Hi Snowbirds! :cool1::cool1::banana::banana:

Hmm, I have nothing to add about Colorado! :) I have been there a few times and enjoyed it very much. :thumbsup2

I'm a bit bummed today, realizing that one year ago today we were on our way to WDW! :sad1: Oh well, I know we'll get back there eventually. I should get working on my DLP plans. There just doesn't seem to be the abundance of information about it like there is for WDW. At least not that I can find in English!

Hope you all have a happy Disney day! :goodvibes

I've been running into the same problem when I've tried to plan for Tokyo Disney. I looked up the hotel info, airfare info, and ticket info, but that's basically it. I can go through and read trip reports from the few people I can find that have been there, but the information isn't necessarily up to date. I can't find any information about food prices, which makes budgeting a bit complicated.

Have fun at Disney on Ice!! I haven't been since high school.

Both the boys are running slight fevers so I kept them home today. The youngest one is just a ball of pure grumpy-ness. He would make Eeyore look happy.

Well, my DH has a job offer, but I'm kind of worried about it. If it works out, it would be more money than he has ever made. Also it doesn't hurt that it could support my Disney habit. His dad owns his own appliance repair business. He has been offered contracts with two major appliance companies to do the warranty work. The only problem is, that it would be too much work for just him. He thinks it's enough work for him to hire 6 additional people. This would also open up the possibility of him opening up his own store where he could sell new and used appliances. He has offered to train my DH so he could come and work for him. The good thing is that warranty work is guaranteed a certain amount per visit. Once my DH got better (and quicker) at the repairs he could easily make $85k per year. The biggest pluses are the potential salary and that it would be easier for him to get time off when he wanted. In a way I hate that he went through getting an IT BS, Master's and MBA certificate to not use them and go to work for his dad. There are still several things that needs to be worked out. It's when faced with decisions like this that being a grown up really stinks.

Oh, but good news!! I'm so excited, I can't wait. My cousin had a mother in law or aunt, or something that was a Disney collecting "freak". Well she is giving all her Disney stuff (I can't remember if she passed away or just moving or what) to my cousin b/c she's into collecting. Well my cousin didn't really want it, but she took it b/c she knew that I loved anything Disney. She is driving down from OK next weekend and is bringing all the stuff. I can't wait to see what all she brings!!! Also, I have to double check before I buy the stuff, but she is a cosmetologist. I'm going to see if she will dye my hair. As long as mine is, it would easily cost $100 to have it professional done. I'm sure she'll have no problem doing it, which means I can say "good bye grey hairs". I'm trying to decide between 1.a medium brown that matches my natural hair color 2.strawberry blonde (which doesn't make it look strawberry blonde, but with my natural hair color, it gives it a slight red hint) 3.a deeper auburn color

Wookie~decisions, decisions!!! Yay that he has a job offer!!! Is this something that he REALLY wants to do? If so, then don't worry about the degrees he has gotten--they might be what he needs sometime down the road. But,just for him to get a job at this point I think is a blessing!! Just think...more Disney and extra stuff!! If your cousin is really good at coloring, ask her what her prof. opinion as a stylist is....of course, if you are like me, you kinda know what you want already!!!! ha!! I do that---ask about 2 or 3 different styles, but kinda have my heart set on one already!

Hey Snowbird Friends! :goodvibes

Only 4 more days until we leave for our Trip to WDW!!! :yay: Cleaning, laundry and packing are at an unnatural high and DISing is at an unnatural LOW!!! ;) Hope all of you stay healthy and well and I will be sure to check in when we are back!

Toodles!!! :goodvibes

He's been going to school for network and communications for 10 years, so he's just been so focused on that. Ever since his dad started his own business he has hinted that he wanted his boys working for him, and then someday his grandkids. Our biggest concern has always been the salary. Now if he gets both those contracts pay salary shouldn't be an issue. I think the thing that scares us the most is that even though it could be a lot of money, it's not gauranteed like it is when you have a normal hourly paid job. Plus their are issues like what vehicle would he drive, getting our own health insurance. We just keep thinking that we keep praying about him getting a job with better pay, and this option of working with his dad keeps coming up. He is going to ride with his dad for a week or two to see if it's something he can do. He would be using part of his degrees since they are business IT degrees. We've just spent the last 10 years expecting our lives to go one way, but it looks like it ma go in another.

Wookie--best wishes to you and DH on the big decision! :goodvibes As you said, just keep praying on it. As your FIL expands his business, and especially if he opens up a shop, he will be needing some business and IT guidance, so your DH could be a huge help in those areas. I think the ride-along sounds like a great idea for your DH to get a better feel for the work.

The quote from Walt Disney in your signature just caught my eye, too :)
Maybe Walt is talking to you? ;)

Cool news about the Disney stuff! Post some pictures for us! :woohoo:

I have no additional words of wisdom after these two wonderful women!

I think it's worth a try and the ride-along sounds like a good plan. Plus, regardless of the business, IT is an important part of ANY business so it's possible his role might change, in time, to what he's interested in!

(So says the history major whose official job title is "accountant" but I'm not a real one... my point being, what my degree and love is, is completely different from what I do to bring home the bacon!)

And, yes, Disney Mommy 3, crutches + snow = challenge! I'm down to my last (knock wood) two weeks on crutches. Had a minor setback, what with muscle strain in my leg. I went from not using it for 12 weeks to walking and then adding physical therapy. It's pretty unhappy and pretty sore, but I'm working on it!

Good morning Snowbirds... I was wondering if anyone who might be heading down in the next week or so would be willing to send a post card for me... PM if you can... thanks

Hey Snowbirds! :goodvibes

I know that some of you are leaving for WDW very soon, so I just wanted to pop in and wish you a safe and magical journey! :wizard:

Which of course, is the absolute BEST thing you can do!!!! We will be parying for you too---this is a big decision!

Kim-CANADA-I am soooo excited for you! I know the girls are probably having trouble going to school---I know I would!! Ya'll be safe and keep us posted!!!

Kim-MONNY-Oh my word!!!!:yay: Yay You!!!! I hope you have a wonderful time and know that we will be thinking of you and your sweet family! Take lots of pics and just enjoy those babies!!!!!

Thank you all. The idea of him being his own boss is just kind of scary. It's kind of like showing up to WDW without any planning, no ADR's, not knowing what hours the parks are open. David and I have just decided if that's what he's meant to do, then that's how it will work out. Maybe that's why he hasn't been able to find a job yet, he was meant to work with his dad. One good thing is that I will know what to tell everyone to get him for his birthday. He'll need a bunch of tools, so people can get him that, or gift certs to Home Depot.

Pluto fan, you are totally right. That Walt quote really fits this situation and it didn't even dawn on me. I read it to my DH and he said, "yep I guess he's right."

Now he's talking that if he does go to work for his dad that we might be able to do a small WDW trip this year. It would either have to be the week of the boys Spring Break or November. We'll have to wait and see what the tax return does. I was the one to say, "Wow big fella, let's make sure everything is all squared away with you working with your dad first." I think that he (and the rest of us in the house) have just been so stressed over the last year that he just really wants a vacation. Somewhere we can just go away, forget the outside world of stress is there, and just enjoy our boys. His reasoning is "what better place to do that than WDW."

Great analogy!
I know what you mean, though. DH will be retiring from the military in a few years, and we're talking about what comes next. He wants to be his own boss...which sounds nerve-wracking to me! I like security!

:cool1::cool1: TIME TO GO! :cool1::cool1:

If I'm remembering correctly (which I'm probably not  --getting old!)...Kim (Monny), Kim (NDG), drakes, and Remmy are all leaving for WDW in the next few days! :cheer2::cheer2: Who am I forgetting?

Have a WONDERFUL time, and be sure to tell us all about it when you get back!:banana:
Safe travels to all!

Me too. I like the security of a normal company job, but I keep reminding myself even those aren't very secure. Also, if he's his own boss, it's easier to get the time off for vacations.

Well I have found a new favorite Mexican restaurant. Last night we took the boys to see Avatar in IMAX 3D. Other than John having a slight meltdown b/c it wasn't the Avatar cartoon on t.v. (curse you James Cameron for naming your movie after a cartoon my son loves that has nothing to do with that cartoon). Also it was really loud. He has mild Autism Spectrum Disorder and movies with lots of explosion bother him. I really need to get him some ear plugs. Well we arrived an hour early, so we decided to grab something to eat. It was down to McDonald's or this Mexican place, Costa Vida. I didn't want McD's and have been craving Mexican, so we went to Costa Vida. They make the food in front of you and as soon as I saw the rice they put in the burrito, I thought I had made a mistake. Oh was I wrong. It was sooo good!! I got a chicken burrito. It had shreaded chicken, pinto beans (black beans were optional) cilantro lime rice, mild sauce. I opted for queso on top and they added pico de gallo and lettuce to the side. It was beyond good!! It was so big that I could only eat half. I made myself sick late last night eating the rest b/c I couldn't stop thinking about it. David and I had to go pay rent today, and the place we had to go just so happened to be a block down from Costa Vida. How could we not eat lunch there today as close as we were? Well this time we halfed a chicken burrito and I still walked away cursing them for the burrito being so good, yet too big to eat.

Wookie~Don't you love finding fabulous food? I know we do!!!
Just wanted to let you all know I did update my TR today!!!...finally~!

WOW that sounds yummy! :thumbsup2
We haven't found much good Mexican food here in Belgium :sad2:

That's probably like trying to find good (American) Chinese food in Worthington, Minnesota. (Don't do it. It was horrifying)

Happy Friday, all!!

Our cupcake store in town is having a buy 1 get 1 free sale but I haven't been able to convince my DH to walk there and buy some. I can't, yet. Sadly, I can't give him a real hard time because he's going to a yarn store tonight to buy some knitting needles for me!

Tell him it would really make your knee feel better if you had (insert your favorite cupcake flavor here). The last time I bought yarn, I couldn't even get my DH to come into the store with me.

I can imagine not being able to find good Mexican in Belgium. It's hard enough to find it outside of Texas.:lmao: One of my favorite things about the Dallas/Fort Worth area is the variety of ethnic restaurants. There is a German one that we eat at when we are missing EPCOT. There is even an Egyptian restaurant that I have always wanted to try, but my DH isn't as into trying places like that as I am. I was able to get him to try a Thai and a Vietnamese (now closed) restaurants not far from our house that both were yummy.
