I feel really gloomy now.
We canceled our resort reservations last week, but I had not canceled our ADRs yet. I did it today, and it was very hard. Now it REALLY feels like we're not going. This is especially difficult, because I have no idea when we'll make it to any of the Disney parks. If I knew that we would absolutely be going sometime next year or something, then it would be easier.
Also, it will probably be later rather than sooner, because we're hoping to have a baby before we leave for Korea. (or maybe after we get there... the timing on that is tricky, because I can't fly during my third trimester)
Either way I have to play it by year, and then there's the great fun of Logan getting leave for a trip.

In other baby news though, my sister is pregnant again, so this little monkey is going to have a new brother or sister next July.

Of course with the timing of my sister's pregnancy and my potential pregnancy, I may not get to meet my new little niece or nephew before we leave for Korea.

I'm sorry you had to cancel!! That's always a bummer. But congrats on the new niece/nephew and hopefully one for you too! That is such a cute little monkey! He needs a banana!
I'm sure the baby planning and Korea etc. will all work out. Hang in there!

I know what you mean about being bummed! We decided a few months back that we were going to pay things off instead of racking up more debt, and I'm good with that, but...I sure miss planning my Disney vaca!! Not to mention that last Sunday would've been our ADR window, and my sticky with my ADR's is sitting right here on the calendar taunting me!
But I don't have the heart to rip it off and throw it away...

Sarah, I would love to see a picture of your cross stitching when you are done. I haven't cross stitched since the boys were babies. My favorite wedding present is actually something that my mom cross stitched for me. I'll try and take a picture of it and post it sometime.

Right now I'm working on another scarf. Instead of using yarn from Wal Mart, I went to a craft store and got some really soft yarn. It's so much softer than the stuff I got at Wal Mart. If we still get to go in December next year I think I'm going to make the scarves green and red. I found a pic from Christmas-time of Mickey and he had a red and green stip scarf. Now I just have to learn how to change colors. My sister wants me to make her one as well, but she wants to go yarn shopping with me.

So here's a link to all my knitting/cross-stitching images: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sarbah77/collections/72157600776786856/

Argh, I've screwed up and can't get the pictures to post.

Anyway, my current projects aren't 100% complete, because I just can't get the beading done, with my leg up. It's too awkward and I'd make a HUGE mess!!

As for yarn, I usually end up getting most of mine from yarn.com and knitpicks.com. I've been to Webs (yarn.com) a few times and it's just an amazing and fun amount of yarn to look through!

I get to see him this weekend, and I am going to have to give him a giant hug, just because he was so cute in his Halloween costume. Yesterday...he dropped my sister's cell phone into a jar of applesauce. He's a pesky little monkey.

Yeah... I agree with the reasons why we're not going. Also, I don't think DH would have had enough leave racked up by then anyways.
I was the one who suggested canceling the trip in the first place, because it's mostly my family that we need to visit before we leave for Korea. It's just hard to not be planning a trip. Planning for Korea is entirely different too, because there's only so much planning I can do before we go.
Disney planning is a continuous process, because even after I have things planned I can sit around replanning, and moving things around until we get there.

Nice work!

I just found us on page 4!!!:scared1:

That just won't do...:sad2:

Hope everyone's having a great day! I need some non-Disney advice. I'm looking for ways to save money ALWAYS and the other day was listening to some news show interview this woman who bought like $200 worth of groceries for ONE PENNY! The newscaster was supposedly with her and it's real, blah blah blah!
NOW, I'm sure that being able to save that kind of money is a part time job in itself, that most of us really don't have the time for, but does anyone have any realistic advice to saving at the grocery store? :confused3 I guess this could be a QOTD?!?!? I already plan my meals, take a list, shop at Aldi for anything I can get there, buy mostly off brands (except for beer and soda, and my wonderful International Delight coffee creamer)...anyone have any other good tips???

Coupons!! If you can plan meals around stuff that's on sale and has coupons, it's worth it. My local grocery store offers a lot of buy one get one free deals too. Some will do double coupons days, but mine doesn't.
I have heard too that you can buy cheaper cuts of meat to use in some recipes for slow cookers or use lots of tenderizer!
You already sound like you're doing a lot of the thiing I do. Buy on sale, buy generic. Try to make things yourself rather than buy prepared stuff, like sauces and treats.
I'd love to hear more ideas too!
Technically, this can be considered a Disney question - how to save more to have $ for Disney!!

Well, I don't buy soft drinks....we drink juice, tea, milk, or water. Lots of tea!!! With organic sugar and I buy naturally decaf. tea...so it's just lots of antioxidants and easier on kids teeth!!!! That kind of stuff adds up for sure!!! I try to skip as much junky stuff as I can...we really don't need it and it really adds to the grocery bill!!!! also, I like to get the big pack of chicken breasts and divide it up for the freezer.

First, that is such a cute tittle monkey, and congrats on the upcoming new nephew/niece.

I totally know how you feel. I was the same way when I canceled our December 2008 trip. It was my decision to cancel it, but that didn't make it any easier or less upsetting. In fact when I actually canceled the trip, I made my DH do it b/c I knew I would cry so hard they wouldn't be able to understand me talk. Heck my DH even had a hard time understanding me. The rest of the day, I was in bed with the covers above my head crying. Luckily, we are planning to go back in December 2010. Hopefully the next time you walk into the MK it'll be while watching the amazement in your little angel's eyes.

Evening Snowbirdies!
Hope everyone is well!

I know we are not suppose to list things for sale on here, but I have some VB bags and a wallet that I don't use that are in excellent shape...if anyone is interested pm me!! I was going through Closets/drawers when the sickness decended upon us!! Ha!!!
You just reminded me that my VB purse that I ordered came in and I'll e picking it up on Saturday. Man, those things are pricey! Thank goodness I had a gift card!
Just wanted to share some pics with all my Snowbird buddies:

My mom made her costume. She has a million layers on under that dress and she stayed nice and warm while trick-or-treating. My DH and I were wearing our winter coats, gloves, hats, scarves...it was super windy Saturday night!
Maddie looks adorable- is she getting too old to be called adorable? :cutie:
I GOT MY MICKEY MAIL TODAY!!

It came with the same luggage tags, vouchers etc. and a new photopass thing.
We are leaving one month from tomorrow night! Man that seems so soon!
:yay::woohoo:
Congrats on your Mickey Mail!!!!! :woohoo:
Thanks! I sort of guessed your screenname from your siggie, but I think I remember you saying that once last year in our snowbird discussions.
I actually put it in my siggie because I had a few people ask if I accidentally mispelled mommy. :confused3 Nope, just my little guy's toddler language.

Congrats on the great baby news! :yay: I wouldn't worry too much about Disney. It will still be there after you have your little bundle of joy!

Forgot to comment on Sarah's crosstitching- You sure have been a busy bee- knitting and crosstitching! At least you're doing something productive while that leg heals. I love the angel crosstitching ones- my mom has made some of the same ones!

Here's my babies at Halloween.
DSCN2587-1.jpg

Emily was Nemo. She doesn't have the hat part of the costume on in this pic though. She picked her favorite Nemo over all the princess and tink costumes in the store :fish:

Andrew was a Jedi. He sure looks like a force to be reckoned with in this pic though doesn't he  He was smiling nicely for his Pop to take his picture. He originally wanted to be Darth Vader which would have been easy since we already had that one in the dress up box but changed his mind to be a good Jedi so that he could fight the bad Darth Vader and Emperor. (I'm sure you understand that logic Kim/Wookie :lmao: )

Kim - Oh yeah I know how that goes. Joey has been Darth many times. It's to the point I don't even have to ask him what he is going to be. I know when we walk into the store to go right to the Star Wars section.

After it got dark the boys and I went for our first night of "Mickey training". I have gained a lot of weight in the last few years, and here lately my knee has starting hurting. I know how much trouble my mom had with her knee and I don't want to go through that. Plus you do a lot of walking at WDW and in the shape I'm in now I think the EPCOT death march would give me a heart attack. I decided this afternoon to start walking. I am going to walk every night with the boys and every morning after I drop off the boys at school. We have a small pond/lake about 2 blocks from our house, so we walked down to it and then around it.

Wookie~ We do that too! I usually am farther along on their walks by now... but with us all being sick.. we missed 2 weeks.....I think I am gonna see if they want to hit it in the morning...if dd doesn't still have fever... I think she's quite a bit better today,....ready to be done with this!!!

Again, thanks! I am going to start a new knitting project soon, since the ones I have are :bored: well, boring.

And I LOVE the Nemo costume for your daughter. SO CUTE!

Back in 2003, I found someone who took my knee pain seriously. Gave me a cortisone shot and I was HEALED. For at least a couple of years. In 2005, the pain was back AGAIN. This time, I ended up seeing a surgeon... and, when he went to remove the problem, he found lots of damage...

But to make a long story short, I, too, went through the effort of losing weight (through watching what I eat and walking!) to help keep my knees healthy. TRUST ME. Totally worth it. In 2005, the surgeon found damage enough to go "yeah, you're going to need a high tibeal osteotomy or a knee replacement." I was 28 at the time - darned good motivation! I managed to buy almost four more years on my arthritic knee, just by getting as healthy (not necessarily slim ) as I could.

So, go LetTheWookieIn! I'll be your personal cheerleader if you need one! :) And walking is SUCH a great way to get fit, regardless of what the runners say. I'm totally looking forward to being able to walk for exercise again... in a few more months. (And given I live in Michigan AND it's nearly winter, I'm not missing a lot by not being able to walk now!)

And finally, a late in the day happy birthday to danceintherain!

I know it's a bit toss-up,...those who say RUN..don't walk.....and then there are those that say WALK..dont run!!! I like to walk personally...but if after a mile or so, I get that spurt of energy..I will jog. Back about 3 years ago, we were walk training (the boys,....she was tiny) to get ready for our trip and we were doing 3 miles.. sometimes at 2 miles the boys would quit and I would do my last mile half jogging....in about 2 months I lost 10 #s. Which was great..because we HAD to do that walking!!! I have lost some weight recently!!!
Over the summer, I bought new scales...our old ones were fried. So... I got those new ones and liked to fell out when I saw how much I weighed!:scared1: I am only 5'2"...so a few #s show up....well, my goal was to lose about 14#s before our trip.....well we were walking...then I had a couple of weeks with Migraines that were doozies!!! Of course, the next day, my head was still hurting...so that pretty much wiped me out!!! Summer time anyway...then in Sept when the weather changed a little, (when I did my landscaping) I had more energy..haven't really been doing anything...but as of today I have lost about 7 or 8 #s!!! I think part of it is becuase I have been runnin' takin care of the kids. also, the meds that I am on....I wonder if they are contributing to that. Of course, when I have all that sinus stuff, i don't really have an appetite..but with these meds, I think I have lost a lot of fluid weight. I would still like to lose another 6 or 7...but where i am now is soooo much better!!!!
So yeah.. I am a walk-lover!!!! Also, I think when I am walking I am even more consious about what I eat...here lately I have really started trying to eat only 1/2 at times when we go out to dinner. And fries!!!! I have to have a few... but not the 150 they bring out!! And another thing.. the bite size candy bars.....lots of times that small bit of chocolate is enough... I don't need the King size!!!!!I wish our towns were more walk friendly...like in other countries where me & the kids could walk to the store!!! That would be amazing!!! If I weren't afraid someone would plow us down...I would have already done this! But, I know most places in Texas aren't walk friendly...not sure about other states...I am sure somewhere like New York City you could! Ha!!!! But not out here!!!!!!

Good morning Snowbirds! :goodvibes

Just wanted to pop in and say good-bye. We leave tomorrow for Disney!! :woohoo:

Have a great week and I will "see" you when we get back!
