CAT scan.

This weekend with all of the trick-or-treating and Halloween fun almost made me want to move our trip to October.

While we were walking with the boys, I told my sister in law that I would love for them to go with us sometime. She said that they spent enough on their trip this summer to TN to go to WDW. I sent her some pricing for her family if they wanted to go with us tonight. I would love for my nephew to get to go to WDW. It may mean that we don't get to stay at WL on our trip, but it would be worth it to see him experience the magic.

I've forbidden my husband from wearing a Favre jersey. I understand that Favre WANTED to play for the Vikings and he and the rest of the team have been EXCELLENT this year... but after almost 12 years of listening to him hate on Favre? And now he's the best thing EVER? No. No #4 jersey for him!

(heehee)

That said, we're staying home for Thanksgiving (and I'll still be on crutches), so we decided to go to the Lions Thanksgiving day game. It'll be a giant hassle for me to get to our seats, but it's probably less giant than two 7 hour car rides in 3 days. The Lions will not win, but it seems like fun, since we don't have any family near by to celebrate the day with.

Sarah...I think that sounds fun...tiring for you maybe, but fun!! I would hate to be driving that long too!
Well, I am hoping the boys are better today! They are still asleep! They are just really having a hard time getting their appetites & strength back. I started the sinus thing Sat...but I am on Mucinex and Ibup. so I feel somewhat better...just a sore throat and coughing. YUCK. We are all just drained....I had laundry to do this weekend and I managed 2 loads...and that like to wore me out!!!! I hate feeling like this..but I hate it worse for them!

I used to always say, "I hate the Packers, but I love Favre." He just seems like such a nice guy. Plus he's hot!! I just wish he played for the Cowboys.

That sounds like a great Thanksgiving Day. We have the opposite problem with family. My DH's sister just moved into the area, and now all of our family (well at far as parents and brothers and sisters) all live near the DFW area. It always makes holidays harder b/c both sides want our boys at their house. On my side of the family, I am the only one with kids. We split the holidays. My parents get Thanksgiving one year and DH's get them Christmas Day. Then the next year my parents get Christmas Day and DH's get them Thanksgiving. One of these years, we're going to rent a cabin in the mountains for Christmas and just invite whoever wants to come with us.

I hope they are feeling better, too. My boys are still coughing a little, but not near as bad as Friday. Luckily it looks like we're going to have great weather in our part of the state. It'll be in the mid to upper 70's for the highs.
Oh and I figured out how to have a WDW pic as my wallpaper on my iPhone. I just look through the pic of the day thread and if they have a flicker account I can make it a wallpaper pic by taking a picture of what is on my screen. I might be able to do it straight from the DIS, but only if the pic takes up the entire screen. With Flicker I can make the pic bigger.

I know we are not suppose to list things for sale on here, but I have some VB bags and a wallet that I don't use that are in excellent shape...if anyone is interested pm me!! I was going through Closets/drawers when the sickness decended upon us!! Ha!!!

Just wanted to share some pics with all my Snowbird buddies:

My mom made her costume. She has a million layers on under that dress and she stayed nice and warm while trick-or-treating. My DH and I were wearing our winter coats, gloves, hats, scarves...it was super windy Saturday night!
